Buoyed by some impressive scores from the opening day, the Scoutcast crew are in optimistic mood as they tackle the key issues facing Fantasy managers ahead of Gameweek 2.

I’m joined by Andy, Az and new Scoutcast face Neale (aka Skonto Rigga) to separate the wheat from the chaff in the Fantasy Premier League’s transfer market.

We ponder whether reports of the demise of forwards have been greatly exaggerated and list the under-performing players from Gameweek 1 who may well punish their sellers.

Our rough with the smooth round-up features a tale of two benches.

While later in the show I come under attack from my colleagues, and even a moth, as we search for this season’s budget midfield gem.

We end by revealing our Captain choices when Neale unleashes one of the most surprising armband selections the Scoutcast has ever seen. It caps an impressive debut to remember for both him and the moth.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Tuesday evening. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

What’s the thought on Arsenal assets?
Their fixture looks good from gw3 onwards.
Jota to Ramsey/Mkhitaryan could be a potential transfer for next week

I think Jose favours Young and after Shaws gw1 performance he'll keep his place. So until Valencia is fit Young will slow in at right back.

Diogo Dalot, Herrera, Valencia, Romero, Rojo, Matic.
The 6 not available against Leicester. Mourinho Thinks these 6 will all be out again against Brighton.
Pogba, Fellaini , Young all have about 9 days training, returning August 6. Rasford 11 days. Thats the WC players.
I can see how Mourinho will shift out Bailly or Lindeløf now. Both look good.

But ironically, all 4 of Leicester chances came from Shaws left back, Leicester right side. Two of the he could be directly blamed for.
Darmian was outplayed 2 times early by Gray, but Leicester did not produce 1 chance from his side.

Still Shaw is heavily backed to get another start, thats by norwegian United supporters fan site.
His overall game was good, and he had one chance to score, besides his goal.

Foster , easy decision , Burnley vs Watford is 2 defensive teams so it will probably be 0-0 or 1-0 either way imo , Leicester on the other hand were fairly impressive against Utd and i think they will score quite a few goals this year , while Wolves were pretty open at times against 10 man Everton so will likely concede a couple against a decent Leicester side

50% of the game already owns him so, it'll take a decent point haul to convince those without to grab Salah.

More, now WC's don't impact prices, idk if we'll see Salah rise more than .3 or .4 for the yr.

Perhaps a more seasoned FPL vet like @Torresmagic can help us but, I don't recall guys like RVP & / or Ronaldo moving *much* above their £13mil price tag?

Draft question incoming: My "third" striker pick was Mitrovic... currently Wood, King, Jiminez, Benteke, Ineacheao, Sturridge, Joselu are all available to sign (plus quite a few more not going to list them all!) - is it worth to pick one of these instead and go for rotating strikers?

    A) No

What the least number of hits (points hit) you have take on a season.
    I average 20-30 (80-120 points hits a season.
Zero tolerance to hits this year so wondering is possible to go a handful per season or injuries etc all hit?

    1. Homer21
      • 9 Years
      7 years, 8 months ago

Yep, take about 20 odd pts each season myself

    2. Holmes

16pts last year and all hits were taken in GW37, rage transfers... 😮

Planning to go with balanced approach this time, patience combined with occassional hits is important I guess.

Need some luck as well, if injuries/suspensions starts piling up, there is no way to avoid the hits

      1. Albrightondknight
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

Yeah early transfers are good for price rises but can lead to a hit when injuries occur later in the week.
The plan is to only take hits for injuries, have a 2-3 week ahead transfer plan and stick to it.
It lasted about 8-10 weeks last season and then I went back to the old habit of taking hits almost every second week. More discipline required 🙂

Hits are fun though, gives a refreshing look to team. Getting rid of out of form players who are stinking team for a while is a relief 😛

I have gone through seasons early where I would have had none but I never really had a full grasp on how it all worked back then.

Since playing seriously I think last year was the least, just the one hit for the whole season.

Allot better than the year prior, not far off my PB actually, finished 3265, best ever is 2759 although can't recall how many hits that season but I always try to keep them to a minimum.

gone for a strong bench this year to save myself 100 points in hits - will be the same as having an extra 12th player .... just like a 5.0 mill mid chipping in with 100 points 🙂

My free transfers for GW2. Shall I go 4.5m bench player and spread funds or up to 6.5m playing forward.

    Auba/Jun out > 4.5-6.5m
    Jota > Sterling

Risky moves, you will probably want Auba back next week and taking Kun out this week when he is a captain material is not advisable as well.

      Do that move next week

If you thought at the start of the season that Auba and Kun were worth going with I don't understand why you would lose 1 so quickly. Stick with it they both have amazing fixtures

If I get a player on the draft game via waivers but decide to remove him straight away on the free agents window - does he get locked for the GW?

This article does make me optimistic for this GW. It could be summarized as - if you did last week you will be lucky to get 30 points and only then if you play 5 defenders 🙂

not fancying playing either Wan Bissaka and Tomkins this week, so I will probably forego the 5-4-1 option. 😀

    Good to go?

    Pickford (fab)
    Robertson mendy cedric (tomkins,van bissaka)
Mane salah b silva richarlison (stephens)
    Aguero king zaha

Thinking aguero to auba from next week.

Obviously KDB’s injury means more game time for Bernardo Silva and I understand owner’s content to have him. However, if you don’t have Bilva, for me, Gundogan is a far more attractive option to bring in.

Only 5.5 million, so gives you lots more money elsewhere. Very likely to be a regular in the midfield 3 now as I can’t see Guardiola playing both Silvas there regularly and will have a more advanced role next to Fernandinho. Also, has a real eye for goal and is on some set pieces.

    Anyone with me?

    1. Eze Really?
      • 11 Years

I thought about it but the percentage choice is Bilva

Bilva will score more, but don’t think Gundogan will be far behind for 2.1 million less, which allows me to get Hazard in as well.

Am I imagining things or is it not all that long ago since he scored a hattrick? For 5.5m he could be a steal, wil probably be rotated just as much if not less than Sané, Mahrez, Sterling, Aguero Jesus etc so good deal

Yeah, Guardiola mentioned his skill at sniffing out space in the box in that interview he did with the Sky mob. Much less frustrating when a 5.5 mid is benched than my current 9.0 Mahrez, who I think is going to make me fearful every week!

which one is more nailed and which one is the most likely to get rotated so that Pep keeps his players happy ?

It remains to be seen if any player ahead of Fernandinho is actually nailed. Think the minutes will end up averaging out, so stick with whoever you have, but while KDB is out, I think Gundogan’s minutes increase the most

        1. Hotdogs for Tea
          • 10 Years

Gundogan in my opinion is the most at risk of rotation of all City’s front line mids and forwards, especially against weaker opposition

The main reason of interest seems his price ... I have been caught by ‘getting the cheaper option’ trap before 😉

Is something like this too many eggs in one basket
From GW3 or all good, play the fixtures? Granted Liverpools fixtures turn bad pretty quick.

    3 * City
    3 * Pool
    2 * Arsenal

That is 8 of 10 starting outfield players.
