The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) website uses coloured flags to signal which players are definitely and possibly unavailable for the upcoming Gameweek due to injury, suspension, illness or another reason.
They will be added once the player, his manager, or someone else closely associated with the club confirms the situation.
FPL authorities need this reliable source and won’t acknowledge online rumours.
How FPL classifies unavailable players

When clicked upon, an explanation will be given for each player’s flag.
Red flag – almost certainly ruled out
A mix of being completely unusable – whether it be a ban or the player having moved on to play in a different league – and there being virtually no chance of him appearing.
The latter is usually related to a serious injury or their real-life manager confirming such absence.
Amber flag – a major uncertainty
These individuals are given a 25% or 50% chance.
Whether it’s coming back from injury or having a knock with unknown severity, they are very unlikely to play.
Yellow flag – a slight doubt
Meanwhile, this comes alongside a 75% chance of appearing.
Their manager has confirmed a minor injury or illness, so they might or might not take part.
However, these percentages are very vague. For a more reliable update on player availability, Fantasy Football Scout is your best port of call.
Before every deadline, you can find updates from pre-match press conferences and a subsequent prediction of starting lineups. These have an impressively high success rate.
