The Weekend Team News

Stewart Downing returns to training for West Ham, though Sam Allardyce still has doubts over a handful of regulars. Jack Wilshere is out for three months with an ankle injury for Arsenal. Newcastle pair Fabricio Coloccini and Steven Taylor return to training but Tim Krul is doubtful. Saido Berahino is fit for West Brom after recovering from a minor hamstring problem, while Stoke are hit by a virus ahead of the trip to Liverpool.

Arsene Wenger has confirmed Jack Wilshere is set to be sidelined for three months after undergoing ankle surgery. Mikel Arteta is also ruled out for the Gunners, whilst Wojciech Szczesny has failed to train and Yaya Sanogo “has problems” with the hamstring injury that forced him off in midweek. Danny Welbeck is set for a fitness test later today on the knee problem that forced him to miss the win over Dortmund, though Theo Walcott remains sidelined with a groin problem.

Villa’s injury room remains packed ahead of their trip to Burnley. Paul Lambert has confirmed that Ron Vlaar, Philippe Senderos and Nathan Baker are all still absent due to injury.

Scott Arfield and Nathaniel Chalobah are both available for Burnley available for Burnley’s home encounter after recovering from a knock, though Sean Dyche is still without Sam Vokes and Matt Taylor as Villa roll up to Turf Moor. Michael Duff is rated “touch and go” after being forced off last week with a calf complaint.

Palace will be without the services of Damien Delaney for the next couple of matches. The central defender sustained a calf injury at home to Liverpool last time out and has an “outside chance” of making the Gameweek 15 clash with Spurs, according to Neil Warnock. The Palace boss has also confirmed Adrian Mariappa “might be out a little bit longer than Delaney” with the knee injury sustained in training last week.

Everton midfielder James McCarthy will be assessed after limping out of last night’s win over Wolfsburg with a recurrence of a hamstring injury. Aiden McGeady recovered from a weekend illness to play the full 90 minutes.

Hull are without frontman Abel Hernandez for the next two league encounters as he has returned to his native Uruguay for the birth of his child. Steve Bruce will welcome back Mo Diame, though, after the midfielder overcame the knee problem that forced him out of last week’s encounter with Spurs.

Marcos Rojo has returned to training for United, though it remains to be seen whether he’s fit enough to be considered this weekend after a recent shoulder injury.

Alan Pardew revealed Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Cheick Tiote and Emmanuel Riviere have all returned to training for Newcastle, those was somewhat coy on the quartet’s availability, saying “I don’t want to give too much away”. The Magpies manager is confident that young winger Rolando Aarons will be back next week and also confirmed Ryan Taylor is out for only three-to-four weeks after sustaining a slight knee problem last weekend. Tim Krul is a doubt for the trip to West Ham, however, after picking up a training ground knock.

After serving a three-match suspension, Rio Ferdinand will be assessed for QPR’s clash with Leicester. Harry Redknapp is hopeful the defender will be fit, though the Hoops boss ruled out Adel Taarabt once again, admitting “He’s still not fit and still not training”.

Mark Hughes has revealed Asmir Begovic, Geoff Cameron and Phil Bardsley have all picked up a virus that is sweeping through the Stoke camp. The Potters hope to have Marc Wilson and Erik Pieters back in time for their trip to Anfield after both missed out last week – Hughes went on to reveal that Wilson has returned to training, while Robert Huth is closing in on a return from a calf complaint.

Saido Berahino is in contention for West Brom after overcoming a “minor hamstring” problem according to Alan Irvine. The Baggies also has Sebastien Pocognoli back for the visit of Arsenal, while James Morrison is hoping to recover from illness.

Stewart Downing and Cheick Kouyate both returned to training for West Ham yesterday, Sam Allardyce has confirmed. The Hammers boss admitted he’s less positive on the other three players – Alex Song, Enner Valencia and Diafra Sakho – that missed out last weekend, though he reckons Mark Noble “might” be back in contention after being forced off in the 2-1 defeat at Goodison.

Remember when everyone thought Lukaku was Chelsea's answer to their striking problems?

      Krul*,
      Baines*, N. Taylor, Chambers,
      Sigurdsson, Di Maria, Sanchez, Downing*,
      Aguero, Diego Costa, Austin

      Subs: Mannone, Boyd, Clyne, Wisdom

      1 FT, £1.4m ITB.

Three doubtful players, and no backup goalkeeper. What to do?

        Your team's in good shape.

Just do Mannone --> Elliot/someone who rotates with Krul.

Clyne is a good autosub for Baines, and Boyd has a good fixture.

Transfer out Krul on a freebie as only McCarthy as back up?
Or maybe McCarthy out for Elliot?
Or just leave and accept no keeper if happens as two free transfers next gw be handy?

I would be looking to remove begovic, clyne and pelle>> fabianski, azpi, Austin.

That will give you some spare cash as well for upgrading your midfield a bit.... Keep an eye on chamberlain?

Tadic to downing (will free up cash.......

        Welbeck to Austin .........

Would that then leave u with enough to do pelle to aguero?

I wouldn't advise doing a -8 in one week for that, but it would be my aims if yor team was mine....

In a bit of a pickle with Chadli,Downing and three saints 🙁

Would Pelle + Bertrand + Chadli > Austin + Yun + ADM -8 be worth it?

Downing is fine I think keep him.

        What's your other saints player?

I would look to do pelle to Austin, and chadli to do Maria.

I'd bring in Austin personally. Better than either of those. Southampton have a difficult run of fixtures coming up, you want to be offloading their players, not drafting them in 🙂

      So my team is
      Hart - Heaton
      Clyne - Wisdom - N.Taylor - Cresswell - Schlupp
Fab -Siggy - ADM - Sancez - Downing
      Costa - Pelle - Kane
      1.2m in the bank

Were would your guy suggestions be for improvement for the Christmas period?
So i could bring Bony in with Navas (or other

Kane out for austin, hart out for fabianski. Frees up a lot of funds, will likely score a lot more points in the coming few weeks

My dear fellow - that frees up no money what so ever - it takes up an extra 0.1m to do such transfers

Freaking out boys. Don't see many strong options for transfers, but diame clearly needs to go (As do a fair few others)!

      Thoughts?

      Forster (Gilks)
      Clyne, Azpiliquetta, Naylor (Dummett, Moore)
      Sanchez, Fab, Siggy, Downing (Diame)
      Costa, Aguero, Pelle

      1 FT, 0 ITB

Any input would be much appreciated!

Downgrade Pelle and use the finds to upgrade Diame? 2 Saints at the back is also a risk for next 3 fixtures (though I wouldn't be surprised if they got at least 1 CS in the 3.)

Moore isn't being played - you could get a cheaper option in Yun (QPR) on the bench he is playing and they have some good fixtures

He's looking good at the moment, QPR got some decent fixtures coming up though they're poor overall defensively. Still at £3.9m he's a nice filler....

      Hi folks

Ok, need some help this week - suffering a major injury crisis. Went into last week with 6 yellow flags (-4 needed and still only got 10 out.) Now have 5 yellow flags this week. Lost the lead in my mini-league last week as well, though I'm only 1 point behind and have just stayed inside the top 10,000 overall.

      Team is:

      Forster - Krul (?inj)
Azpilicueta - Taylor - Baines (?inj) - Duff (?inj) - Moore (not played last 2 weeks)
Sanchez - Fabregas - Boyd - Chadli (?inj) - Davis (?inj)
      Aguero - Costa - Austin

£2.3m in bank, 0FT left this week (did Pelle to Austin at start of week before prices changed)

Happy to take -4 this week (my main rival has already), could go -8 if needed.

Plan is Davis to Siggy, that should at least get me 10 out again. Any other ideas? I'm not bothered about Krul - Forster might fluke a cleansheet and may rack up some save points. My concern is that I may only have 2 defenders play this week, but I'm not convinced it's worth it for what may ultimately end up a net -2 points (would have to go Moore to Hutton if going with Davis to Siggy.) Baines or Duff may also make it in which case I can field 11...

      Thanks in advance 🙂

      Begovic Mannone
      Chambers Jagielka Clyne Duff Moore
      Downing Jedinak Sanchez Sigurdsson Fabregas
      Augero Costa Austin

      2.2 ITB

No free transfers remaining this week., Is Clyne to Taylor the logical trade next week? Swansea have an awesome run of fixtures or would I be better off doing Clyne to Azpilicueta.

Is it worth taking a 4 point hit for Naismith to Danny Ings? Because Naismith is both off form and injured.

      Thanks
