Scouting The Doubles

As if you hadn’t heard already, six top-flight teams will play twice in Double Gameweek 29, after three postponed Premier League fixtures were rescheduled for mid-March.

Following our look at Arsenal, attention now turns to North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, in this, the second instalment of a four-part Scouting the Doubles.

Notably, in addition to their ‘double’, the Lilywhites also have a guaranteed fixture in Gameweek 30, making their assets more appealing for those attempting to negotiate the blank without a Free Hit.

All stats taken from this article are from our Premium Members Area.

THE OUTLOOK

Sizeable Double Gameweek 22 a possibility after FA Cup replays scrapped

Tottenham Hotspur’s unexpected elimination from the FA Cup means that Antonio Conte’s side can not only offer us players who ‘double’ in Gameweek 29, but also assets who are unaffected by the blanks in Gameweek 30.

For those looking further ahead, Spurs will also have another Double Gameweek to come between now and the end of the season.

And the remaining fixtures themselves are very decent, with eight of their last 12 games of 2021/22 against teams currently ranked 11th or below in the Premier League table.

Spurs’ performances have been a bit Jekyll-and-Hyde in 2022, with five wins and four defeats in the Premier League since the turn of the year (see below). However, they have improved of late, with back-to-back 5-0 and 4-0 wins against Everton and Leeds United respectively.

  • Tottenham Hotspur 5-0 Everton
  • Leeds United 0-4 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Burnley 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Manchester City 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers
  • Tottenham Hotspur 2-3 Southampton
  • Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Leicester City 2-3 Tottenham Hotspur
  • Watford 0-1 Tottenham Hotspur

Now, they face a Manchester United outfit whose defensive deficiencies were badly exposed in Sunday’s derby, plus a Brighton and Hove Albion side who have conceded nine goals in their last four league matches.

    RMWCT 🙂

    Schmeichel - Dubravka
    TAA - James - Doherty - White - Holgate
    Salah - Saka - Raphinha - Maddison - Kulusevski
    Kane - Vardy - Hwang

9 DGWers + Raphinha (NOR) + James (NEW) in 29.

    11 players in 30.

    FH 33. BB 36.

    Would you change anything? 🙂

Not keen on Schmeic. Leicester defense is weak.
      Holgate to another cheap defender.
      Maddison to Barnes?
Also not keen on Hwang, but options are limited. I have fodder there myself.

Also not keen on James for 29.

Quality over quantity for me in GW 30, as long as you got 8+ playing.

Leicester and Everton are going to have the most DGWs and with the WC gone, I can’t chop and change GK spots and fodder defender. Hence Schmeichel and Holgate. I will squeeze out some doubles out of them.

Can have Broja instead of Hwang but that would mean 1 less player in 30. Since I don’t need Hwang after 30, so why not 1 extra player is the thinking.

Barnes I’m certainly considering. Probably will go with him.

        Cheers for inputs.

Agreed, Schme, Doherty, Hwang and Maddison not great picks. Last 3 are far from nailed. Well Maddison is but always injured lately.

Those who did not in 26, i pressume.
Salah got 2 pretty good games, as Brighton are in awful form, Webster out, and Arsenal are tough in terms of getting 3 points but they are not rock solid at the back.
Salah were not his best bs Inter and despite that he was 2 shots in post from a huge haul.
Happy i did in 26, but this double becone much better in my eyes, than it perhaps looked initially.

Yes, at the minute I'm taking a chance on Kane. Thought about it for a few weeks, it's risky with Spurs being Spurs but they have nothing else to play for and are beginning to pick up some sort of form, both Brighton and ManUtd will go at Spurs giving them room to counter and both of those teams need wins so I'm hoping it will be fruitful

Bottomed, any transfers worth it, 1FT

    Sanchez,
    TAA, Cancelo, Dier
    Foden, Son, Salah (c), Raphinha
    Toney, Wood, Broja

Thinking Ramsey to Martinelli (cant afford Saka), or Coady to James (if James doesnt start tomorrow, if he does then I dont think he plays the weekend)

Norwich away similar to Newcastle at home but what’s more important is rest days, 5 before Newcastle and only 3 before Norwich and Lille.

I'd get james after their blank.

The front line is weak, plus wolves is a bit too much for me.

It requires major surgery though, like WC.
In general, your money is spread a bit thin all over.
Maybe you could spare some change here and there.

Cheers, good input. I played BB this week (Toney, Son & Dier) so that went well. Play is to FH in 30 and WC in 31, will be getting much weaker bench now BB is used. Clear out of Wolves assets, Raph etc in 31.

          BB explains it. 🙂
The chip plans look good, so you can clean up the house in 31.

    TAA Robbo James Digne
    Salah Saka Havertz Coutinho
    Lacazette Broja

    Sa Jimenez Saiss Ramsey

Probably doing the same move. In your case I would transfer out Havertz instead of Coutinho

    Just seen I can do Ramsey to Kulu, so would you;

    1. Ramsey to Kulu
    2. Ramsey to Martinelli

Have no Arsenal, have Son & Dier from Spurs.
Will be FH in 30, I think both will get similar mins.

I like both tbh. Maybe Martinelli seen as you have Son?

      Check the schedule;

      Spurs play Saturday Wednesday Sunday
      Arsenal play Sunday Wednesday Saturday

I think Kulu gets more minutes

Hey guys! Hope you are all having a great day. Pretty happy with my team so far after a WC... what do you think?

    Sa Dubravka
    TAA Robertson Coady Dier White
    Salah Coutinho Raphinha Saka Willock
    Kane Jimenez Broja

    0.5 ITB
    1 FT

Could do Willock > Kulu (was originally planning it next week) or roll the transfer

    Anything else that stands out?

    Thanks!

Why havent FPL placed cancelo on a yellow? Pep said in his presser he was sick and cant play a match on Wednesday, surely this places a little bit of doubt on his place at the weekend?

    Morning

Apologies for the lengthy post, but I'm a little stuck on best moves for this week so would appreciate your input. (Current team with planned FT used is below).

    Dubravka
    TAA - Rudiger - James
    Salah - Son - Raph - JWP - Coutinho
    Broja - Pukki

    Would you

    a/ Stick
b/ -4 for JWP to Kulu
c/ -8 for JWP and Countinho to Saka & Kulu
    d/ -12 for c plus Lacazette

    A. Digne (whu, ARS)

    B. Doherty (mnu, bri, WHU) -4 (10 players in Gw30)

    C. Robertson (bri, ars) -4 (9 players in Gw30)

    Play 9 in GW30 for a -12
    Or use FH in 30

Plan to WC 32+ and BB in 33/36

    Dier or Doherty?
    Is Dier safer?

Dier is safer but pretty much has a 6 point ceiling.

I think Doherty is the best pick of the two, although I'm not keen on Spurs defence regardless of the DGW.

Or just get Davies and save .2m?

Dier, should have scored Monday night too

Got zero Spurs assets, which one is more priority?

    A) Coutinho -> Kusulevski
    B) Coutinho, Semedo -> Son, Doherty (-4)
    C) Coutinho, Semedo -> Kusu, Doherty (-4)
    D) Watkins, Coutinho -> Kane, Kusulevski (-4)
    E) ...

    Lose one for Doherty?

    A. Digne
    B. Cancelo. Would mean a player less for gw30.

If Cancelo isn't fit for 29, and Digne is, I think he's a better sell.

Which one seems better move assuming I have 9 players for 30 and won't use FH?
    1. Jimi to Laca
    2. James/ Rudi to Robbo ( in this case I can bench Jimi and play Broja in 29)?
