Fantasy Football Scout are delighted to officially open the free-to-play Sorare Academy tournament, Ignition.

We had a fantastic response to the beta last week, with circa 2,000 unique teams created and 10 lucky winners taking home a Sorare card.

And we already have more entries than that for this week – so enter a team now and see if you can win! It’s completely free to play.

“But how do you play?”, we hear you ask. Well, let’s cover everything you need to know to get started with Ignition.

We’ve designed it with the same core rules as the main Sorare game (called SO5), so it will be easier to jump across to that when you are ready. However, we’ve also made a number of changes to make life easier for new players.

  • Sorare tournaments are usually played with a squad of five, although it is likely 11-a-side versions will appear in future.
  • In Ignition, you can pick players from the five main European leagues (English Premier League, La Liga, Ligue 1, Serie A and the Bundesliga). There are plenty to choose from, however, you will notice that not all clubs and players are available yet.
  • This is because all Sorare cards are officially licensed by the clubs. Sorare are bringing new clubs on board every single month and over time more and more players will become available.
  • Your team must have:
    • 1 Goalkeeper
    • 1 Defender
    • 1 Midfielder
    • 1 Forward
    • 1 “Flex”, which can be an additional Defender, Midfielder or Forward.
  • Once you have a team you are happy with, select your captain. Pick wisely as your captain will get 20% more points!
  • Ignition always takes place at the same time as the Sorare weekend tournament – any players from the big five leagues with a game between Friday and Tuesday will be available for selection.

Quick Start Guide to Player Selection

Your players’ real-life performance during games determines their score on Sorare. Later in this series we will give a full explanation of the scoring system and how to master it. For now though, let’s focus on getting started and having fun as soon as possible.

We’ve simplified player selection down to the main factors that influence success. When picking your team, try to select players in each position with the following traits:

PositionDesirable Traits
GoalkeepersKeep clean sheets
DefendersKeep clean sheets, score goals and/or assist
MidfieldersScore goals and/or assist
ForwardsScore goals and/or assist

The scoring system can look quite complicated but it really does boil down to these basics.

PRO TIP: In addition to the above, be aware that the scoring system will also give bonus points for the players’ overall contribution to the game beyond just clean sheets, goals and assists.

So, if you can find players who do all the above yet also tend to see a lot of the ball, make a lot of accurate passes, create big chances, gets shots on target, or make a defensive nuisance of themselves with blocks, tackles and interceptions and duels, you’ll likely get an edge.

Think of how much influence Lionel Messi has on the overall game in addition to his creativity and goal threat – that’s the sort of thing we are looking for, here.

The Fantasy Football Scout Premium Members Area can, of course, help with that.

With that, you know enough to build your first line-up and enter Ignition! It’s completely free and if you do well you can win some Sorare cards to start your collection.

Team dependent. And risk taking appetite. I will have Livra coming off the bench against my captain but I am ok with it.

If he only misses the City fixture, it's really not that bad. Plus if you had him from 7.5 you're unaffected by the next price drop. I'm more concerned with moving Shaw out of my team

Not sure ATM.. Definitely keeping this week, got Williams to cover.. Next week may be, will get Cancelo for him or Williams(got money itb) based on TAA's injury update..

I presume something like LiveFPL is safe from FPL data breaches as it only asks for your team ID to position your publicly available team data against the millions of other teams out there?

      Correct

yeah, just don't use FFFix - anything that either uses your FPL login OR the email you signed up to FPL with is risky - even this website probably

      1. Miguel Sanchez
        5 years, 24 days ago

I’ve never really gone beyond FFS but my spidey senses would start tingling if I had to put my FPL login credentials on another site

Same here. I just use this site and LiveFPL, but I've changed my password just in case!

      what happened??

      1. Miguel Sanchez
        5 years, 24 days ago

Loads of FPL accounts have been hacked and deleted but seems they used a third party app that requests your FPL email and password.

LiveFPL is safe as it just needs your ID number which is publicly available

        1. OverTinker
          5 years, 24 days ago

          what the hell !!!!
Shocking. I am pretty sure it can be reversed though.

              whats holding them back though?

              1. Miguel Sanchez
                5 years, 24 days ago

Sets a precedent that they will reinstate any deleted team

                1. OverTinker
                  5 years, 24 days ago

Yes but the things is so many account got deleted at once. I guess they will treat it differently. They have the database to verify everything they need to.

    4. ⭐ Bemba_Da ⭐
      5 years, 24 days ago

I don’t think you can really say anywhere is safe. It’s probably using your data somewhere

      1. ⭐ Bemba_Da ⭐
        5 years, 24 days ago

Correct term is likely to be safer than others who require you to login with your fpl password

      2. ⭐ Bemba_Da ⭐
        5 years, 24 days ago

Also if you use the same password on many sites more chance of being hacked

Big sites will have a big data breach leading to email and passwords being exploited and then people will use the same the same login details against other sites using sophisticated tools. Third party sites might be partly to blame but there are other reasons too

        1. Miguel Sanchez
          5 years, 24 days ago

Yeah - think it was when Andy (LTFPL) got hacked last year that I properly updated my password and soon after got 1Password which has been a great online password manager

    Evening all

Those wildcarding this week and going for Kaku over Ron.

...Is your plan to leave money itb to get back Ron in one swoop, or soak up the cash and get him back in 2-3 moves?

    1. bench boost for every gamew…

I think plan is to get lukaku to 12.2-3 and Ronaldo down to 12.5 or below..

Soak up cash, will hopefully stick with Rom for a while

    3. Shah G

Good looking squad. I'd consider Sarr and one of the Arsenal boys to Grey and Gallagher. Sarr, Saka and ESR are all great value, but not sure on the Arsenal double up and Sarr's fixtures will be turning after this week. All solid picks tho

      1. Cheeky Onion

      Livra or Duffy
Seems as if every free kick is aimed for Duffy and he gets open. If I go to 4 premium defenders it will be hard to drop Duffy.

How will Xhaka's injury impact the Arsenal line-up?

Will it just be a straight swap with Lokonga or will Odegaard be pushed back to a 8, with ESR as a 10, Saka on the left and Pepe on the right? If that is the case what does this mean for Saka and ESR points potential?

As a prospective Saka buyer I don't like the idea of him playing something akin to a traditional winger. Would much prefer him as a wide forward that cuts inside and shoots.

    1. SADIO SANÉ
      5 years, 24 days ago

      ESR Partey Ode
      Pepe Auba Saka
      -or-
      Lokonga Partey
      Ode
      Saka Auba ESR

yeah - in the first one, Saka and ESR both become worse picks probably

      1. SADIO SANÉ
        5 years, 24 days ago

wouldn't surprise me if that happens tbh, but guess we have to wait and see

      2. Forza Papac
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

I guess with Saka he's more likely to play the 90 than ESR and Pepe, so could have minutes on both sides once subs are made and the shape is tweaked depending on the match situation.

        1. SADIO SANÉ
          5 years, 24 days ago

yeah, unless he starts playing Auba LW again then Saka is pretty safe, and is almost certainly their best player

    2. Andy_Social
      5 years, 24 days ago

I'd would expect Lokonga to play - he's looked decent enough. I don't see any change in tactics, but there might be a less tangible difference. Without Xhaka will the Young Team lack leadership when the chips are down, or can Partey fill that role?

      1. GreennRed
        5 years, 24 days ago

Xhaka's leadership skills are fairly flaky at times. Too prone to get in disciplinary bother.

1 FT, 2.2m ITB & saving my WC

    Sanchez
    TAA - Shaw - Regulion
    Salah - Raph - Benrhama - Sarr
    Lukaku - Antonio - Toney

    Foster - Veltman - Tsim - Brownhill

    GW 7 Transfer - Shaw > Rudiger
GW 8 Transfer - Sarr > Saka (potentially roll FT or use for fires that appear over intl break)
GW 9 Transfer - Ronaldo + Regulon > Lukaku + Cancelo (free if I roll GW 8, -4 if not)

    These look like reasonable moves?

    Salah Greenwood Jota Ben Torres
    Lukaku Antonio (Scarlett)

    1 FT 0.3 ITB

    B) Do I need to remove anyone from defence if Shaw is fit?

Already out, no benchings of the regular defenders.

What is people’s thinking about Taa injury? I planned to get Alonso for Marcal and double Che def with Christensen but now not sure.
Keep Trent or sell for Alonso?
I have Marcal, Taa*, Christensen, Tierney and Omo in defence.

Seems like it will be very difficult to predict Chelsea lineup this weekend, all defenders starts..

Not sure - As Andy at Let's Talk FPL pointed out, it's easy to interpret Alonso or Chilwell starting as a good or bad sign.

Apparently Chilwell is really lacking in confidence/form at the moment though so make of that what you will

I think Alonso starting is good news for Alonso owners (unless he has another poor performance today), I say that as a non owner

Probably for the future yes, but for one week I think no it probably means chilwell comes in against Southampton

I need a guaranteed starter for GW7 so really not sure what to do!!

Until I see Chilwell actually start an important game I refuse to accept that

Is there a cheap mid (below 6m) that you'd want long term and think will return this week? I cant really think of anyone and so Im thinking I might as well hold Jota and Torres and wait for more information before selling one. Theres an off chance one of them returns too

      Mbeumo and Zaha

      1. Alisson WondHaaland
        5 years, 24 days ago

Well Zaha is above my budget anyway, but Mbeumo is a decent shout

I'm in the same boat, if Raph's fitness is cleared, I'll go there, but I'm skeptical with him too considering he will be a doubt for GW8

      1. Alisson WondHaaland
        5 years, 24 days ago

I own Raph myself, fairly confident he'll be fine although he might get an early sub again
