We’re halfway through the first international break of the season and things are starting to get ugly.

There’s only so much tinkering we can do. Players will get injured. Prices might drop.

Whisper it, but it’s around about now that real-life threatens to fill the Fantasy void.

Help, however, is at hand from FanTeam‘s €100,000 Champions League Event – the world’s largest Champions League Fantasy tournament.

This season’s competition kicks off on Tuesday, September 17, and FanTeam are offering a guaranteed €100,000 prize pot regardless of the number of entries.

The winner will take home an eye-watering €20,000, pay-outs extend all the way through the top 600 and there will be weekly prizes to sweeten the deal as well.

The beauty of FanTeam‘s event is its similarity to Fantasy Premier League.

There’s the same £100m transfer budget, the familiar 15-man squad and the standard three-player maximum from each team.

And the scoring system, with a few slight tweaks, is virtually identical.

So it’s incredibly easy to pick up and play.

But FanTeam‘s competition does have a few modifications to stir the interest of even the most jaded of FPL managers.

Each Gameweek deadline is just ten seconds before kick-off, so there’s plenty of time to finalise your side long after the teamsheets are announced.

The curse of being £0.1m short of making the perfect transfer could be lifted with the news that a player’s selling price remains the same as their buying one – regardless of in-game rises or falls in value.

And talking of transfers, you get two free ones every Gameweek and they can roll over to a maximum of four if you’ve got the nerve and the patience.

FanTeam‘s €100,000 Champions League Event will run for the six rounds of the tournament’s group stages, with €500 going to each Gameweek’s best manager and a massive €1,000 up for grabs for the highest Gameweek score of the competition.

All that for an entry fee of just €25, with a maximum of 20 teams allowed per user.

To sign up, click here.

While you’re there, you can also check out the finer details of the contest, including the complete scoring breakdown and the full prize fund on offer.

    B) WanB + Greenwood > Kelly/Sub 4.2m DEF + Barnes -4
    C) Wan B > Digne

    2. AndyCook

Abraham can wait given next two, those two should show what he’s made of. If he can influence those games and look dangerous then I’m all for him

  8. AndyCook
    6 years, 10 months ago

Why are people so adamant Alexander-Arnold is England’s best right back, he just isn’t a strong enough defender for me that he’s an obvious pick - it’s definitely up for debate, a lot of quality there

    1. gergin
      • 10 Years
      6 years, 10 months ago

He is not best of course. He is not top either.

    2. Piggs Boson

      6 years, 10 months ago

They all have different qualities. I do think Trent has the best all-round game at the moment though. His set-piece delivery he's catching up to Trippier's; he's still quick, though not as fast as Walker; and his defensive qualities are improving, though no where near AWB's. Hopefully he starts against Kosovo so we can see how he improves us in the attacking third.

Trippier wasn't playing an attacking role against Bulgaria and stayed quite deep and narrow supporting the midfield with his intelligent passing. He's the best suited out of the 4 for that kind of role. It just depends what Southgate needs in that particular game.

      1. AndyCook
        6 years, 10 months ago

I feel like we like him to make up for our lack of creativity in the middle, which I understand, but that is a more fundamental issue for me.

        1. Piggs Boson
          • 14 Years
          6 years, 10 months ago

It did take away our width on the right 1st half, until Sterling stayed wider for longer 2nd half. He'd still come inside once the attacking move crescendoed.

It was a very Pep way of playing, with the narrow fullbacks and the wide wingers for the first 2 thirds of build up, before the widemen shoot into the half-spaces. Width is so important in build-up, someone has to maintain it. Trippier worked well for us narrow in that game.

      Taa: artist
      Awb: defensive beast

    Pope
    TAA, Digne, Laporte,
    Mount, Salah, Sterling, KDB, Dendoncker
    Pukki, Barnes

    Heaton, Lundstram, Söyüncü, Greenwood

    £0.4 ITB

    A) Save FT and play Lundstram, then sort Donkey and Laporte next week with 2FTs

    B) replace Laporte this GW

    C) Take hit and replace Laporte and Donkey this GW

    1. AndyCook
      6 years, 10 months ago

Well Laporte is injured, you have enough to replace with anyone in the game (expect Alexander-Arnold who you have) so doesn’t seem to make much sense to keep him another week? Unless you want more information

      1. Nomar
        • 16 Years
        6 years, 10 months ago

Was more a case of rolling the transfer to next week or doing it this week.

I don’t mind playing Lundstram this week but don’t obviously want to lose money on Laporte when he starts dropping.

        1. AndyCook
          6 years, 10 months ago

Yeah but I guess you could play the new defender and Lundstram? I guess the advantage I see is knowing who you might want next week so you don’t spend all your budget this week/not as much as you should have. I would think the new defender would be a better option than Dendoncker this week

    2. Hitmonlee
      • 7 Years
      6 years, 10 months ago

      A!

I’m doing the same but playing Lund instead of AWB.
Last time I didn’t play Lund he scored 14 points. Can’t let that happen again

    3. MTPockets
      6 years, 10 months ago

Who would you replace Laporte/Dendocker with?

      1. Nomar
        • 16 Years
        6 years, 10 months ago

Tempted to downgrade Laporte to a 4.5 to rotate around the other 2 cheapies to free up some cash for a tasty Barnes to Vardy move in a few GWs time.

        1. MTPockets
          6 years, 10 months ago

Then I'd roll FT this week. You have enough bench to cover Laporte and even Dendoncker not playing for a game

    4. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus
      • 16 Years
      6 years, 10 months ago

Play Lundstram, shift Laporte next week with 2 FT’s

Lundstram has a fair chance of getting some points this week

      1. AndyCook
        6 years, 10 months ago

He can still play Lundstram over Dendoncker though even if making the switch for Laporte and Dendoncker probably doesn’t have much chance of points

Does everyone think Abraham is nailed? I’ve an element of uncertainty with two other quality strikers in the wings..
Tempted to get Haller instead but would mean a -4.
    What’s people’s thoughts?

Could be ok, could be a train wreck

As annoying as Kane and AWB are, they both have decent fixtures this week & could really bite sellers (or holders lol)

Digne is a must though imo.... Firmino... he’s been decent, but I’d prefer to use Liverpool slots on TAA, VVD, Robbo, Salah, Mane & go for one of the other 9.5 ish options out there (KDB, Son, Pepe, Vardy etc)

    4. AndyCook
      6 years, 10 months ago

One thing stats don't account for. LUCK. Firmino decent points. With luck he would have an extra 16 points. Emerson. Look at his points. Garbage. With luck and no cleanies he would sit on 25 pts. Who do you rate as unlucky. For me Trossard and Robbo stand out apart from the 2 already mentioned. You guys take on poor luck to own atm.

    Thoughts on my current wildcard;

    Ryan Button

    Digne Zinchenko Pieters Mings Lunstram

    Sterling Mane KDB Pepe Dendoncker

    Abraham Barnes Ayew

Too much in midfield and too little up top?
    Any comments welcomed

    Cheers

Play King vs EVE or do -4 for one of Haller (avl) /Barnes (bha)/ Abraham(wol)
Sadly cant 2 of those as playing 3-5-2 and have Pukki

If Maddison had decent finishing he would be one of the most exciting young players in the world

    Would you do

    a) AWB > TAA (already have Robertson)
    b) AWB > Pieters

    b) would enable (Wesley > Hallet/Abraham) next week
