There were a few surprise selections in Unai Emery and Pep Guardiola’s starting XIs ahead of this afternoon’s 16:00 BST encounter between Arsenal and Manchester City at the Emirates.

The headline news was perhaps Raheem Sterling‘s (£11.0m) inclusion in the City line-up, although Guardiola had teased the prospect of that possibility in his press conference on Friday.

Leroy Sane (£9.5m) is the fall-guy in the Sky Blues’ line-up, to the chagrin of the 14.3% of FPL managers who own the wide-midfielder.

Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m), another late returner after his World Cup exertions, starts on the bench for the reigning Premier League champions this afternoon.

The rest of Guardiola’s starting XI is perhaps as expected, with Sergio Aguero (£11.0m) leading the line and Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m) handed his City league debut.

Alexandre Lacazette (£9.5m) always looked at some risk of being benched for the visit of City and the French forward indeed starts among Arsenal’s substitutes, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£11.0m) fielded as the spearhead of the Gunners’ attack.

Though not likely to cause many ructions in the Fantasy community, Matteo Guendouzi (£4.5m) – who admittedly has had a fine pre-season for Emery’s side – has been preferred to the more experienced Lucas Torreira (£5.0m) in the engine room. Aaron Ramsey (£7.5m) also gets a start for the Gunners.

Nacho Monreal (£5.5m) has failed to prove his fitness, so FPL midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles (£4.5m) deputises at left-back.

Arsenal XI (4-3-3): Cech; Bellerin, Mustafi, Sokratis, Maitland-Niles; Xhaka, Guendouzi, Ramsey; Ozil, Mkhitaryan, Aubameyang

Manchester City XI (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Laporte, Mendy; Fernandinho, Gundogan; Bernardo, Mahrez, Sterling; Aguero

The reason people with high game scores still feel disappointed is because this Gameweek confirmed the incorrect nature of their decisions

    Such as

    Robertson v Van Dijk
    Bsilva v Mahrez
    No shaw
    No Mendy
    Firmino v mane
    Choosing Erickson

All of these decisions were straight forward and objectively obvious.

ahhahahaa what? its been one week mate. let's not boast saying these decisions were obvious. No reason why Shaw doesn't get dropped, Firmino scores a hat-trick next week while mane blanks, BSilva gets rested while Mahrez hauls etc. haven't got time for comments like this.

    - Paying 2.0 for Sane thinking he's one nailed after his omission from WC, when suggestion was pointing to Bilva..
    - JKing could easily have been Zaha with that money..

Would still rather PVA over Shaw, even though I don’t have him....

Eriksen to KDB (my planned transfer)

    Or

Cairney to Neves (catch the price rise)

Should I keep and start both Robbo and TAA for GW2 away to palace? Not sure what to do and Trent to Shaw is an easy transfer.

I'd say hold. Shaw might not be in the team in a few weeks.

If nothing else pressing, I'd do TAA-> Shaw for sure. Looked a little premature, Klopp may consider starting Clyne

Might be easy but it's also daft. I have Shaw, but he'll be dropped soon enough whilst TAA is nailed. Liverpool could keep a CS next week and United might not. Just stick and use two FTs when you have more information and have more flexibility.

    Kepa
    Mendy • TAA • Boly
    Salah • B. Silva • Richarlison • Jota
    Agüero • Aubameyang • Zaha

    (Stekelenburg • Wan-Bissaka • Peltier • Stephens)

Seems alright at the moment, so stick or do a Stek-> Hamer for a second playing keeper? Perhaps a better transfer possible?

Depends where the 5m mid will be your 4th or 5th midfielder. If 4th then do it, if not I would save

      I have this dilemma.

Think I'll wait and maybe use 2 FT next weekend to bring in Mendy (I have Ederson right now)

Think I messed up picking Aguero and Firmino over Mendy and Robertson and going cheap defence but will stick it out because I have Ederson to cover city.

& used up my 3 Liverpool spots with firmino, Mane & Salah.

87 all out nevertheless , decent start.

No pressing issues after an opening score of 77. Is Jota to Richarlison worth doing just for the luxury of a potential price rise? I'd otherwise keep the transfer and can cover him if he's actually injured.
