Christmas fixture congestion dominates the final Scoutcast of 2018 as the crew look ahead to four sets of matches over two tightly packed weeks of Premier League action.

Joe, David and Az are joined by Andy to look in detail at how best to navigate inevitable rotation over Gameweeks 18 to 21 and offer their top tips for yuletide Fantasy Football survival.

Community questions the crew tackle include whether Manchester United assets can be trusted for their kind upcoming set of games following the sacking of Jose Mourinho this week.

Danny Ings’ brace against Arsenal last time out is another issue considered, especially as his form adds further weight to the case for going light up top and investing funds in midfield.

Elsewhere, Eden Hazard’s goal, assist and maximum bonus returns against Brighton in Gameweek 17 kickstart a chat on the best premium options for the end of December and early January.

As well as looking back on Gameweek 17’s events, including the community’s roughest and smoothest tales, the crew also look in detail at the next four Gameweeks. This includes their views on the best differentials and teams with the greatest chance of clean sheets over the period.

The crew  find time to reveal their Christmas transfer and captaincy plans. For Az, Joe and David this includes hoping their key striker Harry Kane recovers from a bout of man-flu to take to the field in Gameweek 18.

Anyone who thinks Pep Guardiola is afraid to drop a player is clearly uneducated and doesn't know much about his managerial history.

    Late for training = DROPPED
Too much time on social media = DROPPED
Partying the night before a game = DROPPED
Showing bad attitude/poor work ethic = DROPPED

Showboating in a penalty shootout in the quarter-final of a cup tournament and laughing when he missed = DROPPED

Pep won't show his anger in the media spotlight, that's not his style.

      - Pep said publicly that Mendy needs stop using social media. Mendy pretty much mugged him off by going on Twitter just days after. Mendy started every game until he got injured.

      - People were saying Sterling would get dropped after showboating against Man United. He started the very next game and scored 16 points.

      How are you not banned?

Well if you had asked me before last week if double Irons defence was a good idea then I’d have told you to stay away (fabianski and balbuena owner here for last 5 weeks). BUT, got my first double cleanse last week and it felt great, so welcome aboard 😎 !

I can’t get Anderson as I’ve a powermidfield of Salah, Sterling, Sane, Hazard, Son. But will be getting Arnie when he comes back for sure!

    TAA, Torreira, Kane OUT

    Trippier, Hazard, Ings IN =

    Ederson Hamer
    Alonso Robbo Trippier Keane Doherty
    Sterling Hazard Sane Son Anderson
    Wilson Jimenez Ings

Had an idea for a modification to FPL and curious what everyone's thoughts are...

At the start of the season, there's a generic player option for 2.0 (call him Academy Player or Bench Fodder or whatever) so you can select him and it frees up cash for the rest of your team and he sits in 3rd bench spot, obv.

But in the event he plays because of no-shows, he automatically gives your team a -2 (-4 is better?) and if you transfer him in or out, it's a -2...

So in effect, this generic player option would work kind of a like a mini-enabler (with lower point cost than a hit), but would have some additional point risk if he ended up "playing"
    .
    Thoughts?

it is challenging and interesting to fit a good squad with 100m budget. Your idea would make things easier. So not good idea.

There's non-playing bench fodder now. This would just trade downside point risk (-2 for xfer in/out & -x if plays) for upside point risk (from the extra funds you spend on the rest of your squad).

I think overall, it's probably a minimal net difference, but it might add some additional strategy considerations from a week to week basis... something else for the podcasts to talk about.

Calm down peeps, Alonso gets a full week rest usually. Doesn't equate to attacking returns in the PL match. Don't fall into the trap.
