34-year-old Callum Wilson has joined Brentford on a free transfer, following one season at West Ham United.
The centre-forward brings plenty of Premier League experience to the Gtech Community Stadium, having accumulated 95 goals across 271 top-flight appearances for Bournemouth, Newcastle United and the Hammers.
For Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, he was a particularly good pick during the 2018/19, 2020/21 and 2022/23 campaigns. They averaged 14.67 goals, eight assists and 153 points.
Some early 2025/26 form brought four goals by Gameweek 12, despite just 453 minutes.
However, unless Igor Thiago gets injured, Wilson will be limited to a peripheral role at Brentford.
And even when the Brazilian striker does miss out, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Keith Andrews opt for Dango Ouattara and/or Kevin Schade up top, as he did in Gameweek 14 last season. That was the only league match Thiago didn’t start.
Supersub status probably beckons for the ageing Wilson, who turns 35 midway through the upcoming campaign.
