Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 32

We take our usual Sunday evening look at the weekend’s new injuries now, with Chelsea’s concerns up front increasing after Loic Remy picked up a muscle problem in training yesterday.

Aston Villa
The injury worries continued in defence for Tim Sherwood after Ciaran Clark was forced off early on in the 1-0 win over Spurs. Sherwood is also sweating over the fitness of Gabby Agbonlahor up front, after the forward was also replaced at White Hart Lane. After the match, the Villa manager admitted the pair are likely to miss next weekend’s semi-final with Liverpool:

“Ciaran has come off with a knee ligament injury. He’s not had it before. It’s the first time this season we’ve had to name an unchanged team so it’s something we’re getting used to. Gabby’s tweaked his hamstring. It looks like (they will miss Sunday). It’s a real shame as it’s a massive day out.”

Chelsea
Loic Remy missed today’s trip to QPR after sustaining a muscle injury in training yesterday, Jose Mourinho has confirmed:

“Remy got a kick in training and the muscle is sore. We never cry or complain, we just trust the people on the pitch”

After the 1-0 win, the Blues boss was optimistic that the Frenchman will be back in time for next week’s home clash with United:

“Remy has a small injury. I think he should be available for the next game.”

Crystal Palace
Left-back Pape Souare was forced off early in the 4-1 win over Sunderland due to injury.

Everton
Leon Osman is set to be assessed after sustaining a groin injury during the Toffees’ 1-1 draw at Swansea yesterday lunchtime.

Manchester City
Reports suggest Vincent Kompany was withdrawn at half-time due to a thigh complaint in City’s loss at Old Trafford.

Manchester United
Michael Carrick was forced off towards the end of this afternoon’s derby win over City, with his withdrawal leaving the hosts with just ten men. Post-match, Louis van Gaal revealed:

“At the end, Michael Carrick needed to be changed but I could not substitute him. He was very wise to step out of the game with my permission. I hope he is not injured.”

QPR
Armand Traore was initially named amongst the subs today but withdrew from the squad after sustaining a knock during the pre-match warm-up.

Stoke
Victor Moses and Marc Wilson were both replaced during the Potters’ weekend draw at West Ham, with Mark Hughes confirming post-match:

“It looks like Victor has pulled his hamstring. It looks like it is in a strange position as it seems to be right behind his knee, which isn’t the normal position you usually get hamstring injuries. We will get it checked, it may be something that isn’t to do with the hamstring so it could be that we get good news. If it is a hamstring, then it could be that we lose him for a few weeks…Marc got a bang right on his hip, fair play to him he tried to go out for the second half and see if he could make it work. Sadly he couldn’t loosen it off and had to be forced off unfortunately.”

Swansea
Bafetimbi Gomis lasted just 17 minutes of Saturday’s early kick-off against Everton before limping off with a hamstring problem, Garry Monk has confirmed:

“Bafe felt a tightening of his hamstring. He will have a scan. Hopefully it’s not too serious because we don’t want to lose his quality, and we’re already quite thin on the ground.”

Fellow forward Nelson Oliveira missed out with a twisted ankle sustained in training.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce’s options up front could be somewhat limited heading into the weekend trip to City after both Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia picked up injuries in the weekend draw with Stoke. Post-match, the Hammers boss confirmed:

“Enner was never going to be able to play the full 90 minutes, but he got a kick as well and we’re hoping it won’t be enough to keep him out for next week, because Diafra will definitely be missing. If it’s a thigh strain, depending on what grade it is, it could two weeks or it could be him missing the rest of this season, but we will wait and see. That leaves us very short on the front line with Andy being out, and means goals will be fewer and farther between than they used to be, so if we don’t get that defensive side right then the last six games are going to be tough for us.”

"If he’s physically fit to perform, that’s what’s important to me. Then it’s a case of how we think he can be best used, whether that’s from the start or coming off the bench, until he’s super-fit.”

Not the most encouraging words for Sturridge owners.

Yep...but he's an option if BR is feeling brave. He likes him for sure. Sterling and Balo seem to have a bit of a mental block when played up top now..There's more chance of Sterling notching from wing back than CF...

I want Pellegrini to leave City because I actually think he's fairly capable but there's much more going on behind the scenes imo. Transfers being decided by other people, players like Yaya not arsed etc. Yeah, he deserves his part in the blame with some of his team selections/formations but I was nervous looking at that City side today when they had swapped to having a lone striker, and still they were mostly ineffective and lethargic.

Shocking performance Somalion. I took a bit of stick earlier for decrying Aguero and Silva and co...They are the best in the league going forward but the lethargy to track back is shocking.

It all smacks of an unhappy crew.

Wanting to win 5-0 is great..but when the chips are down and it isn't going well then they have to dig in. Half of that team simply don't want to do that part of the game. And I include Yaya, Aguero and Silva in that....along with Nasri and a few others....

I remember years ago Alex Ferguson speaking to a young lad on the training ground on TV who was quick to ask him how he thought he'd played....and he was good...Fergie replied "I don't want to see how good you are when you're winning I want to see how good you are when you aren't".....Right there is the City problem when they play bigger teams sometimes.

I agree with you but that's about the faith the club have in the manager imo. You can't expect a strong leader if you don't even let him completely run his team, I know he signed the contract so isn't entirely free of blame in that but they can't expect much else is my thinking.

As for Yaya, I agree though it is very hard to bench Yaya Toure. In fact, I couldn't guarantee that certain people haven't already discouraged the management from doing it.

Somethings up for sure. It's not that the players lack quality, they just aren't bothered. that has to come down to the manager in part too. you would never see a mourinho team not putting in the effort. Especially over such a long time period. I think they've lost 5 or 6 away games in a row, which is ridiculous for a side with those players and those wages.

I agree. Sure that 2nd goal, I know the game was in the dying minutes but there was no rush to get the ball back and get the game going again. They kinda just jogged away, thought that was a bit shocking myself. And you're right, it is ludicrous.

If Ibe were to play both DGW games that would be amazing. 4.4m doesn't hold up funds so it would save having to rid him afterwards. With liverpool points so spread he's no worse an option than sterling.

Adrian Charles is a regular at my pub. He knows I play FPL and actually visits this site. He asked me how my team was going and I told him I benched Aguero for Dawson. He laughed for no less than ten seconds right in my face. I said I knew it might be a mistake. And he chuckled, "well yeah, he just got two". He pointed at me slammed his hands on the bar and changed his order from his regular alcohol free Becks to a pint of Peroni and bought me a drink. For the next hour he was talking to his mates and pointing at me and laughing.

The funniest bit was when I told him about my cricket league and he said " you're getting sacked in the morning". I responded with "maybe, but too late for you".
                Ha

      has to be bolasie

      puncheon second

i'm not sure their mids are the way to go though

Ok how come? If u had to buy a mid for next GW who would it be? Have 5.8m to spend

        1. Coaly
          • 11 Years
          9 years, 19 days ago

Because it's a lottery. Murray is a safer pick to give yourself the best chance of a share of their attacking points.

If you must though and only have 5.8, then Bolasie

Leaning towards Bolasie. Mané probably won't start. And Dawson is my backup - he'll probably end on -2.

Need to make a couple of switches here.
    Myhill,
    Ivanovich, Clyne, Rose
    Siggy, Silva, Hazard, Eriksen
    Aguero, Kane, Giroud**

    Subs- Fabianski, Boyd, PVA**, Naughton**
    2ft's and a WC -GW 34.
    2.4m in account.

Murray for Giroud and 1 more transfer I think.
    Bolasie- Boyd or
    Baines - Rose

Just need a couple of good 1 Week Punts..

    Panti/Foster

    Terry/Clyne/Aldeweireld/Wollscheid/Hutton

    Hazard/silva/eriksen/siggy/boyd

    Aguero/Remy/Kane

GW33 - Save and play no GK this week
GW34 - Foster to Mignolet/ Eriksen to Henderson and Kane- Sturridge for a -4?

    Or

    GW33 - Foster to Myhill
    GW34 - Eriksen to Henderson and Kane-Sturridge for a -4?

    Which one is best??

    Hazard, Sanchez, Eriksen, Sterling, Boyd
    Aguero, Giroud, Kane
