Everton take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the penultimate Premier League fixture before the international break.

Goals have been hard to come by for these two sides this season, with no club having scored fewer than the Toffees – although Marco Silva’s side, of course, have played a game fewer than 16 other teams.

Wolves themselves have only hit the back of the net on two occasions, one of which was a stoppage-time penalty from Raul Jimenez (£7.4m) that salvaged a point against Burnley last weekend.

Jimenez starts this afternoon but for once he won’t be joined by his regular striker partner Diogo Jota (£6.4m), who is only among the substitutes.

Jota fails to start a Premier League match for the first time since Gameweek 21 of last season.

Jonny (£5.5m) and Joao Moutinho (£5.5m) are also rotated from the Europa League tie against Torino on Thursday, while Matt Doherty (£6.0m) misses out altogether.

Patrick Cutrone (£5.8m) is handed his first league start for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, while Adama Traore (£5.0m) and Ruben Vinagre (£4.4m) are trusted with the wing-back roles.

After being patient with his new signings so far, Marco Silva gives full league debuts to three of his summer recruits: Moise Kean (£6.8m), Alex Iwobi (£5.9m) and Fabian Delph (£5.4m).

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.9m), Bernard (£6.5m) and Morgan Schneiderlin (£4.5m) are the men to make way from the Gameweek 3 starting XI but Seamus Coleman (£5.5m) keeps his place at right-back, with Djibril Sidibe (£5.4m) only on the bench.

Lucas Digne (£6.1m), Jordan Pickford (£5.6m), Leander Dendoncker (£4.5m) and Jimenez are the only players on show at Goodison Park who are owned by more than 10% of FPL bosses, with Digne the most-popular option.

While goals have been hard to come by, the ball hasn’t been flying into the net at the other end: no club has kept more Premier League clean sheets than the Toffees (two) this season, while no side has shipped fewer goals than Everton or Wolves (two each) – although they are, of course, a game behind.

Everton XI: Pickford, Digne, Mina, Keane, Coleman, Delph, Gomes, Iwobi, Sigurdsson, Richarlison, Kean.

Wolves XI: Patrício, Bennett, Coady, Boly, Traoré, Dendoncker, Rúben Neves, Saïss, Rúben Vinagre, Jiménez, Cutrone.

Certain types of English players usually get overhyped

          E.g Scott Parker, Rashford

Certain types get undervalued because we don't appreciate what they do e.g Carrick, Delph, Lallana

English players get over hyped by the media, not the fans.

Football fans only ever talk shite about English players.

            1. @persecuted_by_mods
              6 years, 10 months ago

Partly true, yes there's too much partisan behaviour but each club will overhype their own talent regardless of media

Yeah if you go online fans just hate almost every, seen people talk about Rio, Cole, Rooney, Carrick as if they were joke players. Michael Owen too it's so ridiculous we just hate our own constantly

Yeah those players you mentioned are prime examples. When they were still playing, they had nowhere near the respect they deserved. (Rooney & Rio in particular)

Rashford is one of the best young strikers in the world. Fans of opposing clubs need to get behind him to turn him into another shearer/Rooney for the better if the national team

    Afternoon!

Three Jota replacements I am considering.

    Barnes
    Kean
    Wood

Probably going to pull the trigger tonight, unless it's Wood that I go for.

    1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 16 Years
      6 years, 10 months ago

I would advise waiting for 13 days - an awful lot of sht is going to hit an awful lot of fans over the next 2 weeks - FT's are precious & you can still do the transfer then 🙂

      But kean imo

      1. Richd
        • 14 Years
        6 years, 10 months ago

Normally I agree with this. But this situation depends on price rises really. Jota could drop, and the others could rises.

Always have the WC in my back pocket should it go wrong.

        13 days makes me sad

        1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
          • 16 Years
          6 years, 10 months ago

I'd still advise hold - dont worry about the price rises - ignore the nagging FOMO, it is the enemy

          There'll always be options

Settle thine nerves & hold keep thine powder dry!

            • 14 Years
            6 years, 10 months ago

I freed up funds with my FT this week purely to have money to upgrade Jota. I can't miss this opportunity 🙂

        • 12 Years

But what if you have a certain amount in the bank for your intended transfer, and one rise/drop prices you out, you have to do it

        1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
          • 16 Years
          6 years, 10 months ago

Then you let the price rises happen, keep the FT in the bank, and reassess in 13 days - dont let yourself get boxed in or pressured into an early decision due to a price rise/fall

Richarlison is similar. Maybe even Ronaldo too.

Nothing a bit of hard work can’t solve.

Ronaldo was extremely technically skilled but not particularily athletic as a youngster. He added the athleticism later with insane training ethics. Those are the players that become great, not some guy who has coasted through youth levels on natural athleticism

Ronaldo was always physically gifted. Hard work improved his skills and latterly kept his levels up. I think you’re making it up to justify your premature judgement of Kean tbh.

Just saying don't judge a guy after a couple games when you're probably overweight yourself playing a virtual game

Who was it that had triple Everton defence? Hahaha, someone was campaigning for it before the Villa game

Everton are shocking defensively. Only a casual would own more than one everton defender

Planning a GW7 wildcard (if my team can last that long) and realising there's simply too many options.

Considering that Salah and Sterling are staying in, which of these do I go WITHOUT?

    A) De Bruyne (assists)
    B) Aguero (the king, but possible rotation)
    C) Aubameyang (great fixtures)
    D) Vardy (great fixtures from GW7)

I know De Bruyne is raking in the points now, but he will inevitably get rotated when the European games roll around. As will Aguero, added to the fact that Jesus will be back soon.

I would either go without Aguero or Kevin if you have Sterling. The other 2 are the main men in their teams and will play the majority of games.

I'd say KDB was more nailed than any of them.

Not paying 100% attention but all the ones I've seen so far were from the right side, Iwobi is cutting inside so they don't get free kicks/corners on the left.
