Introduction to the Article Type

With so many RMTs on site, we’re going to start collecting them in these RMT Community Articles.

In our fourth article of the series, Niemi has given us his team, and some explanations of his choices. Feel free to comment on his team.

This is also a place for you to post your team; please respond to a few others while you’re at it!

Mods have been alerted and will spend some time on these pages responding.

Let’s try to keep the main article pages free from RMTs!

Niemi’s RMT

Patricio – Hamer
Mendy – Robertson – Shaw – Wan-Bissaka – Bednarek
Salah – Mane – Mahrez – Richarlison – Jota
Aguero – Mitrovic – Kamara

Goalkeepers

Patricio – 4.5 – I really like Patricio as a GK, I think he’s genuine quality. At 4.5 in a team that have strengthened a lot during the summer I think he could be one of the great bargains this season. It’s a slight risk going with a GK who’s new to the league in a promoted team, but it’s a risk that could easily pay off. I’m going to play him every week.

Hamer – 4.0 – It seems like Hamer have a shot of starting some games for Huddersfield, so he’s my pick of the 4.0s

Defenders

Robertson – 6.0 – Impressive end to last season, very attacking, decent opening fixtures and no World Cup. An easy and sensible pick in my eyes.

Mendy – 6.0 – I was initially lukewarm to Mendy as a pick, but he looks likely to start the first few games and Pep seems confident he’ll become a key player in the Manchester City side this season. With the amazing run of fixtures between gameweek 2 and 7 I’m taking the risk.

Shaw – 5.0 – Another defender I wasn’t convinced about earlier in the preseason. Although he’s now found his way into my team, I’m not totally convinced on how long he’ll remind a starter. Probably the player in my team I’m least convinced about.

Wan-Bissaka – 4.0 – Has made the right back spot his own during preseason, and is an obvious pick with Palace’s nice opening fixtures. I’ve seen Crystal Palace linked to a few right backs though, so I’m monitoring their movements on the transfer market the final days.

Bednarek – 4.0 – Emerged late last season as a budget defender and kept his price for this season. Seems to be prefered alongside Vestergaard and de Hoedt in the back three, but is facing competition from Stephens. A more nailed option is Peltier from Cardiff, but I feel Bednarek has a higher ceiling hence why I’m going with him currently. Swapping Shaw and Bednarek with 2×4.5 is something I’m weighting up.

Midfielders

Salah – 13.0 – Doesn’t really need an explanation. Been in my team since the game opened, and not going anywhere. Captaincy option every week.

Mane – 9.5 – I’ve had Eriksen in this spot for most parts of the pre-season, but Tottenham is a big worry at the moment with many players yet to return from the WC break, squad players injured, and transfer business yet to happen. Mane is for me the obvious replacement showing decent form in pre-season, as well as kind fixtures at the start and potentially penalties.

Mahrez – 9.0 – Been in and out of my team, but after the game against Chelsea I feel fairly settled with him. Looked dangerous and could easily had returns on another day. Bernardo Silva has crossed my mind, but despite Pep’s quotes I’m not convinced he’s a better pick for the start of the season.

Richarlison – 6.5 – An amazing pick at the start of last season, before totally disappearing. Had great underlying stats, and he’s a player I personally like. Everton’s pre-season form is a worry, but the potential is definitely there at 6.5.

Jota – 6.5 – Been in my team for most of the season. A key attacking player in an interesting Wolves side, and could even be used up front in some games. I’m well aware there’s a good bunch of players that do well in Championship but can’t reproduce those performances in the Premier League, but I have a feeling Jota won’t be one of them. Maddison at Leicester is also a player I’m closely monitoring and I can’t rule out him finding his way into my team at the expense of Jota or Richarlison.

Forwards

Aguero – 11.0 – A player that always finds his way into my team, who I love captaining. This season is no different; he’s been in my team the whole time and the game against Chelsea just made me more confident.

Mitrovic – 6.5 – A player that I like a lot personally. I hoped he would come in at 6.0, but I still think he could be decent value at 6.5. I fully expect him to be Fulham’s penalty taker this season, which is a big advantage.

Kamara – 4.5 – Decided early I wanted to go with a third forward at 4.5, and Kamara seems to be the pick of the bunch. I don’t expect him to be a regular starter, but he’ll probably get some minutes here and there.

Conclusion

I feel fairly confident in my team right now, but a few minor changes are possible. The defence is slightly risky but otherwise I feel my team is pretty safe with decent alternatives to my midfielders and forwards available at the same price point.

What are your thoughts on my team? Have I missed out on any obvious picks, or gone with players that I shouldn’t?

Remember, post your RMTs below in this article. There will be another new RMT Community Article tomorrow.

Similar way of thinking like Niemi, but instead of Salah I went Mane & Firmino, hoping that Mane gets penalties.
    Is Jota taking penalties?
    Rates and suggestions:
    Begovic
    Shaw D.Luiz Holebas
    Eriksen B.Silva Mané Sigurdsson
    Firmino Mitrovic Agüero
    Bench: Hart Murphy Mendy Bednarek

Think Mendy should be in the team every week. Looks pretty strong mid and fwd but not sure about Begovic, Hart combo as keepers, reckon there's better options for the same cost. Will Eriksen play in week 1?

I'm an Arsenal fan so I think it's better hes off for week 1 😀 Begović, Heart combo for 9 mil and very good fixtures for both teams. Think Eriksen will play because he was playing 60 min on 26.7 friendly vs. Roma, and 30 min vs Milan, rested vs Barca and Girona, myb i will be wrong about him...

Agree good fixtures but would worry if Hart lost his place you're just left with Begovic and/or needing to use a transfer on a keeper... there's always the WC though of course. Eriksen is class and they really need him so you're probably right that he'll play.

The tinkering is getting ridiculous so maybe time for a RMT please:

    Foster, Fabianski
    Mendy, Robertson, Chilwell, Boly, Wan-Bissaka
    Salah, Mane, Bilva, Fraser, Costa
    Aguero, Arny, Zaha

Not convinced by Chilwell but rotates well with Boly. Bit worried about 2 cheap mids giving me less flexibility, plus Fraser and Costa don't rotate well. What do people think?

Pereira instead of Chilwell , less competition just as attacking

Good shout, he kind of passed me by completely! Do want to stick with a £5m defender cos then happy to trade down to a £4.5m option to make room for an upgrade elsewhere. Cheers

Was thinking also about Foster, but is he 1st choice? I would rather go for Shaw insted of Chillwell. And what about Neves insted of Costa

I think he should be first choice but it is a worry. Can't bring myself to pick any Man U... cos Mourinho. Toss up between Neves and Costa... have decided to take a punt on the one that could potentially be more explosive than steady. Worried about game time with the Traore signing though.

Iv changed things around a little..

As it stands iv front 7 of

    Salah/Siggy/Bilva/Jota(Stephens)

    Aguero/King/Firmino

Lost Mane,Richarlson and Zaha and Arnie tho...

Mistake to move from the template??

For some reason I quite like spreading the risk out a bit...

Decent spread of prices is good for flexibility. Want to get Firmino in myself but gone Salah, Mane, Robertson at the moment. You can probably justify avoiding Zaha for first couple of weeks but then fixtures turn very good.

    Foster (Fab)
    Robertson Mendy Davies (Tomkins WB)
    Salah Mané Richarlison Jota (Stephens)
    Aguero Arnautovic King

Just not sure about having double palace def, who to swap Tomkins for at 4.5?

I considered the same palace double up... protects vs WB not holding his place... and Tomkins is good value. Looking at rest of the team only one of them's ever likely to play aren't they, so not really a double up, more an either/or.

King potentially more explosive but worried Bournemouth's fixtures are a red herring. Don't they often start slow? I've been stung before (though still going Fraser at the moment!)

He had a poor season last year and feel like if he's on it and Bournemouth are they are more likely to score, say, 3 goals in a game. Mitrovic and Fulham strike me more as steady... nothing wrong with that though.

Repost after putting it in the wrong thread:

RMT - 0.5 in the bank

    Ederson
    Van Djik, Daniels, Shaw
    Salah, Neves, Richarlison, Mahrez
    Firmino, Aguero, King

    Stekelenburg, Coleman, Hudson-Odoi, Wan-Biss

Shaw will be downgraded after a couple of weeks and Mahrez upgraded.

Yes with 2 who need to show something for me before putting any faith in the. Especially richarlison. He dropped off a cliff after christmas. Neves an unknown risk. Why not go 352, drop king for fodder and upgrade Neves to Jota who has shown some preseason form?

Because if I drop King for fodder, then I will have two lots of fodder. I also don't see why I would drop a player with 24 goals in his last 2 seasons for an unproven player at the same price point? Not only that, but recent Wolves deals have increased pressure on the attacking midfield positions. I expect 8-10 attacking contributions from Neves and I will take that for a 5.0 mid.

Gks: I had Ederson but feel it is best to save money with Patricio.
Ds: Daniels may be under threat from new transfers. VD could be Robertson for more attacking returns. Utd players do not appeal at present.
Coleman-EVR have had a messy pre-season. PVA may be a better bet.
      Milfs: HO unlikely to start.
Fs: good front three although prefer to see Arne in there.

      Rating: 4/10

        Cheers for the thoughts:
Ederson is a set and forget - City will get the most clean sheets in the league imo and he is safe from rotation.
Daniels is a short term one - he isnt under threat for the first three weeks because of suspension.
Robertson is more of a rotation risk than Van Djik but I'm torn on this one.
I've got one Palace defender already and Everton's fixtures are superb. I expect them to improve too.
I could swap King to Arnie but I don't like WH's opening. I also think he could be shifted wide to accommodate Hernandes.

        1. Jafalad

Ederson - you will save money and make just as many points with a cheaper gk who gets save points.
          Not keen on s/term players.
Robbo/VD - I was torn too but I feel Robbo has to play given his form and minutes towards the end of last season.
Everton are a no go area for me. Monitor for now.
Arne is proven to score against anyone.

I think it might be worth checking just how bad Arny's fixtures are and re-evaluating. He is playing 8 of last season's top 9 in his opening fixtures...
I don't agree on goalies initially - You have to pick the right one to come out well on the deal, and rotating two 4.5s leads to problems. Ederson also came in late last season and still finished second. He outscored all but 3 gks and defenders in the game. Given their opening fixtures, I think Ederson is sound early on and then leave the re-evaluation to the WC.

I think you're probably right on Robertson but I've got a little scared by the pre-season pattern and the likelyhood of rotation around the UCL. I might well end up Robertson though because his ceiling is higher.

Imo Mane alone will score as many as Sanchez and Salah scored more goals than Sanchez and Firmino combined last season.

Spending alot of money on an attacker in a negative United side in disarray, and ignoring the best player in the league last season ahead of a fantastic run of fixtures is beyond risky.

      Very solid team
      Siggy will excel under Silva.
Fan of Mitro, but don't like the fixtures bar the 1st one.
Imo there are better options than PVA

    Any thoughts guys?

    Rui Patrício/Fabianski
    Robertson/Mendy/PVA/Wan-Bissaka/Peltier
    Salah/Mane/Mahrez/Richarlison/Cairney
    Aguero/Arnautovic/Kamara

      Nice team,
Wouldn't like to play Cairney/Kamara every week.
would downgrade Mahrez to upgrade Cairney.
Or downgrade PVA to upgrade Cairney.

    Fab patricio
    Mendy, Robo, lowton, dunk/cedric, WB
    Salah, Mane, BSilva, Jota, Stephens
    Kun, Tosun, King/Mitro

Too template? King or Mitro? Mane and Salah?

    Thanks

Template here is max 5% of the 3 million players so solid.
Mane & Salah, I personally prefer Mitro but the masses would prefer King.

Very template but the template is popular for a reason. King over Mitro for me, and I don't see a problem with doubling up on Mane and Salah.

What goalie will most likely get an assist in gw1?

    Gotta switch Lloris to someone

      Cech is on penalties.

An assist? Maybe Schmeichel with his long balls but personally I wouldn't pick a goalie based on assist potential.

Here it is. Is it a RMT i dunno, maybe. Maybe a forum system might be better than an outdated chat system - might keep everyone happy. In the meantime this is my picks, based on a wcard after gw 4 or 8.

    GK Foster, Fabiabski
DEF Luiz, Robertson(or VVD), Mendy, Shaw, Wan Bisara
MID Salah, Erikson, B Silva, Cairney, Costa.
    FWD Aguero, Arnie, King

Would bench Arnie and Mendy GW1 and avoid like 7 players playing over 2 matches

    Salah - Eriksen - B. Silva - Pedro - (Stephens)
    Aguero - Firmino - King

Very similar to mine so I have to say good! Possibly worry about defence once Rico plays for Bournemouth and possible TAA rotation.. that midfield gives you easy trade down though once it becomes clear who the 5-5.5m midfield bargains are.

Very hard for you to chase bandwagons with no one between 5.5 - 8.5 in front 8. Very inflexible.
      But go with your gut.
      Prefer B.Silva/Siggy & Richarlison/Jota instead of Hughes/ Mahrez.

Even tougher to chase bandwagons when you have 2 transfers planned for GW 3.

I don’t reckon I’d chase a bandwagon week 1 or 2. Takes at least 4-5 weeks to become buyable for me. I’ll have 2 frees week 3.
