There are up to 15 more pre-match press conferences to get through before Saturday’s Gameweek 27 deadline, following on from the five we had yesterday.

As usual, we’ll be bringing you all the key quotes that you need for your Fantasy Premier League (FPL) teams.

Erik ten Hag, Mikel Arteta and David Moyes do not feature in the Tweet screenshot below, with their Gameweek 27 previews taking the form of embargoed quotes given in the aftermath of Thursday’s European ties. Hopefully, they will be released today.

For the updates from the press conferences of Thomas Frank, Javi Gracia, Brendan Rodgers, Sean Dyche and Steve Cooper, check out our Thursday round-up.

KEY UPDATES FROM FRIDAY

PRESS CONFERENCE TIMES

BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION

Adam Lallana (muscle) and Jakub Moder (knee) remain out and Tariq Lamptey is a doubt with the injury he picked up in the win over West Ham United but the Albion team news is otherwise positive.

Levi Colwill (muscle) is back in training and could come into the squad, while Solly March is “on the [squad] list” – the midfielder has had a couple of knocks in recent weeks – and Yasin Ayari (illness) has been back in training this week.

“Solly March, Levi Colwill, they are in the [squad] list. Tariq, I don’t know, we have to see [in] the last training [session].

“Maybe [Levi could be involved tomorrow], I want to see this morning. The last week, he played with the under-21s and I was in the stadium to watch him. He is in a good moment.” – Roberto De Zerbi

There were also quotes from Roberto De Zerbi on the Seagulls’ goalkeeping situation, following on from Robert Sanchez’s much-discussed benching in Gameweek 26.

“One of the best relationships [I have] in the dressing room is with Robert Sanchez. But I have to do my work and in this moment, I prefer Jason [Steele], but only for our style of play.

“I think Robert can improve, has to improve, in this part of the football – for me, for us and for him, first of all. There aren’t problems with him. I was clear and honest with him, and with Jason, too.

“Jason is one of the players in the squad and he has to have the possibility to play. He is playing well, very well, Robert too, but in this moment, I think Jason can play better.” – Roberto De Zerbi

CHELSEA

Reece James and his owners can’t catch a break; the right-back, who missed Gameweek 26 because of hamstring tightness, is injury free but has now been ruled out of the Leicester City game with illness.

Raheem Sterling (hamstring) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (back) are also sizeable doubts and Mason Mount (abdomen) likely needs more time before he is fit, so they look set to join Thiago Silva (knee), Armando Broja (ACL), Edouard Mendy (finger) and Cesar Azpilicueta (head) on the sidelines.

N’Golo Kante (hamstring) is back in training but set to make a playing comeback in Gameweek 28.

“Reece has been ill so hasn’t trained today. He won’t make the game tomorrow. Raheem had a little feeling in his hamstring, more tightness than anything, so looking doubtful for tomorrow as well. Aubameyang has a slight problem with his back, so again he’s looking like he will miss the game. Apart from that, everyone is OK.

“No, [Kante] won’t [be in the squad]. Still needs some more time to build up, we’re aiming maybe towards Everton.

“At the moment, [Mount] is just suffering with a slight injury so he probably needs a little bit more time before he’s available properly.” – Graham Potter

ARSENAL

Mikel Arteta’s pre-match press conference was delivered in the aftermath of Arsenal’s draw with Sporting on Thursday, so we await the embargoed section of that for the latest team news.

We do know that Mohamed Elneny (knee) remains out long-term, while there’s still some doubt about whether Gabriel Jesus (knee) will be deemed match-fit after he wasn’t involved in Portugal in midweek. Four other players sitting out that Europa League match were Kieran Tierney (illness), Martin Odegaard (illness), Leandro Trossard (groin) and Eddie Nketiah (unspecified), with all bar Odegaard absent from training ground images on Wednesday. Odegaard indeed travelled to Lisbon but wasn’t deemed fit enough to play.

LIVERPOOL

Joe Gomez (muscle), Thiago Alcantara (hip), Luis Diaz (knee) and Calvin Ramsay (knee) remain on the sidelines, with Gomez potentially able to return to training next week and Diaz aiming to step up his rehab over the March international break.

Jurgen Klopp reported no new concerns in his pre-match presser.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Fabian Schar (concussion) could be back in the Newcastle squad after returning to training this week, leaving only Emil Krafth (knee) on the injury list.

Joelinton begins a two-match ban, however, after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season.

“We hope [Fabian Schär will be in the squad]. He’s trained well this week so I’m pleased to see him back.

“We have got a couple of knocks from the Manchester City game, we hope nothing too serious.” – Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe also downplayed any suggestion that Bruno Guimaraes‘ recent ankle injury is an ongoing issue.

“I think he is fine, I don’t think he has missed any training from that [injury]. I think it was sore initially against Man United but he was back training no problem. The initial one [against Fulham], that kept him out of some training. But touch wood I don’t see any long-term problem for him.” – Eddie Howe on Bruno Guimaraes

MANCHESTER CITY

Phil Foden seems to have shaken off the foot problem that he himself complained about earlier in the week, leaving Pep Guardiola with an apparently fully fit squad.

“Apparently he’s OK, yeah.” – Pep Guardiola on Phil Foden

Kyle Walker has been at the centre of some unsavoury headlines this week but Guardiola wouldn’t comment on the issue in Friday’s presser.

“Private issue, we solve internally, speaking with him. Of course, this is not the place to talk about the private situations.” – Pep Guardiola on Kyle Walker

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

Emerson Royal (knock) will have to be assessed ahead of Saturday’s clash with Nottingham Forest, while Ivan Perisic will also have to be “monitored”.

Ryan Sessegnon (hamstring), Rodrigo Bentancur (knee), Hugo Lloris (knee) and Yves Bissouma (ankle) all remain on the medium-to-long-term injury list.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Christian Eriksen (ankle) and Donny van de Beek (knee) remain on the sidelines, while the Southampton game may come too soon for Anthony Martial (hip).

“Yeah, but I think, all the time, we had a good plan and until now it [didn’t] always [work well]. But he is on his way back, he is back in training, but we will be cautious, yeah.” –

CRYSTAL PALACE

Patrick Vieira reported no fresh injury concerns in Friday’s presser, although Will Hughes (illness) will have to be assessed after missing training earlier in the week.

Sam Johnstone (calf) is the only name we know about who is still injured, while Nathan Ferguson remains short of match fitness.

Cheick Doucoure is suspended for the Manchester City game but will return for Palace’s second Double Gameweek 27 fixture in midweek.

SOUTHAMPTON

Rubén Sellés is still waiting to learn the availability of Charly Alcaraz (knee) after the midfielder injured himself while celebrating his winner against Leicester City last Saturday.

“Charly is doing better. He made training today and we still need to see if he will be in the squad or not. Tomorrow will be the final test.”

“They are young players and they need to learn those situations and it was in the emotion of the moment. He has been feeling a little bit guilty, but let’s see if he can make it or not.

“If he is not fit for the game he will for sure [be fit] for the midweek game against Brentford. As I have said, we are learning together and that’s a lesson for him.” – Ruben Selles

Saints otherwise have no fresh injury concerns with Tino Livramento (knee) and Juan Larios (muscle) the only absentees.

FULHAM

Marco Silva reported nothing new on the team news front, presumably meaning that Layvin Kurzawa (knee), Tom Cairney (shin) and Neeskens Kebano (Achilles) will remain on the sidelines.

Joao Palhinha serves the second game of a two-match ban, while loanee Cedric Soares can’t face his parent club.

ASTON VILLA

Diego Carlos (Achilles) could be back in the matchday squad this weekend after his lengthy lay-off but Philippe Coutinho (hamstring) and Boubacar Kamara (ankle) are out and Leander Dendoncker is still a doubt after sustaining a hand injury in a domestic incident.

WEST HAM UNITED

Lukasz Fabianski (eye) and Vladimir Coufal (heel) look set to remain out, while Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio will be assessed after complaining of calf tightness in the Europa League match against AEK Larnaca on Thursday.

WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS

Julen Lopetegui said that Diego Costa will be sidelined for 2-4 weeks with a knee injury he picked up last weekend.

Boubacar Traore (groin) and Hwang Hee-chan (hamstring) are closing in on a return and could make the squad tomorrow.

BOURNEMOUTH

Hamed Traore (muscle) and Marcus Tavernier (hamstring) remain unavailable, while Jefferson Lerma (muscle) is “touch and go” for the visit of Liverpool.

There was no word on Matias Vina (knee), Junior Stanislas (knock), David Brooks (hamstring), Lloyd Kelly (calf) or Illia Zabarnyi (ankle) but Gary O’Neil perhaps hinted that they wouldn’t feature when saying that the situation was “fairly similar to where we were last week”.

    https://www.brightonandhovealbion.com/my-albion-tv/videos/3102091/roberto-de-zerbis-leeds-united-press-conference

I just heard RDZ's comments about goalkeepers from 13:07 on. Now I'm seriously leaning towards the "boring" Sanchez ➡ Steele, which could pay off in the short or maybe even long term. Who knows. If he does all the right things in beetwen GW27 and GW29, he won't be suddenly dropped just because Sanchez improved a little bit.

(FH next week, WC still in the bank)

    Raya, Kepa
    TAA, Estupinan, Mee, Shaw, Trippier
    Saka, March, Mitoma, Rashford, Odegaard
    Haaland, Toney (c), Darwin

Would you be confident to BB with Schar in? Should probably wait until GW29 but kind of want to get it out the way in case more problems crop up over the next few weeks.

    Steele,
    Trippier, Mee, Henry
    Saka, MacAllister, Mitoma, Rashford
    Haaland, Kane, Toney (c)

    Kepa, Gabriel, Martinelli, Schar

Plan is to BB29 and bring in Haaland for GW30. Maybe Ward -> Kepa, but that leaves money on the bench..

    Raya (Ward)
    Trippier/Estu/Pinnock (Chilwell, Cash)
    Saka/Rashford/Mitoma/McAllister (Martinelli)

You practically get 3 new teams for 3 gws in a row. It could make a great difference.

I think the only other gw when FH could be useful is gw 32. But I guess with 2 gws we could get rid of Brighton players after their dgw in 31 and bench Rashford, Haaland and Shaw/whichever player that blanks in gw 32.

    2. GE

My plan is to WC27, play 10 players in G28, BB29 and FH32 or later.

I see, your defence is quite differential, interesting, but it would be a shame to play with 10 players right after the wc. It should give you advantage over other players.

My plan was to play wc now, have 11 for gw 28, bb 29 and save fh for 32, but now I am considering this other option.

If that’s for me yes I’m on WC and just throwing something together now then it’s FF then BB.. I’ll worry about the other weeks later I think. These 3 weeks are a nice time to get a boost imo

Absolutely. I am on 38k right now and if I get it all right in this 3 gws in a row without hits it could rocket me into top 10k I believe. And then it's harder to go down in rank. Saving chips for later can't make great difference and make your rank better imo.

Could be ok- depends on team you WC to, how many you would be missing in 28, how many doublers in 29 and how you are set up for dealing with blank 32

I am on wc with 11 players in gw 28 and 13 players with dgw 29, but fh 28 gives me some advantage to take some differential players like Bowen, Shaw etc.

I would do WC27, with 28 in mind (aim to have at least 9 playing) then BB in 29. Save the FH for horrible 32!

      • 4 Years

Sound. My plan was to save FH for DGW37 (and so I've kept a playable 9 for GW28), but now that we know those later doubles are going to be 3 fixtures maximum, I think FH28 makes a lot of sense.

In your cause for sure. 9 is too few. And what difference and growth in rank could fh in 37 bring you? I think it's too late.

          • 4 Years

If it were a bigger DGW (37), then plenty, I thought, as most would have spent FH already & its hard to know in advance which teams have something to play for.

Now I might play it in 32 actually.

£3.1m in the bank and any moves would be for a -4, anything you'd shift to maybe get another doubler in?

    Kepa
    Trent - Estupinan - Trippier
    Rashford - Saka - Martinelli - Mitoma
    Toney - Haaland - Kane

    Ward - Andreas - Akanji - White

          Brighton have GW30 tot(a), GW31 che(a), GW32 blank.

Not sure they can yet be described as ‘fixture proof’, so there may be many players wishing they still had a WC by then!

    Salah > Mac Allister/March (-4)

    (Odegaard needed for GW28)

    Ballsy or barmy?

Salah is on fire, defenders and GKs are gifting him goals atm.

    Is MARTINELLI -> MACALLISTER worth a -4?

A one week only move for the double...

not for a hit, esp with brighton blank and martinelli playing 28

Hmm.. thanks. Dunno how to get Toney without doing a move like this. Or ditch Haaland / Kane for him.

Would you keep James on WC or drop him? Wasn't going to play him this week anyway and could be back next week since it's an illness.

I wouldn’t. He’s never fit, I’ve had him since the World Cup and only played him gw25 for 1 pt. Never had the reason to sell him for a hit but considering it ahead of gw29 cause I can’t trust him to play both games

    Thoughts on BB here?

    Currently on:

    Ederson (Meisler)
    Shaw Mee Estupinian (Trippier Botman)
    Martinelli Mitoma Saka Rashford (Mahrez)
    Toney Kane Haaland

I could move Meisler to Raya or Mahrez to Mac (better for this week) / Maddison (better for cover next GW). Bit of a horror show having to navigate GW28 with no FH.

Mahrez -> Mac and go for it.

Most will say no I guess but Newcastle have a solid chance of a CS at wolves and Arsenal have a great fixture (who realistic I think would make up your third outfield player).

Could wait for GW29 but in my experience it's very hard to go into a GW with all 15 pretty certain to play so might as well use the BB when you have a decent bench. Can see yours scoring 20 points with a bit of luck.

I'll probably BB with Kepa, Gabriel, Martinelli, Schar too

Might navigate the blanks just taking a couple of hits, how does this look:

    Buemo + Odegarde + Watkins => Henry + Mitoma + Toney (-4)

    No brainer right?

-4 to bring in a Brentford defender for Shaw worth it?
Cautious of being swept up in the double game week madness.

Is this worth a BB or do I risk benching some of the Arsenal guys?

    Kepa
    Trent - Estupinan - Trippier
    Rashford - Saka - MacAllister - Mitoma
    Toney - Haaland - Kane

    Ward - Martinelli - Akanji - White

    Who scores more points?
    A. Kepa (lei a)
    B. Steele -4 (lee a, PAL h)

Ward to Steele would be the transfer

    Thanks

I might just get Reece James in.
This week he is out ill but that just preserves him from injury ahead of his juicy double gameweek.
    That's logical, right?

      No. Chilwell a lot better

Cucarella can easily come in for Chilwell at any time.

I think this LCB role, with Chilwell WB, is perfect for him though. Cucu isn't as good a WB & this new setup is close to what worked best at BHA.

Chilwell the better option and is passing the eye test imo. Definitely 1st choice over Cucurella. James can barely string 2 consecutive appearances together and seems a fair way off full fitness.

    A) Ben Mee
    B) Estupinan

Easy B for me. All 4 of BRE's games are away from home bar 1. The former brings more attacking promise

Anything wrong with this final (ish) WC draft. 0.7 to spend. Was conscious of overloading on Brighton/Brentford players and getting stuck with them.
    Raya
    Trippier Henry Shaw
    Salah Saka Ode Mitoma Rashford
    Toney Haaland
    Ward-Watkins-Chilwell-Mings
    Any thoughts appreciated 🙂

Cheers Mentaculus. I Initially avoided due to the no GW 28 but he does seem the popular pick so it may be the route to go. Thanks again

I don't usually like to play the role of template enforcer, but I've been a fan of Estupinan for a while now, had him in my team before the World Cup even when he wasn't really nailed
