Anelka Bonus As Drogba Faces Ban
Fantasy investors in Nicolas Anelka will have a smile on their face this evening with today’s news that Didier Drogba had been charged with violent conduct by the FA.
Drogba has been formally charged after returning the Burnley fans’ coin donations during his goal celebrations in Wednesday’s Carling Cup tie. The striker is now set to face a three match ban as a result. Bad news for Drogba, excellent news for Anelka’s fantasy owners who can now wallow in the comfort of another few unchallenged starts for the Premiership’s top scorer…
Chelsea have until 6pm on Monday evening to respond to the charges but, given that the club have now issued a statement condemning Drogba’s actions, an appeal looks unlikely.
Drogba’s ban won’t kick in until after the weekend then, and there’s every chance that the striker will feature in some capacity at the Hawthorns according to reports. However, Anelka will surely keep his place tomorrow and I can’t see Chelsea throwing Drogba into the action - he’ll get a place on the bench at best in my opinion.
The three match ban is yet to be confirmed but will presumably follow after Monday’s curfew for the appeal. Drogba is likely to miss home Premiership matches with Newcastle, Arsenal and the trip to Bolton.

1st surely not

Drogba is a real dingbat. Even amongst some pretty big headed young men with too much money, he is arrogant beyond belief.

Exactly what I was thinking. Remember, Berbatov usually starts to get going around this time of year. I will still be saying that when my FPL team gets relegated
[Reply]
true but chelsea dont exactly have a tough game either. either of them could get a hat-trick
[Reply]
Chelsea have an easier run of games, but man utd’s upcoming opponents aren’t known for keeping clean sheets either.
[Reply]
Yeah it’s a tough one to call. Stoke might well try a damage limitation exercise whilst I know for a fact that West Brom won’t (well their manager has said so anyway). It’s not so clear cut after all. Especially considering the injury of Alex.

Agreed, quite how Mark manages all of this site with just the love of the game is compelling - Mark it might be worth adding a Paypal donation link even during these dark times of crunching credit most people would happily throw a few quid your way for all the hard work.

I also have to add a bit of thanks to Mark for the site. I am an American who loves the Premier League, and being in middle of the U.S., getting any real EPL news can be a challenge, even with the internet. This site is my only real stop in planning my team week after week. Thanks again.

I too will throw a HUGE thank you to Mark. I also echo the praise of his ability to maintain a job and a Mrs. whilst doing this site. Additionally I’m a Yank from across the pond and find this site a one stop shop for all my in-depth football needs. I would be all for dropping some donations Mark’s way if the option was available. I want/NEED this site for my Future FPL teams!

Mark -
Gotta keep the love going. When I started Never Captain Nicky Butt - I was looking at giving a casual fresh take at fantasy footie for American players and newcomers to the game, and through my research and website setup, I landed at your site.
I love your work because it is formulaic and the user generated community responses and banter are great.
At Nicky Butt, we go for a more debate/artistic style, and I think both destinations work well hand in hand for the fantasy footie addict with a bit of free time.
Keep up the excellent work -
- Ibra.

I’m now pretty p****d off I didn’t sign Anelka two weeks ago. But I really really can’t see me shipping either Bosingwa, Cech or Lampard to make room or dropping Berbatov for him. Painful to watch what should have been a week or two high turn into something more durable and worthwhile and not having benefited.
[Reply]
Who do people fancy to score more this gameweek, Torres or Robinho? It’ll cost me 4 pts to get Torres this week but’ll probably cost me 4 pts next week too when I want to do something else!
Just going through the pros and cons of the top end strikers, I keep thinking that Torres is too expensive, but then I see his history - 5 full games played without breaking something, 5 goals, 6 bonus points - and I go all gooey!
[Reply]
Blimey - thanks guys, much appreciated. Thanks for the support and you’re continued contributions to this ‘ere community - it’s been brilliant to see it grow so much in just a couple of seasons. Now…on with the picks.

Before this site came along I had no friends and felt fantasy football was a great way to find friends, even online ones. Well years and months later I still have no friends but I am 1st/2nd in my leagues.
