O’Hara Set To Move On?

Jamie O’Hara’s loan spell at Portsmouth is set to be brought to an end by the middle of this month according to reports this morning. His agreement at Fratton Park is due to expire on January 15th and this today there are claims that Spurs are looking to recall the player and loan him out to another Premier League club.

Portsmouth’s ongoing problems with meeting player wages and the transfer embargo in place at the club, already make a loan extension look unlikely. With loan deals currently being extended throughout the country, the O’Hara situation is yet to be resolved. Yesterday it was confirmed that Spurs had refused the club permission to field O’Hara in their Cup tie with Coventry – fuelling speculation that he would be recalled…

O’Hara has shown decent form in a struggling Portsmouth side and has represented strong budget value in fantasy terms. Starting at just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game, O’Hara has seen a price rise to 4.6 and is owned by over 100,000 managers. Should he return to Spurs he would surely struggle to break into Redknapp’s side but Harry has offered strong indication that another loan deal would be on the cards.

“Jamie needs to play, that’s the problem”

Amongst the January transfer frenzy, the O’Hara situation may seem insignificant but is clearly worth monitoring. Should he find himself in a stronger attacking side, his fantasy potential would take another step forward and his popularity would be on the rise again.

why was defoe even on the pitch?!?

risking my players redknapp you shit

  2. I read that Defoe had a minor foot injury prior to the Peterborough game so why he played him is anybody’s guess…..

  3. oi keano says:

Anybody know when Landon Donovan will be avaliable for FPL selection?

    • Borden says:

mate, you’ve got 9 more points than me, but you’re about 3000 places higher! thats mental!

got no idea about the donovan thing? u considerin him already or just curious?

    • He’s only officially ‘at’ Everton since today. FPL pledge to have new players available within seven days.

  4. Wingnut-74 says:

For those of you playing CYKI, have you seen our leagues stats in the “Best Leagues” page? Blimey, we are geeks!

    • Borden says:

      no, are we top??

    • Andy says:

What bits the “geeky” bit – The fact we are top by a country mile or the fact we just have so many more entrants?

As a paragon of Fantasy Football Scout (and ‘champion’ of the leagues) I personally am proud of both.

      • I’m with you there, Andy

        • alsybach says:

          sad

        • Especially since we seem to be sticking it to FISO!

        • Wingnut-74 says:

Yeah we’re top by a long way.
Andy/Merry – I am a fantasy geek and proud of it, I’ve been doing various versions for years. My mates take the p*ss at my attentiveness towards my team.
The “geek” comment came from our average score compared to all other leagues.

          • Andy says:

It’s certainly the perfect start, I like to see it. Hopefully we’ll actually one day get to a position where we affect the average score – but it’s a bloody uphill struggle, even in a game of less competitors like the CYKI ones.

            • When we get to such a lofty height, we should pledge a week where we all make an outrageous transfer of a random guy to, firstly, push his price up and, secondly, push the average score down when he doesn’t play or makes a buffoon of himself.

They don’t come more random than our beloved El Zhar.

          • I see you’re the same score as Andy, and five ahead of me – have you more to come tomorrow?

            • Wingnut-74 says:

I have Owen(c), Ramsey, Sturridge & Warnock to come off the bench for tomorrow.
It’s my 1st season using this site and it really has made a difference. Some of the guys in my leagues always ask what my secret is – but I’m not telling!

      • mar says:

andy, howd ur fa cup team do?

        • Andy says:

          47 points and counting.

          • JWF says:

I like that name. I think that’s what I’ll call you from now on. Now off to get your pudding and pie.

            • Andy says:

You call me that you get banned from the site, you’ve been warned.

              • JWF says:

;) What’s that they say about absolute power? Stop making those girls cry, no means no!

                • Andy says:

No does not mean no, it’s just them there temptresses ways of playing hard to get – do you know nothing? duhhhh!

                  • JWF says:

I bow to your superior talents. I’ve made many a fair maiden shed tears.

                • Are you lot confusing Andy Pandy with Georgie Porgie?

                  • JWF says:

So I am (it’s late). Damn that undermines this whole thread. Thwarted. Andy Pandy had the flowerpot men right?

                  • Andy Pandy has the red and yellow car.
Noddy has the mice in the mouse organ.
                    Bagpuss lives in a shoe.
The Clangers are the collected government of Vietnam.

                    It’s simple, really.

                  • JWF says:

                    Yeah, OK Billy thanks ;)

Bill and Ben were the flower pot men so I guess Andy Pandy learned to woo the girls in his picnic basket

  5. TorresMagic says:

Looks like Lampard is on the crest for a rise. 50 mins til price changes come out. going to be close. Buy if its tight money wise.

  6. goblinz says:

would you guys bring in torres or rooney for defoe? both has nice fixtures but rooney in better form. what do u guys think?

    • NotoriousDRE says:

Rooney…Torres is still a few games away from being his usual lethal self

    • TorresMagic says:

Rooney with his current form vs Torres who missed a sitter from what I’m told. Rooney hands down.

      • mar says:

no offence TM but ur always giving out wrong information on this site regarding rises and drops. if ur not sure just dont comment on it please

        • Number 5 says:

i agree with u on that mar, TM does have a bad habit of doing that :p

        • TorresMagic says:

Fair enough mar, a few examples would help but I’ll keep it to myself more in future.

          • mar says:

i jus remember u tellin me a few weeks ago that rooney wouldnt rise, before a certain gw deadline and he did. and jus noticed that you jus commented on lampard rise there. there have been a few other times too but im not slaggin mate jus think it could mislead ppl and mess up thier plans big style. apart from that the rest of ur advice is sound mate :)

            • TorresMagic says:

Any info I get is from Fantasy tools. In the early days things weren’t as exact & some rises/falls slip through. Sorry about Rooney & I guess he was one of those cases. If anyone is 100% reliant on price changes in their transfers then they haven’t allowed for them well enough in their budgets. Changes about to come through now.

              • NotoriousDRE says:

relying 100% on anything said here and then blaming that person for not being accurate…is simply ludacris!

you make the final decisions for your team….take full responsibility for your actions….

                • mar says:

                  shut it notorious!

                • JWF says:

I agree Notorious. No one forces anyone else to do anything. We all have access to the same two sites when it comes to assessing price rises and falls and if you can’t interpret those sites for yourself then don’t balme someone else for having a go and getting it wrong.

          • Borden says:

i still appreciate u tho torresmagic

    • JWF says:

Rooney all day long. Good form and great fixtures

  7. waldaz says:

does anyone have news on Hangeland’s fitness? Will he play vs Stoke?

    • TorresMagic says:

Didn’t play in FA Cup but I expect him to play although I’d love him to be rested one more game. Late fitness test is his worse case scenario.

  8. Rich says:

when will the price changes come? and who will rise and drop?

  9. TorresMagic says:

What a boring day for price changes.

Javier Mascherano has gone down in price to 4.6 million

Lampard guaranteed for a rise tomorrow.

    • Applebonkers says:

ctc 1 fantasytools 0. :) lamps may even last till tuesday morning before a rise, although a rush of transfers as soon as he comes through the watford game unscathed should see him go up tomorrow.

    • Borden says:

      are u sure?
cos im gonna get him in tomo night. and if he doesnt rise, im gonna expect u to play me the full 0.1m!
i’m not kidding around either, let it be on your head!!!

      (only messin mar)

  10. Rich says:

would it be crazy to captain franco this week?

  11. aha_berg says:

Why team is looking a bit empty with injuries so I need to get rid of Lennon. I’ve already swapped Drogba for Tevez.

    I’ve got 11.2 to spend.

I’m thinking of either bringing in Valencia (bir, BUR, HUL), or taking a slight risk with Joe Cole (hul, SUN, BIR).

  12. aleef7 says:

guy ne suggestion which midfielder i cud take frm man city?or shud i go 4 joe cole?thinkin of nxt 5 fixtures.temptd to take modric also.very confused.help!

    • I’ve had my eye on Joe Cole for a while, but so far he hasn’t really been producing, even though he has played a reasonable amount.

At 9.0 mil, that’s a high price to be taking a punt on.

  13. bobn says:

this idea that FT is more accurate than CTC is pie in the sky stuff.

propaganda from friends of the site like torresmagic basically. the evidence to support simply isnt there.

but still, two good guidelines for price changes.

    • My experience of the two has been that usually Frank’s site says that a player is closer to a rise than the same player on CTC.

For instance, someone may be 85.1% to rise on Frank’s, and only 72.3% on CTC. Normally, if a player hasn’t been injured for ages, so that no protection issues cloud the picture, if the player creeps up above 100.0% on Frank’s site, then they have always gone up that evening, from any examples that I can remember. The next day, CTC then restarts the count even though, the day prior that player wasn’t over the 100% mark on their site.

I think that the two sites operate with a slightly different rise/fall threshold at the moment, and purely from my experience with ‘normal’, un-protected players, Frank’s site has been spot on. I stress though, that I haven’t immaculately checked every case, just the one or two players each day that I’ve been interested in over the last couple of months, and so with other players Frank’s site may be slightly out, and I can’t vouch for checking every player.

      • bobn says:

are you taking into account the last count on CTC is at 10pm?

from my experience theyre about as accurate as each other, with both getting a similar %age of players wrong. FT is excellent for a one click review of recent price changes, CTC brings proven long-term performance to the table and a cleaner interface.

the “more accurate” gimmick? cant see it.

        • Excellent point. I hadn’t thought about the fact that CTC updates only 6 or 7 times a day. Unless you compare the two sites at an update time for CTC, my assessment is not totally accurate. I think that sometimes their is a large discrepancy, (10-20%), between each site and that can’t all be down to the differing update frequencies.

Overall, I use both sites and err on the side of caution when it comes to making transfers. If there is a chance that someone may rise or drop, I will do the respective transfer, as the majority of time there is little to gain by waiting an extra day unless it is the evening before a gameweeks deadline.

        • TorresMagic says:

Bobn, thats the point, CTC is periodic counted on a daily basis with the last count at 10pm. From 10pm to 1am, CTC has no idea what transfers occur & how many are actually lost when a player changes price. FT is updated every minute & whenever the FPL site updates, FT updates, its that simple.
Best example I can give is waiting to catch a train at London at 1am, using CTC, you know roughly where the train is at 10pm & have to guess if the train will get there at 1am. Using FT, you have GPS on the train & know exactly where it is at any time.

        • Frank says:

          Hi Bobn,

As you said, the problem with CTC is that it doesn’t update frequently enough, meaning the data used is incorrect. In terms of accuracy, there are significantly more accurate predictions from FT every week than CTC, and yes I have been tracking it.

In terms of the interface, almost everybody I have asked prefers FT, and the ability to view the progress of all the members of your team in 1 click has proved very popular.

The only time any player has been ‘wrong’ on FT (ie, predicted to rise and then didn’t) has been due to protection, and in all of those cases I have warned people that protection may be in place.

  14. Churchill says:

Seems like most of the Drogba money is spent on Tevez. 106k transfers in.

  15. dann17 says:

Who should I bring in for Lennon?

    Petrov/Dunn/Kranjcar/Modric/Huddlestone, anyone else?

    • Churchill says:

No one yet, leave it as late as you can before transfer deadline.

      • I’m not transferring out Lennon. He should be out for only two weeks according the majority of reports that I’ve read, (including from Harry himself), which means that he should miss only the Liverpool game at Anfield. Considering the fact that I would have been benching him for this fixture anyway, (as I did when Spurs played Fulham over Christmas), then I don’t really lose any ‘good’ fixtures with him. It saves me having to waste loads of transfers getting him back in again, as I plan to keep him for the rest of the season!

        • Churchill says:

Little point on transferring a player out if he’s only injured short term. More news will filter through in the days to come I suppose.

Speaking of Spurs, any news on Defoe?

          • Again, Defoe has Liverpool next up and I’m benching him for that game too! Lol

My bench for the next gameweek should consist of Lennon, Defoe and Steinsson!

  16. Morning all. Hope everyone had aa great New Years Eve.

I have a strange situation this week, I DONT feel the need to make transfers.

I plan next week to get back in Fab (if fit and playing) and downgrade Samab to Nelson.

Also plan later to get Dunn back in for Diaby, again, when fit.

I know Im missing out on Man Citys points so the other option is maybe Samba to Zabelleta.

    Any thoughts?

    • JN says:

I think you may see some fair returns from the City defence over the next 6 weeks or so, and Zabaleta is playing well enough last few games, i think Mancini will improve this department and they have good fixtures.

The problem is how he will improve it, lots of money and transfer window open will be cause for concern for most City players, so Zabaleta is somewhat a risk. I think i would monitor what happens first.

  17. Big Jono says:

Im not sure about Cityd defence at the moment swindon, they have no CBs available really.

    Anywho, onto me ;)
I need to pick 4 midfielders out of Dunn, Diaby, Kranjcar, Milner, and Valencia.

Would complete my team of Reina, Cole, Terry, Dawson, Insua, Tevez, Rooney.

    • I woud drop Dunn. Probably doubtful still and Valencia in form, TOT away to a poor Liverpool team, Diaby in form and at home, Milner at home to inconsistent Wigan.

Even if Dunn was fit I recon he would start on the bench

  18. lew86 says:

    Play Dunn, drop Insua.

  19. Sean_FF says:

Thoughts on Collison? When I’ve watched my beloved hammers play recently he has been getting forward quite a bit. He has the fixtures to bring in some points as well:

WLV avl por BLA bur BIR HUL mun BOL

The only games there that I can see West Ham scoring less that 2 in are Villa away, Birm home and Man Utd away. He looks like a he could potentially bring in some steady returns from the easier fixtures, but are there better options in his price range?

    • aussiepundit says:

Collison had been granted the ability to get forward down the wing by Zola since West Ham have their current forward injuries, has missed a few really easy opportunities in the last few weeks, bound to get on the score sheet again sooner rather than later.

I already have Diamanti and Collison, considering Upson… Enough said.

      • Sean_FF says:

Indeed he seems a sound purchase at 5.2. There isn’t much talk of him on here though which made me think I might be missing something. Dunn at 5.4 is hogging the limelight I guess.

      • SammyC says:

Don’t triple up on West Ham!!!

  20. JUDGYJAY says:

Anybody know if Sorenson was subbed because of injury???

  21. metalhead says:

people still seem to be selling dunn – isnt he back? did he play in the fa cup?

    • metalhead says:

as i see, he was subbed after 55 mins. how did he play and y was he subbed early with rovers going down?

  22. Morrissey1986 says:

Sir Alex gives the answer to the question I been waiting for all season…..

It is difficult to leave out Rooney. That is the thing because I think Owen is identical to Wayne in the position he plays in terms of being further up the pitch, with Berbatov in the team.

“The combinations are more likely to be Berbatov and Owen, or Berbatov and Rooney. Rooney and Owen together, well then you have to have Rooney dropping in, I prefer him up the pitch a bit more, I must admit.”

  23. PMcC says:

I see Sorensen went off yesterday, is he injured?

  24. jimmythegent says:

Is dawson for spurs likely to be an ever present in the upcoming gameweeks. Im looking at spurs defenders.

Might spend a bit more on corluka because he is a nailed on starter.

    What do you guys think?

    • Morrissey1986 says:

Well Ledley can’t play every week and the games are coming thick at fast. Dawson has given Redknapp a headache. Woodgate will be fit soon (lol) but I don’t think Dawson has done anything wrong to lose his place.

      • jimmythegent says:

cheers mate, think ill take a punt on dawson. Bale was catching my eye with assou ekotto in africa and performed well yesterday.

  25. Morrissey1986 says:
