This was Isak arriving at St James' Park today. Can you imagine if he had stepped up in injury time to take an equalising penalty? There would have been a city-wide riot.

    Thinking of doing this;

    Bruno + Isak 》》Sangare + Haaland (C) for -4

It feels wrong though given Utd have a good home fixture but I think Haaland is the better captaincy option for next gw. Is it worth -4?

It is one week too early for me. City were not great and playing away. United should be better at home. But as a non-Haalander my main priority in the next few weeks is going to be shifting Bruno to Haaland (either in week 3 or week 4 depending on whether i FH3)

    3. Mr Turnip 1

Not worth it. Sangare won’t typically score more than 5 points in a normal week, and could easily end up with 2. He’s not the kind of player you take a hit for. I think Utd will show a reaction at home v Ipswich, and they were probably a little unlucky not to end up with any goals against Hull in the first place

Did you watch the Brentford highlights? I suggest you do, Sangare is a different player than you are probably thinking

I did! I’m actually a Sangaré owner as well haha so I’m well aware of hi potential. He won’t be getting two attacking returns from 0.4 xGI every week though.

Sangare was involved in about a tenth of Brentford’s xG. If he’s involved in about a tenth of their goals this season, he’ll get a few attacking returns, but nothing crazy

Early knee-jerk reaction is that this years template is going to be no Bruno, triple Arsenal every week and value picks everywhere

immeasurable level of disappointment seeing szobo step up for that pen over isak. isak just wasnt there mentally today, doubt that happens again right?

    1. I think Szsoboslai stays on penalties after the conviction with which he took it. Wirtz + Isak are flakes.

could do. i just remember szobo missing at least 1 last season, so was really surprised isak didnt take. esp after isak's disappointment when kerkez didnt find him with that cross earlier on for a tap in, in the end he got the chance on a plate to make his mark but hid like you say

Tbh I'd be more worried about his general play than the 20 or so points per season penalties offer. He looked invisible in open play

i think the goals will come, i hope at least, not losing faith yet. idk, liverpools mids/full backs seemed to hold onto the ball for way too long today when driving forwards, hopefully iraola gets them playing quicker, isak made runs but by the time the liverpool ball carrier actually stopped to look up there was no space left for isak to run into. at least gakpo found him once today, poor attempt oh well. the occasion defo got to him abit.

im expecting the nonchalant get out of here celebration at home next gw once or twice to make up for it 🙂 for iraola to do well, at least until eki is back, alot rests on getting the best out of isak.

maybe im overrating him but he definitely was on the way to belonging to the best strikers in the world category during his newcastle heydays

Feels like maybe 20% that Isak could take the next one (especially if maybe early in the game next week) but yeah Szobo just feels like the one. Fell into the Wirtz trap again!

ah unfortunate. i dont own wirtz myself but was expecting a big-ish season from him, seemed like alot are (were?!?), too soon right 🙂 he can definitely come good

szobo doesnt strike me as the selfish type so if isak is happy to take the next one im sure he'll hand the ball over willingly to get his striker some confidence

I have to take my hat off to all the Szoboslai believers, you were right about the pens. Now stuck with a Wirtz who gets subbed just after the hour…

In the same boat. In hindsight, why didnt we see it was at least a toss up between him and Isak and that meant much better value.

Anyway, Wirtz could have scored if not for the good save so lets wait and see what happens next week

He was 1 second away from blanking, don't beat yourself up.

BUT, the reason to get him is that he is nailed on for 90 minutes every week with his many routes to points, which is a valuable asset in itself on FPL.

Already have Sangaré, but no Haaland. I’m saving my transfer in case I need to TC Haaland GW3. I wouldn’t be buying Sangaré this week if I didn’t own him mind, he got two returns from about 0.4 xGI, and managed to squeak to DefCon before getting subbed off at 75 mins. I think he’ll be a good pick this season, but if I was a non-owner I’d really want to see him get 90 mins reliably because otherwise he could easily miss out on DefCon, and he probably won’t get two assists again any time soon!

Hold. Mbeumo 0.7 xGI against Hull. I know he don’t put anything to bed but his underlying numbers are always mad and his returns will come.

Bruno F the top scoring FPL asset in the game after Carrick was appointed last year.

It’s the first game of the season at Old Trafford against promoted opposition and they need a reaction after losing to Hull.

      I expect goals from Utd

Really? I thought szob owners got off with one today. I am not sure penalties (and I wouldn't be surprised to see Isak take them eventually) and the odd direct free kick are enough to justify 7m for a defensive midfielder. When you can get a Sangaré for 1.5m cheaper...

Sangare will be better value than Szobo I’m almost certain.

That doesn’t mean Szobo won’t tick over with attacking returns. He takes corners as well, pens is normally around +5 goals for the season. He could deffo get to the 5-10 range for both G+A this year. He’ll be unexciting but probably decent and unlikely to need a transfer out too

Yh, I know he got one assist, but when he does that it really feels like Liverpool are playing two 8s and a 10, with zero protection for the 35-year old Van Dijk and inexperienced Jaqcuet at the back. They’ll struggle to defend against pace of that continues.

I’m not expecting the Liverpool defence to be very good for quite a few weeks, hence I swerved them for the start of the season

      I think it’s DCL

Brentford a better team than Forest and Liverpool more attacking than Leeds so Wirtz probably more likely to get something.

Would absolutely be playing Tzolis if I had him

    2. Mr Turnip 1

      I have both

I would definitely go for Gabriel over Cala on WC, Gabriel will reach 60 mins every game he’s fit for, Cala will start to suffer early subs/rotation as Champions League becomes a thing.

Gabriel will also never be subbed on, so you won’t get one point cameos like you might occasionally with Calafiori

      1. It might also be a good thing for a defender to be subbed (if its after 60 mins), because the team could concede after that.. He could get subbed before 60 also ofc which isn't optimal.
It's the cameo's that would be worst though.. but still, Calafiori is playing so advanced that it feels wrong to take him out.

    3. ZeBestee
      • 12 Years

Calafiori isnt 100% nailed, but he is on form now so would start the next gw unless injured which unfortunately happens to him a lot. I have him over Gab btw.

yes. gabriel should be a lock regardless imo unless you are desperate for 3 other arsenal players long term. think thats really the only reason to not own, if you think the value in other cheaper arsenal assets cannot be ignored

      1. Yeah it is hard to ignore the value in the likes of Calafiori, Odegaard and Tzolis. I'm sort of tempted by Saka also though. More tempted by double attack than double defence!

    2. Mr Turnip 1

      Yikes

I think it’s Isak or Szoboslai

I’d play Thiago over Isak because he’s more of a focal point, more nailed, and on pens. Szoboslai I don’t think has much outside of pens and set piece threat, but those points do come in steadily

      You could also consider Semenyo

I wouldn’t bench any of the other attackers

I think you probably have the defence right, though it might be Ajer over Maguire. Not 100% sure on that call

Bench order? Transfers in? For a long time or a short time?

Sangare the best value of the three in the long run imo

KDH might be the best over the next 5, though I still don’t trust he’ll keep over performing to the level he did last year

      Stach a solid pick

I had never planned bb this gw but ending up having a benching headache ...

My plan is wirtz and 4m keeper out for sangare and raya for -4

    bb this team

    raya
cala - van ewijk - hume
    bruno F (C) - mbeumo - tzolis - hinchelwood - sangare
    haaland pedro

lammens - de cuyper- muha - walle egeli

hoping the bench would cover 4 points and maybe get a few additional ones? will save me headache of bb later on.

    or would you keep wirtz??

    cheers and gl

      just now

I don’t know if I’d take a hit just to BB with a 4.5 fwd who probably won’t play

I’d roll if I were you
