Subscribers of Fantasy Football Scout may have noticed a recent addition to the Premium Members Area over the last few days.

Previously, users could only view certain player stats by position – for example, looking at the goal threat of midfielders or the distribution figures of defenders.

Now, however, we have introduced another option that allows Premium Members to study various metrics and include all outfield players in their results.

You can find this filter in the Player Stats menu under Outfield Players, as shown below:

Premium Members Area update: Compare FPL player stats across all outfield positions

So, for example, we can see directly how Trent Alexander-Arnold’s (£7.8m) creativity matches up with other players further forward or, as seen below, how Joao Cancelo‘s (£6.6m) attacking threat compares with midfielders and forwards:

Premium Members Area update: Compare FPL player stats across all outfield positions 1

Above: All outfield players sorted by goal attempts over the last four Gameweeks

Our thanks go to Mat and Will for their work on this.

And remember, if you’re not currently a subscriber and wish to ‘try before you buy’, we still offer a seven-day free trial of our Premium Members Area. Head to this link here to sign up for a week at no cost.

Easy move. I can only assume those saying no have either not watched the last 2 games or have Son already and can't get rid. Or they are scared of Jota. He is injured though so I'd wait

Son might be the easiest asset to get rid of, as he's an easy swap to virtually any midfielder

I'm getting that nagging feeling that I always seem to get around mid-November that my team is starting to go wrong.... What do you think is the priority to address here?

I feel like Dias needs to go, but it's a question of whether I go for Chilwell, Reguilon or a nailed 4.5 to free up cash. Mbeumo needs to go soon as well, Foden is starting to feel like a problem rather than an asset, and as long as Broja is not starting regularly I am locked into formations with only 2 forwards - although maybe that's not such a big deal the way this season is going.... Any ideas? Thanks 🙂

The problem with dias to chilwell that chilwell will have to play vs united then bench vs watford then westham... But long term may be the right transfer.

Yeah, also as a general rule I've never been the biggest fan of a defensive double up, though of course it can pay off. Dias was a last minute, not-thought-through pick on my WC 5 weeks ago, since when he has scored a grand total of 10 point. I'm leaning towards Reguilon, good fixtures, carries an attacking threat and save a little bit of cash.

Tottenham didn't look any good defensively so that means relying on attacking returns.. Might be good option but atm prefer chilwell knowing that he won't score as much as he did last 4/5 weeks.
Dias over chilwell on my WC cost about 40 points.

Man U are crap though Chilly could score big there or against West Ham, the bloke is playing as a striker half the match... and there's nothing to say he will be benched vs Watford, not sure why this idea has taken hold on here

I do like Zaha, for the lower ownership and I think he can (potentially) justify the extra cost over Gallagher. I've had Foden for 5 weeks and apart from one explosive and slightly jammy return, he's been a bit of a pain. He's being playing really wide left and not carrying enough goal threat for my liking so I wouldn't particularly advocate going for him. I like Jota as well, with Firmino injury and upcoming AFCON he has potential for significant game time and at least when he does play, he is (unlike Foden) playing central and carrying goal threat

      1. Long ago I drew a walrus
        • 15 Years
        4 years, 8 months ago

It works both ways and is dependant on what your rank actually is. If you're outside the top 100k, you don't need any differentials to climb rank, zero, nada. And let's be honest, not everyone in the Twittersphere is top 100k. The template team is more than enough to get green arrows since those around you don't have those players, heck I was at 96k before this week and there were a few similar ranked players in my ML who didn't even captain Salah. One guy captained Jesus, and had Nick Pope VC. But I had a good week (99pts) and am now top 20k, and on Sunday Cancelo's haul barely moved my rank. I would imagine if you go up the rankings, there'll be a higher concentration of people with the same players and that's when you'll need the differentials.

        1. joey
          • 15 Years

My team is pretty template (86% I think on livefpl) but this week I went from 4,600 odd to 2,352. My main differential is Wilson who got 1. It can be a differential having a combination of players, James and Chilwell are both template but less than 1 in 5 of the top 10k have both for eample.

My team is 84% template and I am getting green arrows. I have 3 differentials, 2 of them have done nothing. Your set of 11 itself is a differential as most won't have your exact team.

Ignore ownership and just focus on points now. The time to look for differentials is the end of the season when you want to climb to a certain rank and have limited time left to do so.

My opinion is that our main goal should be to maximize points, transferring players in only because their ownership is low more often than not will actually be damaging to the team. If there is a strong template, then let it be, it will be more difficult to climb ranks, but there will also be times, when template is far from the optimal solution and there is your chance. Imho with FPL it is like with most of the competitions - regularly gaining small advantages over other players and grinding the results.

"Benching headaches" are a terrible thing.

Defensive double-ups are one of the riskiest moves in FPL. (Actually, having e.g. James and Rudiger this week would have got you 26 points for 12.0m without even captaining. What premium attacker gives you that value?)

Doing a lot of preseason tinkering to try out every possible initial team is a good idea.

Should we sell Antonio now or keep him. His games get a lot better soon and Jimenez get a lot worse! and there is not much else to pick from at that price!

Don't transfer early! There are probably as many reasons to transfer early as late.
Your mind is made up before the noise.
You can obviously make and save money.
You should have a decent bench this week to cover injuries.
      and many more!

Bust open the 'Triple Captain' chip myth....

It is not x3 'better'/'more important' than other weeks... it is simply 'one' extra captains worth of points in any given week as you'd captain them anyway.

Try not to over worry when using it basically! (Never seems to go that well for me anyway!)

I'd be interested to hear a discussion around the merits of getting off to a good start. Is there less relative change in points later in the season than at the start of the season? If you don't go template at the start, and the template starts well, is your season over? (speaking as someone who got a 50:50 call wrong, and went for a few differential picks in my opening team to put me about 100 points behind after 2 weeks)

The myth of double gameweeks being the only viable time to use a bench boost. It may have a higher points ceiling on paper but given the amount of planning needed, the impact on your team structure and the unpredictability of DGW teamsheets I'm not sure if it's worth it!

We have seen from Moyes that he will start players that he trusts and in-form. It is Johnson's spot to lose but we could see some rotation next month. One other suggestion is Guehi from Palace. Similar to White with ceiling but has the fixtures
