The Numbers Game – 2014/15 Review – Tottenham Hotspur

Despite guiding Tottenham to a sixth place slot in 2013/14 after replacing Andre Villas-Boas as the Tottenham manager, Tim Sherwood wasn’t offered the Spurs job on a permanent basis, with chairman Daniel Levy instead opting for Southampton’s Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine arrived at White Hart Lane having led the Saints to an eighth place finish, and immediately went about adding to his squad, with Ben Davies, Michel Vorm, Federico Fazio, Eric Dier and Benjamin Stambouli all joining during the summer transfer window. There were plenty of departures too, with Michael Dawson, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Sandro among the big names to leave.

In this members article, we take an in-depth look at Pochettino’s first season in charge, analysing the main goal threats and creators as Tottenham recorded a fifth place finish in the Premier League.

Bib theory *may* not exist for Liverpool anymore, or be as accurate. Green bibs, white bibs and no bibs. First team players in all 3 bibs. BR was saying he didn't want team news to be leaked, nd bib theory was key to this. Who knows.

    Hows my team looking?

    Myhill
    Koscielny
    Mings
    Huth
    Walcott
    Hazard
    Henderson
    Chadli
    Aguero
    Rooney
    Wilson

    subs hennesey, s taylor, surman,angella

it gives me room to downgrade rooney for a 7.5 mid striker and upgrade walcott to sanchez when the time comes. All dependant on Aguero starting too of course.

      I like...

Will Aguero start the first game though???

Defence/GK is slightly on the weak side - maybe downgrade Aguero to Costa and upgrade to a chelsea defender?

Also Walcott could smash it or be on the bench???

Considering I have Aguero, Hazard and Rooney, I quite like this:

    Ruddy - Rudd

    Azpilicueta - Francis - O'Shea - Prodl - Huth

    Hazard - Ozil - Milner - Chadli - Surman

    Aguero - Rooney - Wilson

    Thoughts?

Repost for the new article that appeared like magic as soon as I did this:

How about Steven Fletcher, at 5m, for a 3rd striker?

With Wickham & Graham both currently out with knocks, he should start against Leicester. He's also started the last 4 preseason games (alongside Defoe, who is slightly pricier at 5.5m). Sunderland have great opening fixtures so attacking returns are not out of the question.

I wouldn't expect too much from him, but to me he does look the best option in that price bracket right now (especially as Jerome is a slight doubt for his opening game).

It is very easy to make an argument for one of each. Has Rooney done that much preseason playing in that position? I don't think he has scored has he. But on the other side I am finding all the mids so much more appealing than the forward options.

A case to avoid ARS defence for the first 3 weeks?

    1) WHU
    - only 1 CS in the last 3 in this fixture (meh)
    - our attacking play, plus the pace of Sakho and vision of Payet

    2) cpl
    - 1 CS in the last 2 in this fixture (ok)
    - CPL are an attacking side with a great new addition in Cabaye

    3) LIV
    - only 1 CS in the last 4 in this fixture (bad)
    - top 6 side with a big threat in Benteke (we struggle with crosses)

I'm avoiding for the reasons you given, partly. Also because I think there's better value in players like Fonte.

Yeah, this is a good point. He will make a big difference. The United fixtures just look so much better (TOT, avl, NEW) - can see 3 CS there.

Yep, if a choice given then I would chose United for first 3 GW, but if planning for 7-8 weeks then Arsenal.

          So are GW4WCing?

Yep, that's the plan. With my current setup I can only afford 2 from ARS/MUN/CHE defence, i.e. 2 from Azpi, Kos/Mert, Shaw

Interesting... I'll be keeping Koscielny in the long term but I think the addition of Cech will be brilliant for Arsenal.

I feel like Arsenal will have a top 2 defense this year though. They should be able to get at least 1 CS out of those 3 games.

for the price you want 2 out of 3 or 3 out of 3 cs

I think they will get 2
