We’re halfway through the first international break of the season and things are starting to get ugly.

There’s only so much tinkering we can do. Players will get injured. Prices might drop.

Whisper it, but it’s around about now that real-life threatens to fill the Fantasy void.

Help, however, is at hand from FanTeam‘s €100,000 Champions League Event – the world’s largest Champions League Fantasy tournament.

This season’s competition kicks off on Tuesday, September 17, and FanTeam are offering a guaranteed €100,000 prize pot regardless of the number of entries.

The winner will take home an eye-watering €20,000, pay-outs extend all the way through the top 600 and there will be weekly prizes to sweeten the deal as well.

The beauty of FanTeam‘s event is its similarity to Fantasy Premier League.

There’s the same £100m transfer budget, the familiar 15-man squad and the standard three-player maximum from each team.

And the scoring system, with a few slight tweaks, is virtually identical.

So it’s incredibly easy to pick up and play.

But FanTeam‘s competition does have a few modifications to stir the interest of even the most jaded of FPL managers.

Each Gameweek deadline is just ten seconds before kick-off, so there’s plenty of time to finalise your side long after the teamsheets are announced.

The curse of being £0.1m short of making the perfect transfer could be lifted with the news that a player’s selling price remains the same as their buying one – regardless of in-game rises or falls in value.

And talking of transfers, you get two free ones every Gameweek and they can roll over to a maximum of four if you’ve got the nerve and the patience.

FanTeam‘s €100,000 Champions League Event will run for the six rounds of the tournament’s group stages, with €500 going to each Gameweek’s best manager and a massive €1,000 up for grabs for the highest Gameweek score of the competition.

All that for an entry fee of just €25, with a maximum of 20 teams allowed per user.

To sign up, click here.

While you’re there, you can also check out the finer details of the contest, including the complete scoring breakdown and the full prize fund on offer.

      Interesting model that Watford have.

Manager is literally only there to manage. No control over transfers, football philosophy etc.

Means that the manager is easily replaceable.

Wondering whether to use it to get haller instead of Barnes up top (get pieters in defence)

Otamendi definitely worth it now Laporte out... only 5.4 for a City defender is a bargain.

Otamendi is quite prolific going forward too

I just wonder whether the CS’s will dry up now with Laporte out & rotation set to increase + champs league returning

Ota is left footed which is a big advantage, but Stones, Walker & Fernandinho will get games there as well

Maybe, but it doesn’t make sense to change up the whole back line - a solid back line is an unchanged one - laportes injury requires change as such I’d expect little change elsewhere

No Sane means Pep will likely play Mendy to bomb down the left side when fit, don't think Zinch is nailed at all.

              • 7 Years

It's all guesswork, Cancelo could be used to bomb down the right instead of Walker and I doubt he'd play Mendy too. Realistically, everyone will rotate at some point apart from Ederson.

        3. Pukki Blinders
          • 6 Years

Walker only usually plays CB in a back 3 though right? He'll probably be a last resort... but I definitely see Fernandinho rotating with Stones/Ota. Ota still worth it though for me.

4 or 5. Depends if Eriksen can sort his head out and concentrate on the game

Could score 8 or more, but with him and Spurs it could just as easily be 1/2. They/ he has looked crap in the league.

I’m not bothering, yet anyway. Looking more at Son if anything

I hope he runs riot and repays me for all those easy home games in which I captained him.

Kane clearly is not playing for Spurs today. Chances of him being a troll GW5 🙂

Has TAA had any minutes yet? Will be good for Trent owners if he hasn't.

Am I correct in seeing Walker not even in the squad today?

Yep. Southgate going with youth now. Walker sidelined.

Its hard to pick when there are so many decent players in the same position though

Correct. Wasn't called up. 4th in line behind Trippier, TAA & AWB it seems.

Ouch. I’d put him ahead of Trippier at least I think.

Any chance AWB gets a game v Kosovo rather than Trent do you reckon?

AWB had to leave the squad with a back injury. Just Trippier and Trent as options.

Nah, I think he's still first choice, Southgate said he just wanted to look at others, he knows what he gets from Walker.

Southgate made a point of explaining that Walker has been playing really well and he wasn’t dropped. But he wanted to check out alternatives, and didn’t want to call him up without playing him.
