Making mistakes in Fantasy Premier League is the easy part.

Fantasy managers can do that on a weekly basis, from the wrong captaincy decision to disastrous bench selections.

The tricky part is learning from those errors and attempting to improve each Gameweek.

In this week’s Scoutcast episode, Joe is joined by Holly and FPL Family’s Lee for a soul-searching look ahead to Gameweek 12.

They consider some of the errors they’ve made this season and what they’ve learned from them.

Meanwhile, the community owns up to their own blunders. More of these can be found via Joe’s Tweet on the issue earlier in the week.

The Scoutcast crew also look at the Lord of FPL (aka Sheffield United star John Lundstram) and how he’s transformed the game this season.

With a fixture swing and questionable captaincy credentials, Manchester City and Liverpool assets also come under scrutiny.

Lee takes his turn to pick a differential, clean sheets get an airing and there’s a cavalcade of fireworks to contend with in this packed episode, that was recorded on November 5.

Finally, our podcast and video trio reveal their plans, including captaincy choices, for the next set of fixtures. Is this the week they finally learn from their mistakes?

This Scoutcast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel. Be sure to subscribe to get notified of future live episodes.

In addition, the Scoutcast and all our other podcasts are now also available via our Soundcloud channel.

Yes that and the fact that Lacca is back could actually help. Opposite of what everyone is thinking. Also Lei attack should be covered. Ideally have both Vardy and Auba.

Not just Djenepo haha, although he is one of them.
And not just talking about this week. My few years on this site, I dont quite share my *crazy* picks when I get that Eureka moment.

      2. Differential C (Mark)
        • 10 Years
        6 years, 1 month ago

Its more like, I want people to say their well-though of opinion, but most of the time its just an instant shut down. No explanation, no nothing. I want an open discussion, but seems like unpopular picks will instantly get rejected without a second's thought.

I dont expect everyone to agree with my opinion, but I'd like some sort of discussion, at least.

the djenepo was a joke because i know youre high onhim hahha

bro i know what youre saying.. its because people here absolutely hate differentials.. biggest herd mentality.. thats why you get the same team posted 700 times. others try and skew people to buy their own players or not sell players that they own because they dont feel upto it themselves.. thats why when people suggest mount to tielemans which is perfectly reasonable they act like its an unforgiveable sin.

Preach! Wouldnt quite word it like that, but you've hit the idea.

Most popular picks are fine, but I dont like exposing nyself to tunnel vision and closing myself off some lesser known players.

Its all about getting players in before they become the template.

The irony is you seem to just take the polar opposite approach from those you are criticising, assuming there is some sort of virtue in suggesting something nobody else has. The vast majority of the time somebody is a "differential" it's because they are unlikely to score a lot of points.

Not sure what kind of discussion you are after. How many ways can people express the opinion "I don't think he'll score many points"?

          1. Differential C (Mark)
            • 10 Years
            6 years, 1 month ago

I've always felt the game was about getting in a couple of differentials who you think will become the template in a few weeks time. Thats just how I see things.

Its like, the template has often closed people's minds to other options.

Well, yeah," I dont think he'll score a lot of points" is an argument, but why? Perhaps its because the club isnt very good? Because he didnt pass the eye test? Stats dont look good? Something, yknow?

            1. Conik
              • 10 Years

The game is about scoring the most points.

I think that's the internet, not just this site. I've been a member here for six years and a lurker for three or four before that, and I use this site for inspiration, news and occasional banter, but I learned a while ago not to ask team selection /transfer questions on here. Just go with your gut after you've read and watched...

If you express an opinion with good rationale then no one will have a go and the sensible people will really appreciate it.

If you just post ‘Walcott is essential, lol at non owners’ it won’t go well

There you go, hit the nail on the head. A open, xchange of ideas discussion is what I qant to see more.

Bold statements with not rationale are offputting, althought there are certain players that have the form to justify the essential tag, to be fair. If a player scores left right and center every week, then yeah, I can make argument against that.

I posted a Djenepo post and detailed why I think he could be a good pick, and was a little surprised by how open the mejoroty of replies were. Not all agreed, but at least there was a discussion, y know?

Interesting! What are your transfer plans for the next couple of weeks?

I'm kind of stuck tbh. Weighing up losing Sterling to fund a decent 5th mid and then get Robbo after IB. Just not 100% on this though...

I have the funds to do Ota to Robbo and I will do that after City plays Pool. Then I would like to save my transfers and get Pope out when Burnley's fixtures turn.

Also tempted by Son. I'm convinced Spurs bad run will end soon... maybe

    Hi all

Just seen that Son is on 0.0 on FPL statistics, does this mean he's about to drop?

    Thanks

Is that because he had a red flag which was removed?

    TAA Tomori Lund (Soy Otamendi*)
    Sterling KDB Mane Martial (Saka)

Was thinking Sterling Maupay > Mount Vardy with money ITB to get Robbo in for Ota next week but with the Mount injury doubt idk what to do. Thoughts?

Mount injury makes life easier for you. No need for changes, good team already. Though maybe look at dropping ota to a cheap to fund vardy?

        Unaffordable with Maupay to upgrade

Think hes worth a go. Chelsea have a real chance to push for the pinnacle. If Liverpool lose this weekend, the race would become hell of a lot more open. Chelsea need to put everything into the next few games. Pulisic is in strong form, so think his nailedness is assured for a few weeks at least.

Do you think Pulisic will go central to replace Mount
or is he purely a wingman.

He may play centrally and CHO out wide.

    a) Dilva -> Martial for free

    Or a much sexier..

    b) Dilva, Aguero -> Mane, Jiminez (-4)

    Please help me decide

Or roll over the FT and make those changes during the IB. But depends on who is taking place of Dilva on your team.

You have to decide whether you play chess or poker 😉

a is the safer option and probably better. JimEnez needs to score one to even get even 😉

Have done Aguero + Wilson to Vardy + Jimenez

If Mount is injured what would you rather.

    1. -4 to Martial
    2. -4 to Pulisic
    3. Play Lundstram
    4. Play Cantwell
    5. Play Cancelo

See there was quite an interesting discussion up the page re 'differentials'.

Two players for me was Lundstram, I have had him from the very start, cannot think there were that many teams which had him from GW1? Ofcourse now he no longer is a differential but I am keeping him. I did reasearch on him before the season started and thought a midfielder as a 4.0 FPL defender had to be worth a shot.

McGinn, another player which not many teams had. Had him from GW1 and moved him on in GW11. He served me well and is still a differential and moved him on for Perez. If it does not work out then I may get McGinn back or go for Grealish.

I currently have both KDB and Sterling and thinking of losing one of them for a Leicester mid to upgrade Connolly to Jimeneze ( already have Vardy). Who would you lose and who would you get? Currently leaning towards KDB> Tielemans. This would also leave me with enough ITB to upgrade Tomori to Robbo to have double Liv def + Mane. I think the difference between Maddison and Tielemans is smaller than the difference between KDB and Sterling. I could do KDB to Maddison but then I cant upgrade Tomori to Robbo anymore.
    So basically:
    A) KDB+Maddison+Robbo
    B) KDB+Tielemans+Robbo
    C) Sterling+Tielemans+Robbo
    D) Sterling+Maddison+Tomoro ( + ~1M)

    Pope, Button
    Robertson, Chilwell, Lundstram, Kelly, Janmaat
    Salah, KDB, Maddison, Mount, Dendoncker
    Aguero, Abraham, Mousset

    A) Aguero -- Vardy
    B) Aguero + Mount -- Rashford + Alli (-4)
    C) Aguero + Abraham -- Rashford + Vardy (-4)
    D) Just use a wildcard and solve this mess removing Salah, Mount, Aguero, Abraham, Mousset, Maddison
