Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is live for the 2023/24 season and managers can now set their squads up for the new campaign.

The launch comes after three days of price reveals in which 116 Premier League players were priced up across all 20 top-flight clubs.

We’ll begin our round-up of the newly released prices in an article later.

If you’re new to FPL, head over to our beginner’s guides.

FPL 2023/24: ANY RULE CHANGES?

Everything of note in FPL seems to have remained the same.

The chips are as they were (two Wildcards, one Free Hit, one Bench Boost and one Triple Captain).

The first Wildcard will be available from the start of the season until the Gameweek 20 deadline on Saturday 30 December.

There are, of course, none of the bonus unlimited transfers that we were granted in 2022/23 following the World Cup.

The scoring system appears to be identical, with the Gameweek deadlines remaining at 90 minutes prior to the first kick-off.

We’ve yet to see what the promised ‘new format’ is.

FPL really underrate Arsenal, I know it was one season but 5 points off the title and now adding Rice to the midfield. Feels like most players in midfield and defence are priced 0.5 too cheap

They have underrated every team and made the game more simple and fun for the "average recreational" player which is annoying

But what they have done is make so many players good value, it increases the pool so means more variety.
The problem in previous seasons is that most gravitate towards the same players. As there is a large discrepancy between price options.

“5 points off the title” is a bit misleading when City had stopped playing about 5 games from the end.

Question is where he's playing. Brentford already bought a replacement (technically two with Strakosha last year seemingly signed as backup), Spurs wouldn't pay 40m, ManUtd sensibly preferring Onana at that price

A common feature is that most non-CL teams have a 5.0 defender and the rest 4.5s, or all 4.5s

Chelsea, Newcastle and Spurs have definite starters at 4.5, and the promoted teams have definite starters at 4.0 (well Burnley and Luton do)

  9. Nate(U)dog(ie)

    3 years, 13 days ago

Enciso at 5.5 means he's definitely still on my radar. Have to see if he's deployed at 10 in preseason or if he's shifted around. Still feel like he was being readied for MacAllister's position but all the injuries around the team meant so many players had to be deployed in other spots

Agreed. If he came in at 6.0 I think I would've been put off by the minutes risk given that March and Mitoma are 6.5 but at 5.5 I think he's worth the gamble. Can do damage off the bench if he doesn't start every game.

That Chelsea vs Liverpool GW1 matchup is an absolute headache, their fixtures afterwards are so nice but that one could be messy for people owning multiple players on both teams

Ridiculously too easy to pick a squad. First attempt was more than happy and did not evdn have to include a 4.M defender or keeper.

Back in the old days would have to chisel away for days to try and shoehorn in a side that looked decent. Now, even with Harland it is a doddle. Bored already. Lets hope fanteam do a better job

Preseason will no doubt change a lot but at the moment I think my main decision will be for my last two midfield spots. The template combo of Mbeumo + Mitoma or the riskier more exciting duo of Foden (or Maddison) + Enciso.

    1. Alan The Llama
      • 16 Years
      3 years, 13 days ago

I've got Mbuemo, Foden and Enciso but it's obviously very early days.

    2. Silecro
      • 8 Years
      3 years, 13 days ago

I would advise to stay on Mbeumo. 6.5, Caretaker of pens (until January, that is), OOP, plays better without Toney, good fixtures...whats not to like there?

      1. I Member
        • 10 Years
        3 years, 13 days ago

Don't think he's OOP. Will play right wing with Wissa or a new signing through the middle. He's a great option no doubt but if it looks like Foden is going to start (we might even get the lineup before the deadline) he has higher upside than Mbeumo.

Taking Trent out makes the team look a lot nicer across the board...

    Alisson

    Son, Mbuemo, Bruno, Saka, Martinelli

    Haaland, Gakpo

You can get a brilliant looking team with him and a few cheaper guys.

Say Botman and Simms on the bench with Lamptey and Hennessey for now as placeholders.

Strong midfield except no Salah. Who was admittedly an average of 6.3 points per game, the 3rd most potent after Haaland and Kane last season.

It's easy when you see all 15 in place but obviously the same budget parameters for everyone.

I haven't read much on this page yet (will catch up shortly) but spied some GK conversations.

WHU fan here, I'll be livid if Fabianski gets another season between the sticks as our #1. Surely it has to be Areola going forward now? At 4.0 I think I'll run the risk.

    Any other takers? Thoughts/opinions?

That combo for 8.5 looks ridiculously cheap+ fool-proof anyway even if we don't have a definite answer on who is first choice.

The problem is that European games kick in around mid September & it’s a fairly easy way of keeping Areola happy by playing him each Thursday night.

I personally think it’s time Areolas given a run in the league over Fabs buy Moyes is adverse to change.

Maddison, but part of that will definitely depend on whether Kane is still there or not, and if not then how he is replaced. He'll be more assured of minutes too
