Not often acclaimed for his sage-like wisdom, Granville is enjoying his season in the sun and is firing advice, sympathy and jibes my way, in equal measure. With little to lose, I’ve even resorted to taking his guidance on board. After spending points on transfers on the Mancunian’s recommendation, I’m looking on my squad with optimistic eyes, although Granville is far from convinced that I made the “greatest hits”.

After raining on my revival parade, Granville joins me to talk Suarez, Oscar vs Hazard and Jim Bowen before we roll out the podcast regulars – “All Aboard”, the weekend preview and the usual dalliance with the ScoutCast team.

    Fellas, can I get some ideas on my team? Cheers. Some ideas I have:

    A. Townsend > Sess [boring, not convinced about Sess]
    B. Lukaku > Benteke [exciting owning Benteke, MNF, good fixtures all the way until New Years]
    C. Fix the defense? Ward / Chester out to an Arsenal / WBA defender?
    D. Hold FT and get Aguero in next week for Lukaku (with Ozil / Oscar out)

        Agree about Arnautovic. He's been top of my transfer list for a couple of weeks but I kept getting injuries. Got a few mil in the bank, so in theory should have plenty of choice, but midfield options are so iffy. Maybe Cabaye?

          Well I was going to just play it safe and keep it on Suarez but with Sturridge injured and Gerrard probably not 100% and Suarez being flown in late, I don't feel that comfortable with captaining a Liverpool player. So it's down to either another safe option in Rooney or a complete punt on Hazard or Sessegnon. Haven't decided yet.

              Naaah Southampton are solid at the back and I think Ramsey might play on the wing this weekend. West Ham on the other hand have 3 of their usual 4 defenders out injured so Haz could have a field day. Sess in a derby on MNF... that would be a fun captain pick.

    Like a lot of people this week my defence is a shambles.

    Baines, Terry, Burner (Clyne, Dawson)

    A -4 hit for Clyne out, Mertesacker in would solve my problem. Opinions welcome. Ars have some nice fixtures in the next couple & I would sell Mert for McAuley in gw15. People are taking plenty of hits this week so if I took one it wouldn't put me at a disadvantage.

        playing 3 Liverpool players away to Everton is overkill imo. Everton have been keeping clean sheets too, where as my 3 defenders I have playing can all score or assist against weaker teams than Everton

      If rooney keeps scoring just 2 -3 poimts less than him every week. And suarez/ aguero keeps scoring more or the same to him, then I cannot see the attraction there at all yet. Need another 2 consistent gws to convince me.. or just one really big one. And even then, I wouldnt want a forwardline of rvp aguero suarez. Imagine how bad the rest of the team would be!

    If Sturridge ends up not starting (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2511398/Merseyside-derby-Brendan-Rodgers-worried-Daniel-Sturridge-wont-fit-start.html) I think it's mixed news for Suarez but good news for Coutinho. Last week against Fulham when Sturridge was subbed off with Coutinho on the pitch, Coutinho moved into the hole and was in the box like a second striker.

        Probably will. But if he does, a bit walking wounded. It makes a lot more sense now that Rodgers has come out and said he had a dead leg for the last 3-4 weeks, when the goals have dried up.

          Yes but hes always on the edge of injury even at the start of the season, i think its just Rogers trying to protect him after his loss of form.

            Guy is made of glass. I had him earlier in the season and I think it was an injury scare that got me free of him!

      i think suarez will still be involved but agree with stirude there defenders makr him that gives suarez space.....

      am now thinking aguero captain instead

        Yeah it's tricky. I mean Suarez did absolute go wild when he was playing as lone striker. Might even be a boost to his captaincy prospects as he will have such a huge slice of the pie, but the pie should get a bit smaller.
