Scout Picks Community Champion Vote – Gameweek 16

As part of our revamped Scout Picks, Mark, myself, Paul and a community champion picked by you each week are up against each other. All four teams are then used to decide our final weekly Scout Picks.

We are now looking for Gameweek 16’s Scout Picks Community Champion to represent you and get one over on The Scouts as well as be in with a chance of winning a special prize. The champion who manages the best Gameweek score (or best score from the first ten matches in a double Gameweek) will win a £100 Amazon voucher.

To put yourself forward simply add in your Gameweek 16 Scout Picks and short 200 word/bullet point explanation for your picks here. For everyone else please upvote the poster you would like to represent you based on their picks.

We only need 11 picks and please be mindful of budget. We are sticking to a budget of 83.5m. There’s no captain in the picks either and please stick to a designated FPL formation, including no more than three players from one team.

I’ll leave this vote for 24 hours and come back at 10am tomorrow (Tuesday) to find out who is the community’s choice. Please note that due to the fast turnaround of Gameweeks any submissions will be forwarded straight over to Paul for the Scout Picks article on Tuesday morning so it is vitally important that you include your reasons for your picks.

If you need to make any minor tweaks based on injury please email me at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

Any attempts to disrupt the voting process may lead to the team involved being removed at our discretion. Also the comment section below is for those who want to present their teams and vote. If you have any suggestions on how the Scout Picks can be improved further next year please email me rather than leave a comment below.

I would love to represent the community. Here is my picks within the 83.5 budget with commentary below.

I have gone for Foster between the sticks who faces a Villa side that has failed to score in 50% of their away fixtures. Azpilicueta is my route into the Chelsea defence for their home clash against Hull. Clichy should continue at LB with Kolarov not having returned from injury yet, and Yoshida should get the nod at CB for the league’s best defence with injury concerns over Alderweireld and Schneiderlin.

Hazard has scored in his last 4 home fixtures and Sanchez, rested for the midweek champions league game, faces an injury hit Newcastle side at home. Yaya Toure should be pushed into a more advanced position in Aguero’s absence and now has set pieces. Downing was a constant threat against Swansea, creating 5 chances, and has a proven away record this season.
I am backing Costa to return to his goal scoring form against Chelsea, and also for Dzeko and Sakho to return to their respective starting line ups for prime away fixtures. Dzeko enjoyed a great run of form last season when Aguero was injured and Sakho was unlucky to come away with only one goal against Swansea on his return to fitness.

    Courtois (6.0)
    Baines(7.3), Bertrand (5.6), Wisdom (4.3)
    Yaya (10.7), Sanchez (11.2), Hazard (10.4), Walters (5.2)
    Lukaku (9.0), Sakho (5.7), Welbeck(7.2)

    82.6m

    ---
Based on some stats from the past 4 gameweeks, here's some reasoning:

Hull have been truly lackluster, with the lowest amounts of goal attempts. Guaranteed Chelsea CS.
Baines against a Austin-less QPR, clean sheet could be in the bank. QPR is also the team conceding the second most crosses on their right flank, Baines should profit from that. Burnley is that team conceding the most crosses from their right flank, Bertrand over Clyne. FFS favourite Andre Wisdom will be allowed to roam the Villa left flank (most crosses conceded)

Leicester tops the fouls conceded chart, Yaya could get a penalty and is also the main man at CIty with Aguero out. A injury plagued Newcastle defence will be hurt by Sanchez. Hazard will terrorize Hull. Palace have the second most fouls conceded, I fancy a cheeky Walter penalty.

QPR concede a lot of shots in the box, Lukaku should score. Sakho is back in form against Sunderland. And Welbeck will also benefit against Newcastle.

First time doing this and here is my motly crew

    Heaton

    Baines Azpi Wisdom

    Hazard Yaya Downing Bolasie

    Rooney Costa Carroll

    Total cost is 83.2

    Rationale:

There are limited CS options in the budget bracket this week and I wanted to invest in attack. I think Heaton has the best chance of a CS against a Southampton side worryingly out of form. Some save points may also be up for grabs here.

I cant see QPR scoring at Everton with Austin out and his attacking potential means that Baines picks himself. Wisdom has a chance of a cs against a goal shy Aston Villa and his budget friendly price tag allows me to invest elsewhere. Azpi obviously has good cs and BAPS potential.

In midfield, Yaya and Hazard are now the main sparks in teams that have lost Aguero and Fabregas respectively, plus they both have plum fixtures. Bolasie is my flair pick for this week, not only for THAT skill (insane tekkers), as I think his style and speed will cause problems to a Stoke defense who aren't the most mobile (wouldn't be surprised to see ShawX red this week) and don't like away days. Downing gets the last spot in midfield. His delivery will be key to West Ham's game plan and he has some size-able targets to aim for!

Up top, I fancy Rooney to run riot against a woeful Liverpool defense. Diego Costa is the captain of many teams this week and I can look past him this week either. With confidence high and being the focal point of attack, Andy Carroll has both goal and assist potential against a below par Sunderland defense.

    Any votes appreciated

    Pantilimon (WHU)
Azpilicueta (HUL) - Baines (QPR) - Coleman (QPR)
Hazard (HUL) - Ramsey (NEW) - Downing (sun) - Walters (cry)
Costa (HUL) - Bony (TOT) - Lukaku (QPR)

Averaging almost 6 PPG over his last 5 games, Pantilimon is my GK of choice this week. Making 6 saves in each of his last two home games, save points are likely even if he doesn't manage to keep a clean sheet.

In defence, Azpi is a no brainer. With a very favourable home tie against Hull, the BPS magnet is a great option for this week. Joining him at the back is the attacking duo of Baines and Coleman. The marauding fullbacks host a QPR side who are without their main striker and have only found the back of the net twice on their travels this season.

Eden Hazard is the standout in my midfield, his home form and strong fixture earn him a spot in my team. After scoring a goal against Stoke , Ramsey's confidence will be high. The Welshman looks hungry and will be eager to build on his heroics of last week. Downing is another man high on confidence - he monopolises West Ham's set pieces and with the likes of Carroll and Sakho leading the line, he'll be looking to add to his impressive tally of 6 assists this season. I'm giving Walters the chance to impress this week as he travels to Selhurst Park to face a Crystal Palace side that lost to Aston Villa in their last home game. Walters' 3 goals and 1 assist over the last month is impressive.

Unsurprisingly, Diego Costa finds himself in my squad - he'll be determined to get his scoring boots back on, and a home fixture with Hull is the perfect opportunity for him to do just that. Bony also earns himself a spot after several impressive performances lately. Last but not least, Lukaku is my final pick as he faces QPR at home who have conceded 17 goals in their 7 away matches this season.

    My team for GW16 is.

    Forster,
    Baines, Terry, Zabaleta,
    Sanchez, Hazard, Mirallas, Nasri,
    Costa, Dzeko, Sakho.

    *Total value = 78.4 m.

    * In goal, I have Forster. Have had three bad fixtures in a row, should have kept a CS against Arsenal, and Burnley don't score many.

*That's one heavy defence. Chelsea, City and Everton all have tremendous fixtures this week, all against the bottom five. Baines and Zabaleta have been always very attacking, and Terry has been unlucky not to score any this season. Would be surprised if I see zero goals from this trio this week.

*Two of the four pick themselves. Hazard and Sanchez have cozy home fixtures, and both continue to be in form. Mirallas has a lot of set-pieces, and scores goals. My last pick is the only kind of 'differential'. With Aguero out, I can see more responsibility in the midfield's hands, and you can't expect Yaya to get his penalty every week. Nasri is very creative, and this could be the week he sparkles into form.

*Costa, despite his indifferent form, is a must-have for the week. Hull at home does sound like his kind of fixture for a massive haul. Dzeko is the logical Kun replacement, fit to play as a lone striker, and could replicate him last year's post-Aguero-injury form. As for Sakho, he never really stopped scoring. The Sunderland defence is kind of resilient, and you would bank on his headers to break that.

Cheers, all. Please award me with an upvote if you like those picks.

Would love to represent the community, here is my picks:

    Foster (Villa H)

Baines (qpr H) Azpi (Hull H) Dawson (Villa H)

Hazard (Hull H) Sanchez (Newcastle H) Mirallas (qpr H) Siggy (Spurs H)

Costa (Hull H) Dzeko (Leicester A) Sakho (sunderland A)

    83,3 value

Baines and azpi are stand out options with good defensive and offensive oppurtunities this weekend against poor opposition. Baines on pens an set pieces to. I`m doubling up on Bromich against Villa who don`t have much goal treat, and Dawson could easily give me offensive point on corners/set pieces, and Foster could get save points as well.

Hazard and Sanchez speak for themselves with Hull and Newcastle coming to visit, Hazard also on pens, and Sanchez With 7 goals in the last 8 matches. The goal treat of Siggy and Mirralas home against Spurs and Qpr is just to good to ignore. Siggy will probably punish his old team and show them he needs to play the number 10 role, and Mirralas has set pieces plus form in his locker.

Costa against Hull should be goals for the Spaniard who probably will be rested in the CL midweek, and Dzeko will replace Aguero against a leaky Leicester defense, With City also looking more offensive and hit good form lately, the Bosnian should be on the end of lots of attacks. With Sakho (6 goals+2 assist 692 minutees) completing a lethal front line.

This team combines lots of goal treat with good chance for defensive points as well.
    Hope you like it!

Here we go again, off down the road again ... :

    Doosra’s Scout Challenge XI(GW 16)

    Heaton(SOT)4.5
    Ward(STO)4.7, Ivanovic(HUL)7.1, Coleman(QPR)6.9
    Downing(sun)6.1, Touré(lei)10.7, Hazard(HUL)10.4, Bolasie(STO)5.5
    Lukaku(QPR)9.0, Sakho(sun)5.7, Costa(NEW)11.0 … 82.2

Heaton is joint leader of the save count over the last six weeks, and Saint's form has collapsed - http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/1151/, so I am hopeful here.

Crystal Palace have the most improved defensive form - http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/1285/, so it must be time to give Ward a run-out! Ivanovic's attacking form is creeping up to the green zone again, with Coeman not far behind: http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/1026/

Downing's form is immaculate, both on chances created, and on successful crosses: http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/5595/, While Yaya Touré is once again soaring to the heights that only he can achieve: http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/1373/. Take note of fourth on that list - he is my fourth midfielder pick! Hazard is at HOME again ...

Lukaku and Costa are near the top of my Deadly Assassins table - http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/939/, while Diafra Sakho is the hottest stuff around, at the moment!

I do hope that you all like these, and please feel free to:

      Explantation 😛

Although it's derby, Foster should get CS.

All of my 3 defenders got nice fixture and all of them have attacking treat. Kolarov will explode vs Leicester IMO and I will captain Baines in my team.

Sanchez is in good form and Newcastle are missing some defence and GK options. Hazard is very good at home, while Downing is better away. Walter can be nice punt and against Palace.

Rooney picks himself as it's Pool defence. Lukaku same. Dzeko will be 1st striker now.

    My scout picks;

    Pantilimon

    Azpilicueta Distin Clichy

    Hazard Sigurdsson Bolasie Sanchez

    Costa Lukaku Dzeko

Three Chelsea players at home to Hull. Man City and Everton covered at both ends of the pitch for their favourable fixtures. Pantilimon at home for a solid looking Sunderland should at least be good for saves. Sigurdsson at home against his former club with a point to prove, Bolasie to take his good form into a home clash with Stoke and Sanchez to represent Arsenal in a traditionally high scoring affair at home to Newcastle.

    Thanks for looking.

Here we go guys - hope you like what you see!

    Guzan

    Coleman Terry O'Brien

    Yaya Hazard Cazorla Milner

    Rooney Bony Dzeko

    GK
Guzan (wba) has a superb chance of keeping a clean sheet against an underwhelming West Brom who are missing one of their key players, Brunt, through injury. Vlaar and Senderos are set to return in defence for Villa which also gives Guzan clean sheet assurance.

    DEF
Coleman (QPR) similarly to Guzan is facing a side missing their key man, this time Austin. I was swayed to Coleman because Baines has struggled since Mirallas' arrival and also because he played in an extremely advanced position last week.

Terry (HULL) is facing a lacklustre Hull side who present the ideal opportunity for Chelsea to bounce back from defeat. Azpi appears to be the obvious choice, however, rightly or wrongly I fear rotation this week and so have opted for Terry.

O'Brien (sun) - who? I hear you ask! With Jenkinson injured O'Brien fills in. He is cheap at 4.2 and will be playing for a West Ham team high on confidence. With Song now back in the side I believe a clean sheet is a strong possibility.

    MID
Yaya (lec) - facing one of the poorest sides in the league, is on pens, and likely to be more advanced with Aguero injured fills me with confidence.

Hazard (HULL) thrives in these sort of games and similarly to Yaya I consider him a must have for this week.

Cazorla (NEW) has returned reasonably well in his last 3 games (8, 3, 8) despite Arsenal performing badly and is pulling the strings in the Arsenal attack. A likely penalty taker also given Arteta's injury.

Milner (lec) has had decent game time recently and I consider him an absolute steal at 5.3m. Currently in good form and with an easy fixture is enough for me to select him.

    FWD
Rooney (LIV) faces a Liverpool team known for their defensive frailties and with Van Gaal commenting on Falcao's poor fitness it is expected that Rooney plays in an advanced role.

Bony (TOT) has scored 3, assisted 1 and hit the post 3 times in his last 4 games. He is performing exceptionally well and is against a Tottenham team who has struggled to field a consistent back 4 all season and as such has the tendency to offer opposition strikers a plethora of opportunities.

Dzeko (lec) has consistently stepped up to the mark when Aguero has been previously injured and I expect no difference this time. He faces a defensively naive Leicester (see Hutton's goal in their most recent loss) so I feel that Dzeko's smart movement in the box will be too much for Leicester to cope with.

    Thanks for reading fellas 🙂

I'm gonna have another go at it.

    Hart

    Baines Bertrand Azpi

    Hazard Yaya Milner Downing

    Sakho Lukaku Costa

    Total: 83.2

    Hart: Great CS potential.

Baines,Azpi,Bertrand: All have great CS potential, offer attacking threat and/or are BAPs magnets. Soton's form doesn't worry me when the opposition is burnley. Remember they played City and Arsenal in the last 2 so CSs were not expected.

Hazard: The outstanding captain choice for most at home. 4 consecutive big hauls at home and with Hull visiting, you can expect a 5th one.

Yaya: Plays leceister, finally starting to hit form and now on penalties after Kun's injury.

Milner: A punt that could work with Dzeko expected to start. Milner's crossing suits Dzeko's style as he is a good header and could benefit from them. Milner has been in good form also.

Downing and Sakho: Westham just can't stop scoring now. Sakho back with a bang and Downing central to everything they create.

Costa: I am backing him to score in a easy home game.

Lukaku: In great form and plays QPR who are terrible away from home.

    Ok I'll give this a go this week. Here it is;

    Howard
    Baines Azpi Hutton
    Downing Hazard Sanchez Yaya
    Sakho Bony Benteke

At the back I think that clean sheets might be at a premium this week. Everton at home to QPR without Charlie Austin seems as good a bet as any so I've gone for Howard in goals and doubled with Baines to add his potential attacking returns. Chelsea also have a great home fixture and Azpilicueta has offered the best route in to the chelsea defence with bonus potential. Alan Hutton offers a budget option of potential attacking returns in a decent fixture.

In midfield I've gone for three heavy hitters all with good looking fixtures. Hazard (HUL) and Yaya (lei) offer great potential returns with the bonus of also being on pens. Sanchez at home to anyone is always worth a shout and against a Newcastle defence constantly being changed around and with a rookie keeper there is every chance of a return. Downing gets in due to his good away form, set pieces and the form of west hams strikers to take advantage of his service.

Up front, Sakho has an incredible ppg ratio and is playing in a team full of confidence. Benteke has looked good on his return to the villa team with good underlying stats up against a porous west brom defence. Finally Wilfred bony might well be the form striker in the league now that Aguero is injured and a home match is always likely to produce returns for him.

Right, here goes, my shot at beating the scouts:

    Foster (AVL)
Distin (QPR), Azpi (HUL), Reid (sun)
Yaya (lei), Hazard (HUL), Mirallas (QPR), Bolasie (STK)
Lukaku (QPR), Costa (HUL), Bony (TOT)

    83.3m

Guzan in what should be a tight Birmingham derby, with both teams goal-shy.
Dustin against a QPR side who will be short on firepower without Austin, Azpilicueta against a Hull side struggling for goals.
Hazard and Costa also up against Hull, expecting a backlash after their first loss of the season.
Yaya away to a poor Leicester side, with penalties in his locker.
Bolasie has looked very dangerous without a huge amount of end product, but I'm backing him to change that this week against Stoke.
Mirallas and Lukaku facing QPR at home looks tasty.
Bony in good form and with a home fixture against a shaky looking Spurs defence that faces Europa league action before heading to Swansea.

Baines : potential for clean sheets + goals , assists and pens

Azpi : Chelsea vs Hull looks like clean sheet potential this week

Hutton : Scored last week and West Brom have been poor going forward of late . Berinho is off form and he is the main man

Bolaise : Produced very very impressive stats last week , see big numbers and I think he will deliver he is in my team

Oscar : Very solid numbers has the potential to score and Hazard is too expensive

Nasri : If in doubt look at big numbers article so many chances created last week and Yaya is too expensive

Dzeko : Off form but very explosive and Nasri and Dzeko is better than just Yaya imo

Costa : the main man at Chelsea his form is just a blip at the min and has a great chance vs Hull

Lukaku : Everton's main striker and is on form

    Pantilimon (4.4)

    Baines (7.3), Azpilicueta (6.1), Clyne (5.8)

    Hazard (10.4), Yaya Toure (10.7), Sigurdsson (7.0), Bolasie (5.5)

    Diego Costa (11.0), Sakho (5.7), Lukaku (9.0)

Pantilimon: Sunderland have been impressive defensively lately, frustrating teams like Liverpool and Chelsea (it is of course impossible to stop Aguero.) Even after West Ham's recent result I expect this trend to continue.

Baines: Whilst it is unfortunate that his output over the last few gameweeks has dwindled, a plum home fixture against QPR gives him the opportunity to show just how important he is.

Azpilicueta: Although Chelsea managed to concede twice away at Newcastle, I consider this to be a momentary blip on an otherwise solid defence. Hull have struggled to score goals all season, and I don't expect their luck to change when they roll up to the Bridge this weekend.

Clyne: Southampton have been suprising us all this season with their outstanding defensive performances. I'm expecting a shut-out against a Burnley side who haven't exactly been free scoring lately.

Yaya Toure: The Ivorian giant now has the added responsibility of penalties, and faces a Leicester side struggling at the bottom of the table.

Sigurdsson: Gylfi at home faces his old Spurs side, who barely managed to keep Crystal Palace out the previous week. Expecting him to come up with the goods.

Bolasie: The tricky wide man for Palace, he has been a nightmare for defenders to deal with over the past few weeks.

Hazard: Hazard's home form has been exceptional and I expect returns from him again this week.

Diego Costa: Kept out at Newcastle, many are tiring of having such a pricey striker not returning points regularly. However I do believe that he will score this weekend as his underlying stats have remained strong.

Sakho: Impressed for the 45 mins he played against Villa.

Lukaku: Expecting goals against a porous QPR backline.

And we have a winner. Congratulations Dusan Citizen - if you can get your full explanation (no more than 200 words) plus your final selection - based on injury changes over to me by 5pm on Thursday that'd be great.
