The Scoutcast crew have a busy evening of Fantasy Premier League discussion ahead of them.

Join Joe, Az and Lee from 20:00 GMT to 21:00 GMT for episode 309 on our YouTube channel.

While Spurs and Manchester City play their latest Champions League matches, our panel of pundits will be focussing on these two teams in particular.

The arrival of Jose Mourinho in north London has the potential to unlock several Fantasy assets while Sergio Aguero’s (£11.9m) injury could see Gabriel Jesus (£9.5m) get a run of starts.

Meanwhile, our talking point revolves around the concept of stubbornness in FPL.

How long is too long to wait for a player to become good? At what point do you recognise that the in-form option you don’t own won’t stop scoring?

Tune in shortly to find out!

Having a woeful season - what would you do here?

    A) Wilson -> Jimenez (save FT)
    B) Digne & Wilson -> Doherty & Jimenez
    C) Digne & Wilson -> Tomori & Jimenez (leaves cash for Mount -> Pulisic)
    D) Digne & Wilson -> 4.0 (Williams) & Vardy
    E) Something else

    Ryan
    TAA, Aurier, Soyuncu
    Salah, Sterling, Mount, JWP
    Abraham, Pukki, Wilson

    Button, Lundy, Digne, Dendo
    Bank 0.1m, 2FT, WC available

Sure, you have too much money tide in defense. No point keeping Digne when you have 4 other very good options. Free up some cash with a 4m def and get Vardy!

Yeah that works. Losing Sterling is obviously a risk, especially as I can get Vardy without losing Sterling in D.

Son is great, but do you think he’s a better pick than Sterling?

    Am I G2G this week :

    Pope
    TAA Chilwell Lundstram
    Mane(C) KDB Maddison Mount
    Vardy Jesus Abraham

    Button Cantwell Lowton Kelly

    1FT/ 0.1ITB

Should I do Lowton --> Cahill or Pope --> Henderson with the remaining FT?

    What to do....

    2.5 ITB and 2 FT

    Pope
    Soy, Tomori, TAA
    (M)ane Mads Mount* KDB
    Tammy, Vardy, Jimenez

    Button, Lord, Cantwell, Diop*

Currently on Mount and Diop to Pulisic and Cahill. I could afford Doherty or PVA, but that's a benching headache that's not worth having.

6 points ahead in my ML for the month and my closest rival has 8 players the same. I could do Button to Henderson and Diop to Cahill and play my bench boost. However, I feel this would be a waste.

Jimenez is at home, he's in great form; scored in his last 3 games . Lundstram is a great FPL asset, but he's scored 3 goals this season - 2 in 1 game. The chances of a clean sheet for SHU are about 25% I think. To me, though close, it seems like the right decision.

        1. Crazygopher

The way I'm looking at it is. Jim 3/3 50% blank at home. Team playing in Europe. 1 cs at home. Lord. Sheffield 1 blank away from home. Good chance Sheffield will score. But will the Lord be involved. His a midfielder not a defender. CS points are a bonus.

Getting myself very confused with potential wc.
Who is "essential" out of this mid?
    A) KDB
    B) Mane
    C) Chelsea mid - pulisic/willian/mount - is kante an option?
    D) Leicester mid - maddison/perez/Tielemans
    E) Son
    F) Martial

        -8 and save WC?

        Pope Mcg
        Robbo Pereira Lund Cathcart Rico

Just be cautious on WC at the minute - Margins are so fine in FPL

Can you imagine the impact to the current points/transfer landscapes from the following simple scenarios for example:

      - Mount scores v West Ham
      - Liverpool keep a clean sheet home to Brighton
      - Bournemouth win or draw away to Spurs

The FPL world would be pretty much flipped on its head overnight (again!)

Yeah, I am reluctant to use WC. I would just be using it to get Son in really. Maybe just Martial to Pulisic this week

      • 7 Years

A and B are the only essential ones.

If I were to wc though, I’d want a power 5 of - Mane, KDB, Son, Pulisic, Maddison (which is what I currently have)

    4. Rust Cohle

D & F not essential. Not saying that the rest are, but I would try to build around most of the remaining. Truth is that probably none are essential. If you purchased A & B on the ground floor, I would say that those two are very tough to drop or go without which is as close to essential as there can be.

Is there any chance Mourinho has done a 180 and wants now to be considered an “attacking” or “entertaining” manager

    That’s 11 goals scored/conceded in his first 2 games

    1. zøphar
      • 16 Years
      6 years, 7 months ago

I expected him to be attacking in his first few games at least, this was the case at Chelsea and United as well. The man does everything possible to do the opposite of what people expect of him

Mourinho is a tactician ; he will change how he plays depending on the opposition. That said I think he’s plentiful aware of Spurs lack of defensive quality so outscoring the opposition is always going to be the easier option.

    Morning folks!

Would appreciate your help here. Which option do you think I should go for?

    A. Mount to Pulisic

    B. Mount to Alli
    Or
    C. Mount + Otamendi to Son + Guilbert/C. Taylor (-4)

    Cheers all.

when making transfers my priority is always to identify the weakest link in the team and work from there, hence Otamendi out

And yes I do think Son is a better option than Pulisic, I think he's one of the men nailed for 90 every week under Mourinho which is huge in this festive period

    2. PapaWengzz
      • 6 Years

Nuno would be perfect. Tbh we need a manager who likes playing 2 up top, Auba and Laca are our greatest strength and if someone has a system where they can play well in a strike partnership, we are straight away in the business.

Also, Tierney and Bellerin fit the wingback system perfectly, The only thing missing would be Mids the quality of Neves and Moutinho. Willock, Torreira, and Guendouzi, though they have great potential, are far from the top 4 standard. The Quality in CBs is OK IMO (Holding, Chambers, Luiz, Sokratis, Saliba coming next summer) with a manager who can help them get organized.

      1. Bushwhacker
        • 7 Years
        6 years, 7 months ago

Nobody plays two up front any more, you can’t high press with two up, you need three for width. Nagelsmann would be a much better bet, I think Nuno would find it hard to leave Wolves.

    Vardy (c) Abraham

Button Mousset Janmaat Rico (0ft 1.5m itb)

I did Sterling to Kane last week and currently have no City. Son is an exciting option as always... just the fear that Jose might have him playing a bit more defensive than he's used to out wide but should still score well imo. Tough one though!

          Exactly
Not having Son last season burned me completely so I'm a bit concerned.
City are playing so bad atm too making it more tempting 😮

Same thoughts here. I even have enough cash to get Son for Martial or Pulisic without a hit. But thing is all 3 (KdB, Martial, Pulisic) have good fixtures this weekend.

And KdB plays Newcastle who are notoriously conceding from set-pieces. West Ham these days concede for fun, even Villa at home is a good game for Martial.

So I'm still struggling to pull the trigger, saving an FT for the 3rd time in 6 seasons of FPL just looks so yummy

I’m pondering KDB > Son as well...

What worries me is KDB getting 20 points from Newcastle/Burnley - he’s due

But on paper, it’s a move we probably should be doing given city’s form... still not 100% convinced. Y spurs either

City are a much better team and should score much more goals, with KDB being as involved as anyone...

        Very hard to know

Leaning towards holding KDB & observing spurs & City for their respective 3 premier league games in a week to see where they really are before flogging KDB

I was all set to pull the trigger on Sterling & KDB to Salah & Son but now I'm doubting myself as well. Perhaps just getting carried away with the Son hysteria around these parts and you're right, we've yet to see Son up against a decent side where he might be required to pick up more defensive duties.

KDB against Newcastle is certainly not the worst match up so maybe waiting is the best option after all. Think I'll just do Sterling to Salah if Salah looks ok tonight and save the other transfer.

          Thanks for the wise advice!

Advice required, save FT or make changes?

    Ryan
    Pereira, Robertson, Tomori
    Tielemans, Martial, Mane, KDB
    Vardy (C), Jimenez, Abraham

    1FT/1.3 ITB

    Button, Lundstram, Mount, Kelly

    Considering the following:
    A. Martial to Moura
    B. Mount to Pulisic

    Cheers!

I haven't made a transfer for about 3 weeks because I just like my team but I really have a transfer itch I need to scratch.

Sterling and Wilson > Son and Rashford... madness?

Surprised Wilson going at this late stage.
Your TFR will be quite a common one, albeit KDB to Son seems more likely.

          I actually agree with you.
I am keeping KDB and don't know how to get Son.
I do think Son playing that wide will reduce points potential

We all thinking GW14 is a mega haul? I have 10 home players with easy fixtures and KDB playing away.
Team is below gtg? 0 FT
Plan is GW15 Pope to Hendo which will leave about 2.5 ITB.
In a few weeks should I be looking to upgrade both Stephens and Greenwood or just one of them for the busy fixtures? Thanks

    Pope

    TAA Robbo Soy Tomori

    Mane KDB Son Tielemans

    Vardy Abraham

    Mc Govern Lundstram Greenwood Stephens

Since you have 2.5, making small upgrades like Greenwood to Mousset/Ayew and Stephens to Fleck/Jorginho can work but they are not priorities as of now. Maybe when you have spare FTs.

Ignore my other post pls: Consider my team and how close. (0.1)
      Same
      Same Aurier Same Same
      Same Same Same Martial
      Same Same
      Gazza Same Jimi McGinn

Slightly ahead of you in terms of bench transfers but your side is great IMO. I think my 3rd sub is a waste and maybe too much spent on my 8th forward. With a fairly high TV I felt I could afford it.
Have you ever bothered to work out how much it has cost to have Pool defensive assets in your side?

I replied to the other post before I saw this. Your bench looks very strong so.
The balance between a headache and a strong bench is difficult. But if we can afford to have them why not I suppose.

Just the four 3pm fixtures on Saturday but I'll hopefully have Mane(c), Taa, Robbo, Kane, Pulisic, Mount & Pope with all of them playing at home!
Will stock the fridge with beers for that lot (11pm ko here).

Morning dzzz, having such a tough deciding on what to do with rashford and whether to downgrade him to improve team but its seems wrong removing him given his form.

    Pope -- Heaton
Taa Lundy Tomori -- Rico Lascelles
Sterling Kdb Martial Mount -- Cantwell
    Tammy Vardy Rashford

    A: Sterling + Lascelles >> Mane + 4.2m def
    - but doesnt seem optimal use of 2FT's when i don't like my midfield and want son and pulisic

    B: Sterling + Lascelles >> Son + Robbo
    - like this transfer but means no mane (potential rank buster) and benching Tomori for his good fixtures..but i like having a decent 1st sub

    C: Sterling + Martial + Rashford >> Son + Mane + Ings (-4)
    - Very tempting but getting rid of two MU assets before Villa at home?

    D: Sterling + Mount + Rashford >> Mane + Pulisic + Jimmy/ings (-4)
    - also a good option but basically betting that the different between pulisic (and mount) is far greater than Rashford (vs jimmy or ings)
