WC now or wait a week?

2FT as I forgot to do my transfer this week unfortunately

I'd wait another GW and use FT only if needed after this GW

Yeah, wait, it would also be a shame to not use those 2FT to have some one week punts before hitting the WC next GW

Finally, got a train to have Trent !

13 pointer vs Burnley next week. InsyaAllah.

I went Tsimikas to Trent and started Trent vs Arsenal

Looks like a rolled FT for me in GW19 here, then Salah + Solanke to Haaland + Richarlison for free in GW20. Current GW19 squad:

    Dubravka
    Porro Trent Lascelles
    (V)Son (C)Salah Bowen Saka Gordon
    Watkins Solanke
    .
    Areola Gabriel Archer Coufal

Lascelles will be parked on my bench until he probably becomes Trippier in GW22, with my GW21 FT spent on Son all the way down to a Fulham mid, allowing a slow wildcard to end up with this when Salah returns:

    Dubravka
    Trent Porro Trippier
    Salah Richarlison Bowen Fulham Gordon
    Haaland Watkins
    .
    Areola Konsa Archer Coufal

That's just a theory though. An FPL theory. Bring on the flags! 😀

Arsenal assets back in with a more expensive GK on the second WC, if I go ahead with this. Depends on the BGW/DGW landscape by then, of course

Have done similar this week and planning very similar next week (although going Odegard over Richarlison). Then planning either go Son to Richarlison or Gross the week after. Fulham Sam interesting shout, never considered them!

Fully expecting some injury emergency to rear its ugly head though as you say!

        I like Ødegaard too

Only reason I'm going down to a Fulham mid is to afford that team structure on Salah's return, where I'll probably play 4-4-2 often and then WC around GW27 or 28 for doubles et al

But for pure points, I really rate Ødegaard since his return to form. Groß has been on a roll too, and I think I'll get Adingra for a short while before the WC (when he's back from AFCON) as my Fulham mid replacement... But that's very very tentative and far away

        Good luck! 🙂

Ah yeah that's a good shout. Getting Salah back seems too far away to contemplate!! Ideally would want to get Son back as well but I'll have lost the value tied up in them unfortunately

But you were planning to WC Salah back in? So why go cheap on the Fulham?

Oh no, I'm getting Salah for Saka with a FT once he's back from AFCON... I expect that to be GW24 or 25

My WC should hopefully be delayed for later, when BGWs and DGWs show up, or the fixture swings in GW28. I don't want to use it to get one player (Salah) back... While I genuinely think Richarlison might be as good an asset as Son if he keeps being Ange's striker, especially with Maddison back to supply

I'm going to play my Villa defender very often over my 5.3/5.0 mid slot, so I don't mind the 4-4-2 while waiting for Salah

I hear ya. Good thinking on Richarlison. I might look into something similar and maybe do Salah Son to Gross Rich, and that would allow me to go Saka to Salah afterwards.

Never considered losing Saka but Gross' fixtures look amazing and Rich could be very good as you say

                Cheers

I just noticed my wording that made it sound like a wildcard for Salah in the original post

The "slow wildcard" there refers to making wholesale changes with one FT at a time... So I meant gradually getting back to Salah without needing major team surgery or a WC, like what people are doing with Haaland now

Updating the target team with Groß + Burn/Botman over Trippier + Fulham, allowing some other upgrades with the extra funds:

      Dubravka
      Trent Moreno Porro
      Salah Groß Gordon Bowen Richarlison
      Haaland Watkins
      .
      Onana Burn Gabriel Archer

I use these long posts as anchors to see how my plans changed or revert to previous plans, so pardon the update 😀

Thanks a lot to the many Groß options on this comment page. I was hyperfocused on Trippier so I didn't see this myself

De Zerbi can't stop him getting injured. Too many attacking Brighton players to share the spoils with. Would be gold in a lesser team as the dominant attacker, like Grealish was with Villa.

    GW19 BB?

    Kelleher > Bentley (ft)?

    Dubravka (NFO), Bentley (bre)
Trippier (NFO), Tsimikas (bur), Gusto (CRY), Porro (bha), Gabriel (WHU)
Salah (bur), Saka (WHU), Bowen (ars), Gordon (NFO), Palmer (CRY)
Haaland (eve), Watkins (mun), Semenyo (FUL)

    1. Ze_Austin
      • 7 Years
      2 years, 2 months ago

Bentley won't start over Sa, who's fit

Semenyo might not make 60 minutes, and Fulham/Leno is in strong form while he isn't

I expect West Ham and Palace to score, with Gusto not particularly nailed to start/haul and Gabriel not flying with attacking returns this season

And then if Tsimikas gets a full rest, the bench is down to 3 players

I'd stay far away from the BB button here, and maybe roll FT

      1. Zenith UK
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 2 months ago

It was definitely roll FT or punt the BB, all viable arguments

        1. Ze_Austin

          Okeydokey. I get that

Expecting some nice DGWs later on, and there are many good cheap assets this season... So it seems we'll have some big DGWs scores with the BB, without having to change much with a wildcard before or after. It's why I'd be reluctant to play it in any random SGW for now

And yeah, I'd roll FT here or get whichever of Areola or Fabianski starts in GW18 (rotate with or backup to Dubravka)

          Good luck 🙂

Can't afford Areola now because of Kelleher drop. His second drop (because I was patient and waited for Liverpool v West Ham in the cup) cost me Lascelles & Kelleher > Trippier & Dubravka. Fuming.

      As might Gordon.
Palmer might get a fifth yellow.

I'm excited enough to be in the giddy heights of the top 100K to even consider taking a hit. Still, needs must I suppose.

Embargoed Emery quotes that came out after the deadline

        Lemglet starts in Pau's absence

I don't think he specifically said Cash isn't starting, but that was Cash's main route back into the XI anyway, unless he somehow comes in for Tielemans or Kamara

Some more context (and a link to an earlier prediction) from Tony Awesome here

Emery wants to keep Lenglet in January and he's the only LCB left, so it makes sense

I agree but the noise yesterday is Cash would play and Konsa move across.

Yeah, I thought so too pre-deadline

Yet it seems Emery has settled back on this system of three CBs and one advanced full back, so square pegs have to fit in the square holes

If you've held this long, then maybe just one more start vs Burnley

Unless Haaland is passed fully fit before the deadline

Morning gents. Looking to sell Gvardiol next week. Currently looking at Burn or Konsa as a replacement. I already own Martinez + Trippier, would you prefer to double up on Newcastle or Villa? Or look elsewhere for a replacement.

Prefer Konsa due to the upcoming games

Burn can wait for GW23+, if other options aren't obviously better by then

      Good morning 🙂

You don't need boring defenders like Konsa with all the money you must have from pernament no-Haaland/Salah. I would go early on Alex Moreno - he'll probably share mins with Digne for a bit but if you have something like Trent/Trippier/Porro you could rotate him in/out. Expect he'll start at Man Utd if Digne starts tonight

      1. Ze_Austin

It's not really easy or fun to predict when a rotating asset starts

Maybe Konsa now for the CS points, and then switch if/when a clearly preferred LB emerges

        1. Ze_Austin

Or go completely left field with Udogie + Porro

      2. Count of Monte Hristo

I have Trent, Trippier, Saliba and Porro 😆
And Moreno was exactly who I was bringing in next but after Mbeumo > Bowen I only have 4.8 if I sell Gvardiol.

Unless I do Alvarez or Darwin > Solanke first then Gvardiol > Solanke?

Doesn't feel like the best time to get Solanke as he faces three competent defences in a row

So yeah, Konsa for me here

I really want Emery to settle on an LB and I'll be there in an instant

Since Bournemouth started to turn things around, 2 of Solanke's lowest xG games have come against SHU/BUR, 2 highest against NEW/AVL. I think Bournemouth's strength is their press, winning high turnovers against sides that leave space in behind to attack, not their creativity against a low block. So I have no issue with starting him against the likes of Spurs & Liverpool

Ah the unlimited funds actually ran out...

Yeah I like that 2nd option. Think Moreno will claim that spot in time so no rush. Konsa is fine but doesn't really have any attacking threat / much bonus potential & you don't really need reliability with those other 4 defenders around.

First time this season I haven’t had the funds to make the move I wanted 😉 I agree with you, a more exciting pick is what I prefer, for now I think removing Gvardiol will make me happy and Konsa is a viable option if not a fancy one. Thanks for your input mate.

Would you start Lascelles or Colwill over one of the other defenders?

    Dubravka
    Porro Tsimikas Gabriel
    Salah Son Palmer Saka Gordon
    Solanke Watkins

    Areola Archer Lascelles Colwill

    1. Ze_Austin

Lascelles over Gabriel for me here

Lascelles covers Schär so he's expected to start IF(!) Schär is still out, which Howe won't let us know beforehand anyway

Agree with Colwill third sub, of these options

    Time for a midterm assessment:

    Raya, Areola

    Saliba, Branthwaite, Tsimikas, Lascelles, Pinnock

    Saka, Son, Salah, Gordon, Palmer

    Semanyo, Haarland, Watkins.

Any changes needed? The d is a little weak I know esp if the likes of Lascelles, Tsimikas lose their places.

When I checked earlier, only 872 good folk had transferred in Gross.

Too early to be thinking of KDB?
Assuming no indication given on a return timeframe?

This injury came minutes into Pep rushing KDB back

So I assume he's going to be very careful with the lad this time

Even after Kevin's first start, I expect him to rotate with Alvarez for a bit... In an unpredictable way like after last season's World Cup performance by Alvarez

Hoping it might be Elliott. Obviously will be hard to know if he's nailed but I kind of have him in mind as an FPL option, maybe. Would be easier to go for if we see an earlier shift (now even) to Salah up top with Darwin/Gakpo underperforming. Jota was poor on the right during last AFCON.
