We’ve put together our Scout Picks ‘bus team’ for Gameweek 4 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

The upcoming Scout Squad nominations, as well as the pre-match press conferences, will help shape our finalised picks.

However, this early draft, at the very least, offers an insight into the players and teams who are under consideration.

There are, as ever, certain restrictions for our squad:

  • An £83.0m overall budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

A reminder, too, that the Scout Picks are for the upcoming Gameweek in isolation.

GAMEWEEK 4 FIXTURES

Using our free-to-all ticker, here is the Gameweek 4 difficulty ranking. Unbeaten Hull City, who have kept three successive clean sheets, may have something to say about this…

FPL Gameweek 4 early Scout Picks:

THE LIKELY LADS

Thiago, Palmer v Rogers, sell Man Utd players? FPL Q&A

We’ll be going all-in on Chelsea’s attack, even though opponents Hull are defying expectations. However, despite being unbeaten and yet to concede, the Tigers’ 5.05 expected goals conceded (xGC) tally hints that their admirable resilience has been aided by some luck.

Cole Palmer (£9.6m), Joao Pedro (£7.7m) and Morgan Rogers (£7.6m) were all booked against Arsenal, but each has at least three attacking returns on the board. Whether it’s via a chip or free transfers, many FPL managers are trying to own two or more of these.

Elsewhere, Erling Haaland (£15.5m) and Alexander Isak (£9.0m) are the two highest-scoring forwards, having followed some Gameweek 1 misery with three goals in two.

Manchester City will make a short journey to Old Trafford, knowing the Norwegian is on eight goals from their seven previous league meetings, alongside several assists. Also, Manchester United have conceded twice in every 2026/27 match.

Whereas Isak is at home to Fulham, a backline that’s allowed the most big chances (14, below).

As well as these, we’ll likely pick at least two Brighton and Hove Albion players for their trip to goalless, pointless Coventry City.

Maxim De Cuyper (£4.7m) will almost certainly be one of them, as the FPL defender is still playing as a winger. He hauled in Gameweek 1 and took four corners versus Leeds United, one of which assisted Luka Vuskovic‘s (£5.0m) equaliser.

IN CONTENTION

Is Le Fee or Gross the better FPL budget midfielder? 4

What’s less certain is choosing Pascal Gross (£5.5m) or Diego Gomez (£5.0m) – or someone else! – from the Seagulls’ midfield.

35-year-old Gross is on lots of set-pieces, is the league’s leading crosser (25), and followed up Gameweek 2’s double-digit haul by missing a sitter against Leeds. He’s highly involved.

FPL Gameweek 4 early Scout Picks: Lots of Chelsea, Brighton + Liverpool

Yet only Haaland and Bruno Fernandes (£12.0m) have fired out more shots than the low-priced Gomez (12, above). None have hit the net, but he’s assisted twice. Meanwhile, a Brighton triple-up might lean towards two defensive parts, either through Vuskovic or Bart Verbruggen (£4.5m).

There’s a similar debate over our final Liverpool picks. Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) is their leading option at the back, as his early 2026 spell of six goals in 15 is still remembered.

But settling on a midfielder could go right to the wire.

Cody Gakpo (£7.2m) has delivered in every match, sitting above everyone else on 28 points. On the other hand, Florian Wirtz (£7.4m) is on just nine from three, but there’s always an exciting thought that the next game will be his masterclass. In between their points is all-rounder Dominik Szoboszlai (£7.0m), who has scored a penalty, secured a defensive contribution (DefCon) return, and is joint-best for successful crosses (seven).

Maybe Wednesday’s line-up against Atletico will give us more of a steer.

Arsenal have a good-looking fixture versus Sunderland; it’s just that there aren’t many slots left once Chelsea, Brighton and Liverpool have been targeted.

Having the league’s best defence adds appeal to Riccardo Calafiori (£5.7m) and the shockingly cheap Ezri Konsa (£4.4m). Then, in midfield, Martin Odegaard (£6.6m) already has two double-digit hauls to his name.

THE LONGER SHOTS

FPL notes: Mitchell goals, King again + two bad defences

With Brighton, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal assets expected to form the bulk of the Scout Picks (as well as Haaland), other players and teams will struggle to get much of a look-in.

Crystal Palace have probably the best fixture of the rest, with visitors Ipswich Town clean-sheet-less. But defensively, the Eagles are a mess, conceding at least twice in nine consecutive matches, stretching back to late April. No team has a bigger xGC (6.47). The attacking midfielders and forwards are all rotation risks, too.

Still, Tyrick Mitchell (£4.5m) scored a brace on Saturday, and Anan Khalaili (£5.0m), the other wing-back, mixes an attacking mindset with DefCon achievements from both starts.

Bournemouth v Brentford, Leeds United v Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur v Everton and Aston Villa v Nottingham Forest are all in the ‘tough to call’ envelope, and it’s hard to see any of their players encroaching on our Gameweek 4 XI.

    Bottomed

    FH 4

    Martinez
    Calafiori - White - Porro
    Bruno - Saka - Palmer - Wirtz - Gakpo
    Isak - Pedro

Keep this team or do Bruno + Saka + Porro ➡ Haaland + Odegaard + Vuskovic?

Do it or save the FH? Team otherwise would be -

    Sels
    Calafiori - Konsa - Muharemovic - Williams
    Palmer - Cherki - Szoboszlai - Sangare
    Haaland - Pedro

    Thoughts please?

        Re Bruno -

I have a feeling that we’d get Bruno as false 9 in the derby as Carrick will pack the midfield with Santos, Mainoo and Tielemans

Hence valuing Bruno more on the FH

Just feel Bruno, Saka and Isak will have great scores and I own none. Haul potential high for them all.

Or maybe DCL? Like his chances vs Newcastle who give up a lot of chances

    Martinez

Calafiori - De Cuyper - Konsa

    Palmer - Gakpo - Grob - Odegaard

    Pedro - Haaland - Isak

    (Dubravka, Barnes, Hall, Mendy)

    0.3 ITB.

Realise I have a lot of money on the bench, but the plan is to BB soon.

Good to go or any changes?

Gross to Gomez isn't big downgrade and if you plan to BB, you don't waste two gk transfers to get one in and out.

Evening all. On FH, currently like this one. Have added Bruno, may fancy him to play the false 9/near CF and United on the break is interesting. City conceeded nearly 1.5xG to coventry bodes well for United. I expect City to control possession and United to try and hit them on the break.

    Current FH

    Trafford
    Porro White Cala
    Saka Palmer Bruno Szob Rogers
    Isak Pedro

    No clue yet on captain

        1 month, 15 days ago

I think i will go there, but 0.1mil short currently. Hoping a 3.9mil defender/mid or 4.4mil striker emerges.

And this time above is already before Rogers , Cala and Gakpo rose

Brighton will conceed to Coventry, Brighton defence has been very very poor last 2 games on all underlyings. So wont go there. what you reckon on the draft below?

Leeds are A LOT better defensively than Brighton mate, and they're at home as well. Brighton extremely lucky not to lose at home to Leeds last weekend.

Another alternative FH i like is this. 0.0 in the bank

          Kinsky
          Gabriel White Calafiori
          Bruno Palmer Rogers Gakpo Wirtz
          Pedro Isak

Think i like this one more to be honest.

            Yup, better.

You can go Virgil + Konsa over Gabriel + White, and then do Wirtz to Saka.

            1. FPL_trail_runner
              1 month, 15 days ago

Yep thats a nice potential upgrade

I can also go with Trafford over Kinsky with the 0,5mil, as i trust the leeds defence more.

Plus gives another player for Monday night

              Trafford
              VVD Cala Konsa
              Saka Palmer Rogers Bruno Gakpo
              Isak Pedro

Being on WC is driving me nuts! Overthinking is real!

    Kinsky
    Vuskovic, Calafiori, Konsa, N. Williams
    Mbeumo, Palmer, Rogers
    Haaland, Joao Pedro, Isak

    Bench: Forster, Gomez, Egan, Slater

On the wildcard this week and currently sitting with £1.2m in the bank.

Pretty happy with the structure, but I’m not sure whether I should be spending more of the money or keeping the flexibility.

    Main questions:

    * Any obvious upgrades with the £1.2m ITB?
    * Should I upgrade my bench for Gomez to Tavernier?
    * Is there a better £4.5m-ish bench option than Slater?
    * My plan is to use my first free transfer for Palmer out and Saka in to cover Arsenal attack, keeping Pedro and Roger’s to cover Chelsea attack. Wanted Raya in goal but can’t get him in, 0.3 short

Would love some feedback — what would you change?

    Thanks!

You need a better 4th mid, Slater's fine at 5th. Get Dubravka, back-up to Kinsky.

      1. JerseyD
        1 month, 15 days ago

My fear is that Dubravka will drop in value

Which 6mil mid would you go for?

        1. David Parkinson
          1 month, 15 days ago

Don't worry about drops, good long-term hold with free cover.

Take a half out of defence and get Odegaard.

    Revamped my FH a bit.

    Martinez
Gabriel - Calafiori - De Cuyper
    Bruno - Saka - Palmer - Gakpo - Pino
    Isak - Pedro

Realllly like it now. Serious haul potential. Difficult to resist.

    Yay or Nay?

      Looks good

    2. FPL_trail_runner
      1 month, 15 days ago

      Im also on FH

Rather Kinsky or Trafford over Martinez, his ceiling is 6. And chelsea are on a run of 20+ games with no cleansheet, would rather take JP Palmer rogers (who get 3 points if chelsea keep a clean which is 75% of what martinez will get).

De Cupyer is a no for me, Coventry i think will score, and brighton probably due to a thin squad have been battered on xG the past 2 weeks, really bad for some reason. I see 1-2 goals for coventry.

Pino i dont like either, in fact the team to target is Palace who have woeful data, but Ipswich dont have a real fpl player to trust.

My two drafts above i think are more likely to hit.

Is Odegaard a better pick than Tzolis?

      Yes.

Would you FH this team? Lack of Chelsea worries me.

    Kinsky

    Calafiori Ajer Maguire

    Cherki Bruno Szob Tzolis Gross

    Pedro Haaland

    Dubravka DCL Hume Diop

I've already committed to FH or WC this week and more I look at upcoming fixtures I prefer FH. Wouldn't mind getting Man U players back next week and could go without Haaland this week

I agree, likely doing the same

  22. FPL Emu

How is this for a free hit team, ladies and gents?

    Raya

    MdC - Muharemovic - Gabriel

    Palmer - Rogers - Szoboslai - Gakpo - Saka

    Pedro - Isak

Subs Verbruggen, Neco W, Thomas, 4.5 fwd

    1. Titus Bramble
      1 month, 15 days ago

Really good. And the more I think of it the more it makes sense to play it this week. I messed up by playing my wildcard. Hopefully there are more opportunities down the line.

      I like the double Liverpool

      1. FPL Emu
        1 month, 15 days ago

Fulham just seem like they will leak goals, and Pool defence has not been convincing. I would like VVD, but actually so many other good defenders anyway

    2. Warby84
      1 month, 15 days ago

Take as much money from the bench as possible and improve defence, I’m pretty sure Muharemovic could become Virgil

      1. FPL Emu
        1 month, 15 days ago

        Not with triple Liverpool attack

      2. Warby84
        1 month, 15 days ago

        I see 3 Liverpool already..

    3. Steve McCroskey

Surely Calafiori over Gabriel? More of an attacking upside

      1. FPL Emu
        1 month, 15 days ago

A bit, sure. But I still think Gabriel is better overall if their prices were the same (which they effectively are on a Haaland-less FH

    4. Warby84
      1 month, 15 days ago

On this as it stands 0.3 itb

      Trafford
      Virgil Calafiori Konsa
      Saka Fernandes Palmer Rogers Gakpo
      Pedro Isak

      It is beautiful.

  23. Titus Bramble
    1 month, 15 days ago

I am playing my wildcard. £0.2m itb

    Verbruggen
    Calafiori Konsa Dedic
    Saka Palmer Rogers Cherki Gakpo
    J.Pedro Haaland
    (Steele Thomas Davis WalleEgeli)

    1. BrockLanders
      1 month, 15 days ago

I wouldn't have Cherki on WC

      1. Titus Bramble
        1 month, 15 days ago

Who should I get instead; Mbeumo or Morgan Gibbs-White?

You not trying to get Isak?

      1. Titus Bramble
        1 month, 15 days ago

No, I think he’s a bit overpriced tbh. I think JPedro is on par with him and better value.

    Thoughts on this wc team?

    Raya
    Calafiori Konsa Muharemovic
    Palmer Rogers Gakpo Dewsbury-hall
    Haaland Pedro DCL

    (Palmer Gross Hall VanHeck)

    1. Warby84
      1 month, 15 days ago

I worry about Everton as an attacking side, and I certainly wouldn’t go with DCL on WC

      1. BradBB
        1 month, 15 days ago

A gree on DCL, Barry or Wissa better?

          1 month, 15 days ago

If you have played bench boost go non playing to play Hall every week.. I would maybe do Raya to Trafford then Dewsbury to Odegaard maybe

Nico O'Reilly will "probably" be available for #ManCity against Manchester United on Sunday, says Enzo Maresca. However, there remains doubts over Jeremy Doku.

GTG - used FT on Maguire to Konsa

    Verb
    Cal Konsa Gvardiol
    Palmer szob tzolis cherki
    Pedro DCL Haaland

    Dub Gomez Diop Ewijk

Still debating -4 to get Isak in, alternatively I can hold and transfer Palmer to Bruno (C) next week

        1. BrockLanders

I really like Isak but I wouldn't spend 4 points getting him
