Suspensions

Which FPL players are nearing a ban?

In this regular article, we look at the latest Fantasy Premier League (FPL) disciplinary situation.

We also round up which FPL assets are already suspended – or returning from a ban – ahead of Gameweek 28.

A reminder: punishments for yellow card accumulation are competition-specific, whereas suspensions for dismissals cover all competitive matches.

WHEN ARE THE CUT-OFF POINTS FOR SUSPENSIONS?

The table above is taken from the Football Association website and details the cut-off points for the various yellow card thresholds.

We have passed the cut-off point for five yellow cards, so now the target to avoid is 10 cautions.

THE RACE TO (AVOID) 10 BOOKINGS

There is one player at immediate risk of a two-match suspension.

Ruben Neves (£5.4m) is sitting on nine cautions, so faces an uphill task to avoid a two-match ban as he has five more matches to get through before he is in the clear.

Four players are on eight bookings, the most notable of whom from an FPL perspective is Ivan Toney (£7.8m).

CURRENTLY SUSPENDED OR RETURNING FROM A BAN

FPL suspensions: Jesus and Gordon one booking away from a ban 1

Joao Palhinha (£4.9m) became the first Premier League player to reach 10 yellow cards, swiftly followed by Joelinton (£5.9m).

Both players were slapped with two-match bans and will return in Gameweek 29.

In terms of red cards, Wout Faes (£4.2m) will be suspended for Gameweek 28 after being dismissed for two bookable offences against Chelsea.

Casemiro (£4.9m) was sent off for the second time this season against Southampton and will now face a four-match suspension, although one of these matches will be the FA Cup quarter-final tie against Fulham.

He’ll be back in Gameweek 31.

Cheick Doucoure (£5.0m) was suspended for the first part of Crystal Palace’s Gameweek 27 double-header but returned in midweek.

Keep your eyes peeled on our Suspension Tightrope widget over the coming weeks and months, as we’ll be updating that after every Gameweek to keep you informed on the latest disciplinary developments.

Thinking f staring Zinc ahead of Trippier, do you think Zinc scores more points?

Fulham could be a tough one for Arsenal.

Trippier v Arsenal defender this week is a tough one - I think Trippier possibly just edges it due to attacking potential, but I've changes my mind at least 3 times already this week.

I'm starting Trippier over Gabriel (and Botman ahead of Gabriel on the bench)

That's one of those fifty fifty calls. Most will probably go Trippier, so am I. But i have this lingering feeling Newcastle now are in a bad period and Wolves have looked ok ish last games, at least goals scored. But i sometimes confuse my gut feeling with Liverpool sentiments, so could be wrong.

I think it has to be Martinelli (although closer than it normally would be between him and Fernandes - let's see what ETH says...)

And 34 is the only other double, right? So if all chips in tact .. better to BB on 29?

    How is this WC team

    Kepa Ward

    Mee White Trippier Chilwell Shaw

    Saka Salah Mitoma Jensen Maddison

    Toney Kane Watkins

    GW27 4 DGWers
    GW28 11 players
    GW29 12 DGWers (possible BB)

Any ideas for improvements would be welcomed

I’m not sure about Jensen tbh. I’d rather have Raya instead of Ward.

Also I’d prefer Haaland to Kane (even though he has a blank next GW) spurs looking bad

Jensen will give you less benching headaches. same for ward. Kane is a question mark for me too but you need him v Southampton gw28 I think

Jensen has 2 DGW’s, are u saying he should be benched on these? There is already benching headache in this squad the way I see.

it's a tough decision for sure.

        Squad:
        Kepa, Raya (x2)
Pinnock (x2), Trips, Schar, Zinc, Estupian (x2)
Rashford, March (x2), Mitoma (x2), Saka, Ode
        Kane, Haaland, Toney (x2)

      It's between Kane and Odegaard.

Probably Odegaard just. Although I have Martinelli and I'm very close to putting him in over Kane. That's how little I rate Spurs.
