This is such poor logic that I see everywhere. It's much better to have a benching headache than fodder if you can afford it. Having the good player on your bench is infinitely better than having him out of your squad.

This is true and that’s why I don’t mind having Gabriel and Archer on my bench with their hauls. Archer is great as he’s got genuine goal interest at minimum cost although he might have to go to get the Haaland Watkins Solanke line up that seems pretty essential (to me at least) right now

              • 5 Years
              2 years, 2 months ago

If Haaland is starting GW20 then you'll be wanting to replace two of the eight attackers to afford him - hence I'd rather have 2FT next week than use 1FT this week just so I have more depth on the bench for perhaps one week only and then have to take a hit. Seems logical this week to me to roll the FT

Definite upgrade but you might want to think what will fund getting Son and Salah back. I personally don’t want to overspend on players that will make that difficult, and I don’t see TAA as essential for that price

I get the logic, but I think I'll just sell Saka for Salah after AFCON

Skipping a return to Son because Richarlison is the striker now, and I think that brings them pretty close enough in points potential to hold the cheaper lad instead

GW24/25 target team, via Saka to Salah:

        Dubravka
        Porro Trent Botman
        Rich Salah Bowen Gordon
        Solanke Haaland Watkins

    .
"Yeah he's okay. He’s kind of had a sore back yesterday in training. He wasn’t 100 per cent, but he was keen to start today. He got through the game. Pleasing for him that he took his goal well and worked hard for us, but I kind of knew that at some point we’d have to take him off, but I don’t think it’s anything serious."

Yes, because "Yeah he's okay" 😀

It was a small issue in training the previous day, he still started and played 60 minutes, then got subbed off for a rest when it flared up a bit... But Ange, Rich and the medical team considered it minor enough to *start* Richarlison the day after the back soreness started

That's as "minor knock" as it gets

If this was announced before yesterday's match, he'd have had a yellow flag, started and played 62 minutes with a goal on your bench

            He's fine

Looks like just that, but even as it is just minor, it made him go off in the 62t minute. And going into two games within a week is not ideal minutes wise.
Still a good buy, but if you'd considered buying him and let's say it was for Bowen, I would probably leave it. Not that I sell Bowen, just for the example of use.

Could do Lamptey to TAA but reckon no need to keep Livra on the bench, and yeah somehow forgot about him while Taylor been rescuing me. Merry Christmas!

I don't expect either to start regularly any time soon, and I'd usually lose the injured guy first... But Livra's more expensive and blocks a GW23 Newcastle spot, so he can go while Lamptey stays parked at third sub

          Good luck 🙂

Morning all. 1.9 in the bank here, thinking may as well give Darwin his last game vs Burnley. Best move here?

    Dubravka
    TAA Saliba Pedro
    Salah Son Saka Bowen
    Watkins Darwin Solanke

    Areola Baldock Lascelles Chuk

    A) Chuk -> Palmer (and bench Bowen?)
    B) Lascelles -> Gusto / Colwill
    C) Save
    D) Other suggestions?

    Help please!

I'm belatedly going to buy TAA but should I sell Trippier or Udogie?

Tripper has poor form but is class and should come good sometime. But if I sell I can afford a better midfielder when I sell Salah and Darwin to get in Haaland.

Udogie also has attacking quality but maybe double Spurs is too much. Buy I'd get a weaker midfielder when I get Haaland

    Areola Dubravka
    Tripper Porro Udogie Senesi Mitchell
    Salah Saka Bowen Richarlison Gordon
    Watkins Solanke Darwin
    £3.5m itb

    Thanks:)

The season of injuries keeps on giving!

    What’s best to do here?
    A) Tsimikas to TAA (free)
    B) Save FT, play Kabore (off at HT yesterday - any news?)

A is spreading funds but if Haaland is fit for Sheff Utd I can bring him in for -4 by selling Darwin and Salah for him and Foden

    1FT 5.0ITB
    Dubravka
    Porro Colwill Kabore
    Salah Son Saka Gordon Palmer
    Watkins Solanke

    Areola Darwin Tsimikas** Cash**

Morning all. Which two players would you bench in GW19? Struggling to choose.

    Saliba (h) to West Ham
    Trippier (h) Forest
    Porro @ Brighton
    Trent @ Burnley

    Ødegaard (h) to West Ham
    Palmer (h) to Palace
    Gordon (h) to Forest
    Son @ Brighton
    Bowen @ Arsenal

    Darwin @ Burnley
    Álvarez @ Everton
    Watkins @ United

You're banking on a CS for Arsenal if you back Saliba over the other options. The others all have attacking potential. Saliba is poor value vs Raya and Gabriel in his own team for these reasons.

Darwin and Saliba or Trippier reluctantly, probably Trippier tbh given his woes and Newcastle's issues at the back. I think they'll pick up soon but they're still in an exhausting run and Forest managed to score twice yesterday with 10 men

      1. Count of Monte Hristo
        • 12 Years
        2 years, 2 months ago

Thanks all, Darwin and Saliba makes the most sense so I will go for that. Tempted to play Darwin @ Burnley but probably not much point given how poor he has been.

    5. Ze_Austin

Saliba and Alvarez for me, but it's close

I think Darwin is very likely to start, and Burnley still play the same Kompany way. One last hurrah in one of the best games to play a Liverpool attacker, as annoying as Darwin is

Everton is much improved while Alvarez has been on a slump outside the CWC: he's barely getting the shots to miss or chances to fumble, unlike Darwin

Definitely won't play Saliba over your three high-xGI defenders with those opponents

Which one to start in next gameweek of these 3:

    A) Gabriel - WHU

Chaps - in a bit of pickle, have 2FT and 2.8m in the bank.

    Dubra / Areola
    Gabriel TAA Udog Taylor Guehi
    Saka Salah Son Palmer Gordon
    Watkins Solanke Alvarez

    A) Guehi to Trippier (spread funds)
    B) Guehi to Konsa
    C) Guehi to Saliba (double goons)
    D) Gordon to Richarlison

    Anything else I'm missing??

Yeah except he will score minus points in the (admitedly unlikely) scenario where Liverpool get smashed, unlike a midfielder. I think this train is destined to derail spectacularly because they aren't keeping cleans so its not like the big at the back glory days when cleanies and attacking hauls were on show and the goals may dry up for Pool when Salah departs for afcon.

      • 8 Years

Apart from Arsenal away what's the put off? Bournemouth can't defend, Chelsea dysfunctional. Newcastle away is about as horrendous as it gets and they barely have 11 players fit. And Trent number are ridiculous. He got 14 points vs United and Arsenal and that should be considered unlucky. Just outside the post shot, two big chances fluffed by teak mates in United and hits the cross bar essentially a eight point goal vs Arsenal with a goal conceded that's the most marginal offside I've seen without semi-automated lines. The view on Liverpool defence is skewed by the numbers. Arsenal numbers are better but they have Raya in goal. Liverpool are a big behind but they have Alison in goal. That counts when actual goals conceded are considered, which it should. Arsenal GC 16. Liverpool GC 16. Yet, people keep saying Liverpool defence are not good. Alison or Van Dijk won't revert to the mean anytime soon. Zinchenko will keep being exposed and Raya will keep making errors.
