The Fantasy Flutter – Gameweek 8

In this week’s attempt to get the better of Paddy, we call upon Arsenal’s big-money signing to deliver the goods against Hull later today. We also place our faith in a couple of old Fantasy favourites who seems to be rediscovering the form of seasons gone by.

Arsenal’s home clash with Hull brings Alexis Sanchez onto this week’s radar. With the Gunners’ hit hard by injuries, their summer signing from Barcelona could prove the difference against Steve Bruce’s dodgy defence – Sanchez has scored in two of his last three league starts and with Paddy offering 3/1 on Sanchez to score and Arsenal to keep out their opponents, we’re willing to make this our bet of the week and fork out £4 on this one.

Out next stop is at the Etihad, where champions City entertain Tottenham in the Gameweek’s earl kick-off. Veteran midfielder Frank Lampard has looked reborn in recent weeks, racking up four goals and two assists in just six appearances across all competitions for Manuel Pellegrini’s side. With Yaya Toure arriving late back from international duties, there’s the possibility that Lampard could start this one – even if he’s benched, though, it’s worth noting that Lampard has scored as a sub in two of the last three Gameweeks and has the knack of punishing tiring defences. Paddy are prepared to offer 6/1 on Lampard to score and City to keep a clean sheet and we’re willing to shell out £3 for the Etihad encounter.

Our final flutter of Gameweek 8 sees us switch our attentions to Tyneside. Paddy are offering 25/1 on Papiss Cisse to score at least twice and the Magpies to register a clean sheet – given that the Newcastle striker has bagged a brace in two of his three appearances, he’ll fancy his chances against a Foxes defence that have shipped at least two goals in five of the opening seven fixtures.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up on this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Struggling for captain choice from the following; Costa (Palace A), Pelle (Sunderland H), Di Maria (West Brom A), Sterling (QPR A), Welbeck (Hull H)

    I think I can rule out Costa due to potential injury and against a decent defence.

    Pelle is on great form and has the easiest fixture.

    Di Maria is on fire and West Brom look poor at the back.

    Sterling looks far from his best but a rest could have helped him and QPR are hopeless.

    Welbeck is another injury doubt but surely he will play, as a Hull fan it would feel wrong and I think Arsenal will be lucky to score more than 2 so not liking that option.

    Any advice?

    Krul, Foster
    Moreno, Clyne, Pva, Wilson, Moore
    Dimaria, Fabregas, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Boyd
    Costa, Aguero, Ulloa

    Which Option would be best for this lot?

    1) Pva -> Tomkins/Reid?
    2) Moreno -> Tomkins/Reid?
    3) Pva + Fabregas -> Baines/Ivanovic + Chadli/Downing? (-4)
    4) Morenp + Fabregas -> Baines/Ivanovic + Chadli/Downing? (-4)
    5) Moreno + Fabregas + Ulloa -> Baines/Ivanovic + Chadli/Downing + Welbeck (-8)

    Please choose whose better between Tomkins n Reid, Ivan n Baines, Chadli n Downing.

    Thanks in Advance!

    There are a lot of things we have different opinions on in this game but the craziest one has to be picking captains based on kick off time.

    While I know they are by no means perfect, I always like to check the bookies' goalscoring odds.
    Interestingly Sanchez is backed very highly to score by the bookies.

    Some are even offering the same odds for welbeck and Sanchez. Interpret that information however you wish, but it surprised me.

      I made two transfers yesterday for a -4 hit.

      Now I'm looking at my team on the transfers page and it says I have no FTs left but doesn't mention the -4 pts hit. When I hover over the FT icon it confirm I have made 2 transfers.

      Is this a glitch or just a Saturday thing?

        It only shows hits on the transfers page for the transfers that you are about to make, not for the ones that you have already completed.

            Ok but I just made a 'proposed' transfer and it comes up as -4 not -8.

              I would expect it to show -4 on the transfers page, but if you click Make Transfers then it should show -8 on the transfer confirmation page, followed by a warning that 8 points will be deducted from your total if you proceed with it.

        Taking into consideration the uncertainty around Costa, who is best to captain from these..

        A - Tadic
        B - Silva
        C - Fabregas
        D - Henderson
        E - ADM
        F - Welbeck
