Fantasy Allsvenskan: Gameweek 14

Double Gameweek 13 review

AIK and IFK Norrköping had two fixtures in GW13 and managers were understandably loading up on options from both squads. The big fantasy-villain of the week would have to be Panajotis Dimitriadis (5.5m) who wound up with a score of -3 (or -6 for the managers who played the “Park The Bus”-chip!) thanks to a red card and two goals conceded. The first game of the double (AIK-Norrköping) was a mixed bag of fortunes as owners of Christoffer Nyman (9.7m) got a nice 11 pointer thanks to his brace, while Lars Krogh Gerson (6.1m) topped the charts with his 14 point haul courtesy of 2 assists and a surprise clean sheet. Gerson got his third yellow and missed out on the second fixture for Norrköping. Beyond that, not many popular options delivered in the first fixture with no clean sheet for AIK, and no goals from Tarik Elyounoussi (9.4m) or Jordan Larsson (7.5m).

The second round for the doublers saw AIK face off against Malmö, and Norrköping taking on IK Sirius. In a controversial game (containing some poor refereeing), AIK wound up drawing 0-0 and managers with multiple defensive AIK-assets drew a collective sigh of relief, yet again though, no points from Tarik Elyounoussi, his move back to midfield seemingly denting some of his fantasy-appeal (so far at least). Norrköping were the overwhelming favourites to (at the very least) score a few goals against IK Sirius, yet despite firing off 13 shots (6 on target), neither Nyman nor Larsson found themselves on the scoresheet. Instead, it was Sirius who also had 13 shots (but 8 on target) who came out victorious through an 89th goal from Philip Haglund (7.3m).

Elsewhere in single gameweek-land, there were quite a few clean sheets and a show of strength from Djurgården, where Kalmar through a sublime performance from keeper Lucas Hägg Johansson (4.9m) merely managed to keep the numbers down. Despite conceding twice, Johansson came out of the game with a 6-pointer, thanks to being credited with 10 saves and 2 defensive bonus points. Djurgården hammered his goal and wound up with 23 shots (13 on target). Man of the match for Djurgården Marcus Danielsson (5.6m) got 14 points through a clean sheet, 1 goal and 2 defensive bonus points. That’s now 14 defensive bonus points from Danielsson on the season, having only played 9 full games. Besides the goal, he also had 3 shots off target against Kalmar…

Gameweek 14 preview

The double gameweek madness of gameweek 11 and 13 (and a terribly timed summer-break) is now behind us and we move on towards gameweek 14, with half an eye towards blank gameweek 18. BGW18 might seem far away (roughly a month to go) but assuming you don’t have any saved transfers, it’s now just 5 free transfers to deal with all the blankers from AIK, Norrköping, Malmö and Sundsvall.

AIK and Malmö still have decent fixtures leading up to GW18, Norrköping’s are a tad bit tougher. Sundsvall really isn’t looking good in general, failing to win a single game since defeating Falkenberg at home in GW6. In fact, their record for the season stands at just 2 wins, 5 draws and 7 losses. With Linus Hallenius sold, the only real fantasy option from Sundsvall appears to be goalkeeper William Eskelinen (5.5m). Maic Sema (8.3m) is one of the biggest disappointments for them with him blanking in every game since GW3, a terrible run of form for an attacking winger who gets 90 minutes every week.

Leaving upcoming blanks aside, gameweek 14 hands us some interesting matchups. Göteborg host struggling Sundsvall, Djurgården travel to Eskilstuna looking to put pressure on Malmö, Hammarby in desperate need to get back to their winning ways host Falkenberg, and Norrköping tries to bounce back from the Sirius defeat at home to Häcken.

Players to target

Marcus Danielsson is quickly establishing himself as both an alternative to, and a double-up option with, fellow Djurgården defender Aslak Fonn Witry (5.1m). Danielsson is doing the defensive side of the game superbly, and he’s always an aerial threat from set-pieces. Add to that the fact that he’s high up the pecking order for penalty-taking duties and he could soon find himself in more than his current figure of 17.4% of all squads. Djurgården’s game against AFC Eskilstuna should provide him with a good chance of gathering more points to his season tally.

Giorgi Kharaishvili (8.5m) is a bit surprisingly only in 7.8% of squads, his record of only 1 assist in the last 5 GWs undeniably a factor in keeping those numbers down. However, as has been harped on about here by myself and others, his bonus game is so good that his floor is pretty much 4 points every game, even when “blanking”. Besides his 3 goals and 4 assists on the season, he’s also on 9 offensive and 11 defensive bonus points from 12 games. Against Sundsvall, chances are good for him registering some more fantasy points, not just through bonus.

Captaincy thoughts

Muamer Tankovic (9.2m) missed out on GW13 with a late omission from the squad due to illness. He should be fit again ahead of a very favourable matchup at home to Falkenberg, who despite losing their whipping boy status a bit, still has a dreadful away record this season – 4 losses and 2 draws. Tankovic is playing for a new contract (naïve hope from a Hammarby supporter) or a summer move abroad (more likely) and he should definitely be able to get something from this game.

Djurgården’s game against AFC Eskilstuna seems promising and besides Danielsson and Witry, Jonathan Ring (8.0m) has a good chance of continuing his positive trend. Any of the three could be decent captaincy shouts, even though many would hesitate to captain any defender that isn’t Daniel Sundgren (7.1m).

Markus Rosenberg (10.3m) has a game at home to Örebro that (assuming he plays) should be quite productive. Rosenberg actually hasn’t blanked in any of the home games he’s played a part in so far, netting an impressive 4 goals and 3 assists from 5 games.

That about does it for this week, did you have a good double gameweek 13?

Who are you capping for GW14?

Have you started planning for blank gameweek 18 yet?

Cheers all!

Meltens

Lovely jubbly. Prob getting Kharaishvili in for Nyman, and captain Tankovic.
Need to fix defence - Andersson/Isherwood, esp also having Sundgren/Mets, but think I'll postpone (ignore) that

Sounds good, I did Elyounoussi-->Kharaishvili and captain will be Tankovic.
Defence is an issue for most ahead of blank GW18, plenty sitting with defenders from Malmö, AIK and Norrköping (along with the odd rotation risk). Will definitely keep Sundgren for his last games, but looking forward to releasing some of those funds tied up in him.

Made similar moves, had two free transfers so out went Dagerstal and Goitom (he was poor pick for the double) and in have come Witry and Kharaisvili. Armband on Tankovic as well.

Very nice transfers, decent chance of immediate pay-off! To be fair Goitom was a chance worth taking, no idea why he's Mr no-goals this season, hasn't been like this ever before. Best guess would be his age is catching up to him and he's trying to be more of a playmaker than a finisher.

Sounds like a good move, especially ahead of GW18.

I'm eagerly waiting for the Göteborg squad to be released before I decide on my move. It will be Adam Andersson out for a Göteborg defender, but havn't decided on whichone yet. Calisir was subbed last game but it was only cramps after being out for a month, so he should be available. If he's in the squad I'll likely do Andersson to Calisir this week, leaving me with exact funds to do Jordan Larsson to Khariashvili next GW (will probably have to be my first early transfer of the season to avoid price changes).

It's certainly not the worst of weeks for your crop of players, I'd also have a look at GW20, with almost the same players. In GW20 there are som good matchups with CS-potential in:
          Djurgården-AFC Eskilstuna, Hammarby-GIF Sundsvall, AIK-Kalmar and Malmö-Falkenberg.

Looks like a great set up for PTB. Meltens makes a good point about GW20, but you would then have to save players over BGW18, and someone might be injuried or suspended by then.

        Another great article Meltens.

I'm tempted to save a transfer this week now and bench Karlsson-Nagemyr. The transfers I'd like require a -8, so I'll wait until next week and just take the 4 point hit.

        Dahlin
        Dimitradis Krogh-Gerson Danielsson Wernersson
        AC Thern Tankovic (K) Ring

I want Jeremejeff and Kariashvili so would then downgrade Thern to either another djugarden or hammarby mid. Good thing there is it gets rid of 2 x Norrkopping for BGW18

Looks good for this GW, so you might as well save the transfer. Would also be carefull with Jeremejeff, he's surrounded by transfer rumours, have a release clause in his contract and might be rotated with the european Qualyfiers coming up. I'd put him in the "Don't buy, don't Dell" och bracket atm.

Have to say I agree with this, would definitely not sell Jeremejeff if I had him but enough questionmarks to think a bit extra before buying. Kharaishvili is very interesting on the other hand!

Gonna be boring and just save a transfer.

        Abrahamsson
        Sundgren - Mets - Bengtsson - Danielsson - Witry
        Tankovic (C) - Andersen - Ring
        Jeremejeff - Kharaishvili

        Five at the back... 😀

Too bad I didn't check here before I made my transfer (although I did it in the morning) and before the deadline.

Andersson > Starfelt was my only FT before I saw he might be on his way out. I didn't see the Tarik benching, I would have taken a hit for Kjartansson or Kharaishvili. Not captaining Tankovic is a bit risky, but we'll see. Starting at 153 OR.

Chip usage, captaincy, ownership, effective ownership stats and template team of top 1000 are here (shameless plug):

Tankovic captained by 41.6%, AC 10.6%
Only player above 100% EO is Tankovic with 123.7%. The closest is Larsson with 76.4%.

Goteborg are bringing me highs and lows right now, got three of them:

          At 84 minutes:

Wernersson - a very, very nice 12 pts
Starfelt - subbed off on 59 mins for 1 pt
Kharaisvili - assist then penaly miss, on 5 pts

Overall got to be happy and look at the points gained rather then the 'could-have-been' points.

          I suppose.

Very mixed start to the GW for me.

Clean sheet and a rare assist from Mets, but also a third yellow card and a suspension next game. Also just a singel block away from another defenisve bonus point.

Decided to go for Calisir who started with an early yellow card but followed up with a goal. Very poor bonus stats though, which was disappointing. Could have been worse though, if I had gone with Starfelt. Now I can still afford Kharishvili for next GW. I was lucky he missed the penalty, and hopefully the knock was nothing serious since he could play on for 90 minutes.

Brorsson on the bench again, as expected but still disappointing. Must hope for an Örebro goal tonight, which seems very unlikely. Yusuf will come in if Brorsson remains on the bench, apparently earning a penalty is not qualyfied as a Big chance, so he stayed on 3p.

Next gameweek will be very difficult for me. I want to do my planned transfer and get Kharishvili, but I got Mets suspended, Brorsson benched and Yusuf injuried so my squad is very fragile.

Tough spot, I guess watch who plays in the European qualifiers and just keep a close eye on updates all around. Kharaishvili was super-involved and even besides the pen, should have scored more. Mets isn't a massive issue, everyone misses out thanks to this 3 YC rule every now and then, obviously a bigger pain with a blank coming up but I'd expect him to be decent for the rest of the season really.

Hoping for a more productive second half from him, it’s mostly been about Kacaniklic so far. Tankovic still quite involved and has hit the post.

Made my first early substitution of the season last night, taking Larsson out for Khariashvili and slightly regrett it already. In hindsight, I should probably have taken Tarik out instead, saving some cash to spend on geting Kacaniclic in soon. Would be a luxury transfer thoug, since I have more pressning issues like Brorsson and Sundgren. I really hate it when you have to make boring, sensible moves... 😉

After looking at the GW20 fixtures, I had decided to play my PTB that week. The biggest decision is to get ready for BGW18 and WC after that, but that would leave me with difficult decisions after GW20. The other possibility is getting ready for GW20 and WC after that.

Is Kjartansson leaving after next week? That should be an important decision for Tarik replacement. I also do not know who will replace Sundgren after he leaves. He missed only 15 mins all season and he was replaced by Rashidi in that game (vs. Djurgarden).

It's not very wise to plan long term, but I am looking at fielding the following 11 with Park the Bus in GW20:

          Linner
Danielsson - Witry - Larsson - Mets - AIK Defender (ideally not Karlsson as he's so expensive)
          Christiansen - Tankovic
Jeremejeff - Larsson - Djurdjic (Kjartansson if he does not leave)

It's not bad at all. The only downside is the possibility of playing with 8-10 players in BGW18.

Any thoughts on Kjartansson and Sundgren replacement?

Kjartansson is leaving after next GW and thanks to his genius 93rd-minute YC he's suspended for his last game as well. He and Hammarby would like to extend his loan but Rostov (very involved in Swedish football at the moment) want to either get him back or sell. Probably too expensive for Hammarby to sign permanently. Djurdjic will stay and in the very short term, might get moved up to spearhead the attack. Longer-term I suspect we'll sign a new striker, too risky going without backup.

I'm also planning a PTB in GW20, most likely a WC in GW19 to set it up. As for Sundgren, "the world is your oyster" 😉
His price means anyone can be recruited but blank gameweek 18 is messing with the options... Depends a lot on your current defence? Witry and Danielsson are superb options. Wernerson looks interesting as well for Göteborg, and both Sandberg and Widgren had a good game for Hammarby.

Actually, not sure on the 3 YC thing with Kjartansson, the graphics at the game said 3 yellows on the season which would mean a suspension (also read it in a post-game article) but when manually going through the games I can only find 2 in total, including yesterday. Allsvenskan Fantasy has him down on 2 YC as well. It seems that he then has one final game to play.

Thanks for the information! I have been interested in Djurdjic and Kjartansson for quite some time now, so would like to get one of them finally. If Kjartansson leaves then Djurdjic will be a great pick.

It does depend on my current defense because I do not have Sundgren at the moment, so any AIK defender I am getting will likely be an upgrade. I have Larsson, Danielsson, Larsen, Starfelt (only brought in this week, wish I went with Wernersson) and Odilon at the moment... So only 2/5 right now. Is Starfelt injured btw?

I am not yet sure about when to WC but have to decide soon. If I go with WC19 that will mean I have to downgrade my defense after GW20, likely with at least 2 FTs. But in that case, at least I will be able to get ready for BGW18. It is a tough choice.

Keep a close eye on Kacaniklic as well, he was electric yesterday. Has experience way beyond this league, playing quite a few games for Fulham both at Championship and Premier League-level. Granted, this was his first goals since 2015 but injuries has been a big problem for him these last couple of years. If fit and back to form, he can really smash it. Granted, it was Falkenberg (who were truly awful), but still quite a showing and very involved in everything - could have had even more points. Djurjic to be fair looked brilliant as well and confirmed what we already knew that he's second in line for taking pens.

Witry is the one I would target then, he's struggled a bit with niggles but is super-involved in Djurgårdens attack. Could probably match most AIK-defenders to be honest. Not sure about Starfelt, doesn't seem too serious, this article says he had to go off as he was starting to feel "less and less well", whatever that means: https://www.expressen.se/gt/sport/fotboll/allsvenskan/duon-tvingades-kliva-av-han-madde-inte-bra/
Keep in mind that he's heavily rumoured to leave quite soon if a club comes in with a good enough offer.

If I were in your situation, I'd wildcard in GW19 and play PTB in GW20. That would allow you to use your transfers now for short term moves on in form players to maximize your points, since you'll be wildcarding in 19 anyway. Any specific reason to why you feel you have to downgrade the defence afterwards? Money in defence is usually money well spent in this game, so I would condider stickning with most of them even after you've played PTB.

Yes, that makes the most sense and what I have in mind currently. Planned how I will navigate BGW18 (only have 3 FTs). It might change due to injuries or suspensions but I am fairly confident for now.

You are also right on defense but I do not want to tie up all my money on 5 defenders. Could go 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 (depending on the options emerging) but that's easily doable with 2 FTs after GW20. I would like to be flexible instead of going 5 defenders every week.

Keep an eye on Granli at 4.4. He was selected ahead of Panos against Kalmar and could be a superb option to save you some cash. By GW19 we should know enough about his status in the team.

Agree on Granli, one to watch. He probably got the start this week because of Europe qualifiers, but could possibly threaten Panos even longer-term (regardless of AIK's longevity in the tournament). The beautiful thing about a PTB in GW20 is that (assuming AIK Twitter keeps it up) we'll be able to know their lineup pre-deadline yet again!

A tip for Fantasy Allsvenskan players is to keep a close watch on AIK Football Twitter: https://twitter.com/aikfotboll ahead of the games.
They tend to release the lineup a bit earlier than an hour before, this GW it was all of 1 hour and 14 minutes, and the subs announced 1 hour and 8 minutes before the game, allowing fantasy managers to make a last-minute call based on team sheets.

It just so happens that AIK has the first game of the GW for the next three GWs as well... 🙂

Great advice, thanks! That info made me start Larsson with Yusuf first sub, which saved me a few points. Knowledge and planning is certainly the key to this game. Almost 200 have transfered Mets in this GW despite him bring suspended, for example. Also saw a guy who was around 30th place overall who used his second wildcard this GW. He had 4 non-playing players on the bench and 7 players in the line-up without a fixture in GW18...

Yeah I saw the fixture run as well, really good stuff! I think we need to calm the hype train a bit though, Falkenberg were truly awful on the night. I'll cover the game a bit in the GW-review and specifically Kacaniklic and Djurdjic performances. Worthy to note that Kjartansson will leave soon (loan expires) and a new striker is most likely being announced in the coming days.

All that said, a double-up is on the cards for me and if I'm really feeling the new striker, maybe a treble. Not sure I'd really recommend it though 🙂

I'm tempted to get rid of Thern & Elyounoussi, and was thinking of getting in Kacaniklic, and waiting on Djurdic, as I already have Tankovic.

Might just opt for Kacaniklic and go for a Goteborg attacker up front

Makes sense, I imagine Kaca/Tankovic will be a popular combo going forward. Luckily his haul was missed by almost 98% of the teams!

Tripling up is probably one too many. Hammarby are a good attacking side but that's mainly at home. Away, they have only scored 6 goals in 7 games, and now they have 3 games away in the next 4. Also, with Kjaertansson leaving It's hard to say how that will affect theire attacking potential.

Kacaniclic would be a good differential, and would also allow you to go with Khariashvili up front if you dont have him already. Djudjic is perhaps the more safe choice if you could find a good midfielder to combine with.

Havn't seen any explination to Sundgrens absence yesterday, but if would put me in a pickle if he misses out this weekend as well, as it leaves me with just two playing defenders. Since we're likely to find out before deadline when AIK publish theire starting XI, that would leave me about 10 minutes to make a last minute sub if Sundgren is out. So hypothetically, what do you think I should do if I find out that Sundgren is out?

            A) Do Sundgren to a Häcken defender for -4p

            B) Do Brorsson to Sandberg for -4p

            C) Leave it and field 2 defenders and hope for a suprise appearence from Brorsson?

If I take a hit, the new defender will obvioisly have to get at least 4p for the transfer to pay off short term, although it would be a long term move as well.

            Thanks!

              Latest on Sundgren: http://www.fotbolldirekt.se/2019/07/10/just-nu-aik-stjarnan-ikvall-det-har-tar-jag-med-mig-livet-ut/
He says goodbye to the AIK-fans on Instagram in a post that could be interpreted as him having played his last game for AIK. He's not confirming it completely, but I'll try to translate it for our English readers as well so they can form their own opinion:
"I would like to start this post by saying thanks, thanks to all AIK supporters who have backed me through thick and thin. You have been loyal to me since day one. I've been playing with the club badge on my chest with pride. AIK will always be my the club that raised me and I will tell that to my children in the future with pride.
I got to do more than 100 games for AIK, wear the captain's armband and also win the league. I will take that with me for the rest of my life. Without all of you fans, there is no Daniel Sundgren. I'll forever be one of you".

In my mind that seems like he's a goner already, but maybe he get's one last game at home to say goodbye to the fans. Hopefully, AIK Twitter do their thing again and we'll be completely sure pre-deadline.

In your specific case I think it makes sense to ship Sundgren if he's not going to play, he's at the very maximum got just one GW left anyway. Brorsson probably needs to go eventually as well but he at the very least has a chance to feature after GW15 🙂

Big Fantasy Allsvenskan news alert: Daniel Sundgren has been cut loose from AIK with immediate effect: https://www.aikfotboll.se/nyheter/60377. We'll cover this in the GW preview as well but in short, the club states that Sundgren said he did not want to be selected for the European qualifiers and then shortly before the game pulled a sickie. A part of the deal with his new club was that he was going to play in this round so understandably, AIK will not be very happy with this. That said, they're essentially throwing him under the bus now and I'm personally not sure this is a great way to handle it. Thoughts? Who are you getting in for Sundgren?

Thanks! In scenarios like this, I almost always agree with the club rather than player. He's under contract and has agreed to play for AIK until the transfer window opens. The fact that he would have been cup tied until january isn't new information, so he should have negotiated this earlier and not call in sick a day before the game. It's difficult for clubs to run a team if players suddenly think they can break written contracts and agreements. To me It's simple - don't sign anything you don't have the intention to follow.

Yeah I think it's a bit silly from Sundgren and very unnecessary in the bigger scheme of things given the relationship he has with the supporters. I'd imagine he would like to come back someday and doing stuff like this isn't ideal, although most will probably forgive him given time. I still think AIK could have handled it better, this is coming off as a bit more emotional than professional.

As I've mentioned earlier, this puts me in a pickle with no free transfers and only 2 playing defenders this GW. I have to take my first hit of the season, even though those -4p will cost me 4-5 places before the GW has even started.

Despite having 7.1 to spend on replacements, I find it very difficult. Going without AIK defender this GW could kill me, but it feels very short term to bring in Lundström, Granli or Panos without knowing how Norling will form his defence now. The blank gameweek and european qualyfiers is also messing things up a bit.

Malmö is also out of the question, mainly because of BGW18, and the same goes for Norrköping. My ideal replacement would be Wernersson, but I already have 3 Göteborg players.

That leaves me with Sandberg (whos likely to come in later anyway) or a Häcken defender. Häcken also have theire european qualyfiers coming up, and none of theire defenders are good on bonus. Lindgren is probably the best player, but I doubt he'll stay fit for all those games at his age, so I might opt for Toivio instead.

Yeah the blank and uncertainty around how AIK will line up does throw a spanner in the works but Toivo seems like a good option. I'm not entirely sold on Sandberg, I watch all their games and even though he's pretty involved in the attack, Hammarby are terrible defensively. Dennis Widgren on the other flank was also a lot more involved than Sandberg against Falkenberg, I will keep an eye out for how that develops and whether or not it was just a temporary thing.
