With Fantasy Premier League (FPL) resuming on Boxing Day, we’ll be welcoming back our stellar team of Pro Pundits and Hall of Famers for the restart.

Only Premium Members are able to read every single one of these pieces, so sign up today – or take our three-day free trial! – to get full access not just to the editorial content but all of the other benefits, from hundreds of Opta stats to a transfer planner.

First up is Burning Questions co-host and four-time top 10k finisher Pras, who takes us Gameweek by Gameweek and discusses the stand-out players.

The FFS Pro Pundits 30

It was a nice little surprise from the Premier League to announce some Double Gameweeks during the World Cup break. FPL managers can start waking up from their mini-hiatus hibernation and get their thinking caps on as to how best to navigate these.

It should also be said, however, that the ongoing World Cup and the teams that progress late into the competition will no doubt alter plans.

Announced doubles

Let us first look at what has just been announced, using the excellent Legomane’s detailed fixture breakdown.

    FRESH FPL CONTENT!

    Now where's my baby oil?

I predict 20 to 30+ points left on the bench every week for that draft.

I have a similar draft actually. One fodderish spot in defence (Patterson probably), but thinking of taking the same approach to a benching-headache of a front 8.

Your starting 11 should be your starting 11 in my opinion.

That's usually how I play. But the Euros hangover at the start of last season is on my mind, and I really don't want to be forced into an early WC by unexpected fitness issues in January. Would probably just be for the first few weeks, and maybe include a BB.

I agree, and one could collect some funds eg. Darwin plus Kulu to get a Salah and cheap striker, but it feels meh.

It's very early thoughts of course, but going into doubles and blanks, I don't mind a deeper squad.

        I have this:

        Kepa
        Dalot Cancelo Trippier
        Salah Foden Trossard Almiron
        Martial Haaland Kane

        Ward Andreas Bueno Thomas

0.1m ITB for Martial to Mitro ahead of the double, if I like Mitro's form + fitness by then. He still doesn't look fully fit

Man Utd home to BOU in 19 - will be hard to make that switch if Martial still fit

            • 7 Years

That's the plan, actually. I have to be very convinced about Mitro to make that switch. Leicester's defence is good now, and Chelsea's *could* have improved by then. I've been blinded by doubles too many times in the past, so I'd rather have a ready alternative in the (hopefully) fit and firing Martial

              I am on this:

Shaw, Dalot, Trippier (I predict one want start GW17 due to WC; James is useful for this and doubles)

              Wilson > Mitro (GW 19)

              Ederson
              Trippier Dalot Shaw
              KdB Saka Kulusevski Rashford Almiron
              Haaland Wilson

              Ward James Moore Digne

Mæhle is locked in for me, hoping we finally get a CS + attacking return haul. Maybe Eriksen / Skov Olsen (if fit) if you see Denmark scoring a few (I'm not so sure anymore...). I have Messi currently but I'm having doubts about capping him since 1-0 suits both Argentina & Poland, so may switch to Mbappe if he starts. Mexico v Saudi Arabia has the most potential for an open, back-and-forth game with a few goals in it since both will need a win. Tempted by a differential like Vega but not quite confident enough to use up a forward spot on him

How does it suit poland? If argentina won and saudi won too this means poland are out.

True, only a specific range of results would suit Poland in this case - anything other than Saudi win / Mexico winning by 4+. But I still think they setup very defensively indeed and only go for it much later if Saudi are ahead

I guess Messi if you don’t have. Brazil a bit risky- Morata perhaps as he has played well off bench twice and Spain need win. Fullkrug v Costa Rica may be decent option as Havertz has been pants. Mitrovic perhaps most certain to start.

I'd prefer Bruno if he starts. I feel like the France game could be a bit lacklustre compared to the other groups where anyone can still qualify. I guess Tunisia can technically still go through but I'm not sure if they believe it or have a real gung-ho approach in them

So, I’m top of mini league on 43 from 4 players, however I’ve burned 2 transfers and have Mbappe, with decent subs.
Do I just leave Mbappe or do a -3 to who?
    A. Leave Mbappe n save a -3
    B. Do a -3 (suggest someone if possible please?)

Never heard of Disasi tbh. Konate for set piece threat? Or Fofana just because he's OOP (listed as defender), although someone said earlier that his attacking threat is negligible
