This is a lot to analyse. Gusto is good for max 3 maybe 4 games, but if it’s short term move then it’s good.

I think Flekken, Botman, gusto, Mbeumo, and Darwin >:-)

      On WC I assume.

I would not be picking that many risks on a WC.

Risks being: Cash, Doku, Turner (arguably Areola too), Gusto and Burn.

You need to downgrade somewhere and spread the funds. I don't think Burn or Gusto are real options if you're WCing.

Spurs and West Ham with difficult away fixtures and Arsenal inability to CS at home makes for difficult bench decisions this week:

    Vicario
    Estupiñán Botman Gusto
    Salah Saka Maddison Mbeumo
    Haaland Alvarez Wissa

    Areola Saliba Ward-Prowse Cash

I wouldn't say we (WHU) have a tricky away fixture, Liverpool have only kept a clean sheet against West Ham twice in their last seven PL meetings. Oct '22 and Mar '22 (to be fair)

Looking at your team I'd start Areola bench Vicario, JWP 1st, Cash 2nd, Saliba 3rd.

I think it is. Money should be put in your starting xi. I think 1 player benched every week. 1 player for back up just in case there’s an injury. And 1 player to rotate between starting xi

Well this is all subjective and there’s many ways to go about changing the team and everyone has their preferences. I personally like rashford and his potential in the upcoming fixtures. That would take rearranging the team due to rashys price.

I’m also a United fan so maybe a bit of bias

Don’t lose Maddison. He’s season keeper imo.

Did very well for Leicester when healthy. Every week his xA was very high, and passed eye test, but players like Iheanacho wasted golden chances. Imagine what he could do at an very attacking spurs side. Might be overly optimistic though…

Gusto was minimal value when I got him, as was Areola. They just happen to be good options too. Eventually Gusto will get benched due to James but I will keep for when the next injury occurs/ recurs. TV is 12.7m so I don't need to scrimp on the last couple of spots in my team.

Just this week. Areola, Botman, Cash and Gusto are hardly 'expensive' so my only recurring headache is which of my eight attackers to bench each week in a 352/343 formation. Fixtures will normally make the decision for me, and Saliba will normally start.

      Me likey

I'd switch the bench order here and rank 'em via attacking threat: JWP Cash Saliba

JWP had two assists tonight. He's a machine and Liverpool's defence remains leaky, but I get why he's benched here. I'd at least have him at first sub

I don't think being at home has some sort of negative effect on Arsenal's clean sheets. Purely coincidental IMO.

Bench order: JWP, Cash, Saliba. Cash v Gusto is interesting... Cash could easily score more. Difficult.

Salah looked pretty fired up in his cameo vs LASK. I most likely won't cap him over Haaland vs Forest, but when considering how many shots Areola faced vs City and how many big chances Haaland missed, this is hat-trick territory for Salah

I'm tempted, but Haaland getting 6 big chances in his last game is just nuts after a hat trick in the preceding game. Happy to own both while Salah goes into this GW still under 30%

Oh yeah. I'm on Haaland (C) with Salah (VC). Just pointing out that this could get ugly at Anfield. Salah's next three opponents are perfect for him too, even if we might not win all three

The point is really about Salah looking up for it tonight, more likely to shoot than assist. I have the feeling that those waiting for GW9 are overlooking how good his next three opponents are for an attacker

I was looking at salahs record Vs PL clubs the other day. He’s scored the most goals against top attacking sides. Most goals Vs teams in this order:

          1 manutd
          2 city
          3 spurs
          4 arsenal

Could come good vs top teams. If not goals then perhaps assists

So, Wissa + Henry to Alvarez + Botman done with 2 FTs. 0.2m left ITB. Early moves, as always. Ranked 456k. WC (GW4) and 4 FTs used with surprisingly no hits yet

Chilwell's going if he's benched again in GW6, unless something happens to Colwill. If Chilwell starts, that's double Chelsea defence for GW7 and then maybe Disasi to Moreno/Digne for GW8

    Leno
    Chilwell Cash Botman
    Sterling (V)Salah Mbeumo Saka Maddison
    (C)Haaland Alvarez
    .
    Areola Disasi Udogie Semenyo

Semenyo to Archer will happen with a spare FT at some point. Low-priority transfer

Yeah, not worried about that with KDB, Bernardo and Grealish out while Kovacic might be back

Doku and Foden are the only available wingers (normally flanking Alvarez at no. 10), so the only way to bench Alvarez would be to play a flat midfield three, which Pep hasn't done in ages

It's always possible but that Bilva injury cleared my doubt. Also, if Alvarez was going to be rested, it would have been when "tired" after the international trip. It's part of why I didn't get him for GW5. Pep still had to play the lad

Not too difficult not to take a hit if you've already used a WC in GW4 after effectively having one in GW0.

Semenyo is your 15th player. Not worth wasting your energy on.

Chilwell to Trippier and Sterling to Diaby/Eze would be interesting soon.

I'd just keep Wissa here. He's not far off Edouard performance-wise and way more nailed than Pedro

Starting Romero vs Arsenal and Liverpool risks a red card or other routes to negative points, so I'd suggest moving Beyer on with the funds from selling Chilwell. Say, Chilwell + Beyer to Botman + Schar for free

      Very differential heavy transfer options.

Just do it and don't tell anyone. Rodri is nailed and his role has evolved towards more late attacking involvement when the opposition defence are tied up with Haaland, Alvarez et al especially since Gundo left. He's also a target at set pieces. You can see this in the CL too. But everyone still thinks of him as only a DM. His shots from just outside the box have an Ødegaard like quality in terms of accuracy and power, if not quite in frequency.

He is taking lots more shots. He said weeks ago that he is aiming to better his goal record for City so Pep probably given him instructions to shoot more often.

Whether I would get him in is another story but as a budget mid in his price bracket he is not the worst option.

Rodri scored in City's last two Champions League matches, in addition to which he is 10th for Shots On Target per 90 in EPL, despite being 28th for Shots per 90.

Ødegaard is 12th for Shots On Target per 90 in EPL and 23rd for Shots per 90.and is currently behind in FPL points.

As I said, Rodri's role has evolved but some people can't see past the DM label and will try to embarrass you out of making that choice. It's the same every season, someone emerges like March last season but the hive mind says no you must get Mitoma. This season I see lots of Foden owners but no-one admitting they have Rodri.

I do & have had him since the start. OK, couple of 1 pointers but is a great enabler at his price, anything he gets I see as a bonus and a big plus is his apparent immunity to Pep rotation. Personally I think managers have become too blinkered by the plethora of attacking mf options this season. I recall the derision when I suggested Alvarez was a great option during pre-season. (Some of who I find gushing over the fella now which I find highly amusing).

Sterling to Eze or Chilwell/Saliba to Trippier are interesting.

No need for Rodri given the attacking options we have. Not that he's a bad pick at all. Some nice shooting.

Could you not do Chilwell to Botman then someone to Salah next week for free?

So when will all of us want to get in Doku, by GW7 if he does start and haul this week? 🙂

No Foden and Grealish ahead of him. He’ll always be rotation risk.

He hardly plays down the right. With Grealish not fit, Silva out, he may well play down the left.

Doku will play RW unless Pep has other ideas like going with Alvarez and Foden playing behind Haaland.

So early to assume this with Doku. His returns in poor leagues weren't even that good so you would be basing this off his one goal for City so far.

He also got benched for UCL and played left wing first game.

Alvarez, Foden and Silva can play RW. Grealish, Foden and Silva can play LW.

Go for it if you like his name and two PL starts so far. He's not much of a risk at 6.5m in terms of price but he is a risk in terms of taking up a spot in your 11 vs proven assets like Eze, Diaby, Mbuemo, Mitoma etc.

I don't know what was typed here but assuming you mean who should you start from:

      Maddison or Sterling
      +
      Chilwell or Udogie

Benching one of those mids means you have structural issues in your squad so I'd assess that over the coming weeks.

I wouldn't bench Maddison, but surely someone else is more benchable than Sterling in your front 8 attackers.

Udogie for safety, Chilwell for upside. I would be tempted by Chilwell.

I know and many thanks, appreciate your input.

I had Edouard & Botman on my bench last week and only scored 40 points.

Edouard on my bench has outscored Maddison by 14 points in the last 2 games ... that 14 points would have me at 200k rather than my current 800k, and my Botman benching last week when I had Estupiñán, Henry, Chilwell and Beyer before him would have pushed me into the top 100k.

Need to get these call right but it's all so random.

Thoughts on Rashford? I don't have him but I like his next games.

    - Burnley with the high line
    - Palace with Ward RB
    - Brentford with Roerslev RB
    - Sheffield United
    - Manchester City (hard game, ok)

I can sell Son for him and then in gw8 I can bring back Son (or Maddison if he is the better pick).

Henry to Botman isn’t worth a -4 is it?

Depends on if you have used your WC or not i guess. At the start of the season i think it could be worth it, this way you can use transfers on players with upside potential.

If your 3rd defender has a terrible fixture and you don't play to wildcard soon then it's fine. But don't expect that to pay off for a while.

Neither Maddison nor Son make the top 25 cut. Maddison is also relatively expensive.

Guess Sterling is a hold and I can fix Henry for someone in defence.

On WC which do you prefer:

    A) Trippier & Foden
    B) Shar & saka

    (Already have Botman)

B by quite a long way. Saying that double Newcastle defence might be a short term strategy.

      Saka is brilliant.

Loads of FPL assets scored in European games, hopefully some of that swings into the weekend.

      Trippier and Eze/Diaby/Mbuemo.

Saka can wait till those fixtures come back round again. He's a prime pick though for sure.

Schar is a nice pick though. I just don't like the Foden inclusion myself.

Dammit missed the Botman rise. Didn’t look like he was going to rise when I looked yesterday.

I was thinking same. Looked way off rising when I checked.

Yes. The official system could be improved (not the much appreciated unofficial price change sites). Just an alert saying they are potentially rising or something on the official app/site would be cool.

    Chilwell & Isak -> 5.4m & Jesus [2FT]

    AWhat are we thinking, friends?
Was hyped to be early on the Isak Express, but turns out I was too early.

    Current defence is:
    Chilwell, Trippier, Udogie, Gvardiol, Baldock

Who comes in? Double up with Walker / Botman? Gamble on Konate? Go back to Saliba?

    Oof.
