Claude Puel is ripping up the expected goals rulebook. According to that particular statistic, Leicester have no right to have scored 15 goals over the Frenchman’s eight matches in charge. But when you have a revived Riyad Mahrez in your starting XI, statistics and logic can be thrown out of the window.

The Algerian is back to his mesmeric best, producing three goals and an assist over his last four Gameweeks which has seen his ownership boosted by almost 260,000 over that period.

Mahrez will be expected to deliver an instant dividend on that investment in the Gameweek’s early kick-off. He’ll face a Crystal Palace defence that is without Mamadou Sakho and midfielder Luka Milivojević to screen what remains.

Jamie Vardy could also emerge from the shadow of Mahrez and the in-form Shinji Okazaki to deliver.

The striker has just a single goal from his last seven Gameweeks but will look to expose the Eagles absentees today. As for Okazaki, surprisingly, he will be limited to minutes from the bench, despite scoring a brace and 16 points at Southampton in midweek. His ownership increased by more 126,000 ahead of today’s deadline.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What do you all reckon on Jay's -12.

For those who don't know, Jay is the current #1 FPL manager in the world (according to the Live HoF).

    https://fantasy.premierleague.com/a/team/175574/event/18

His massive hit has involved taking out Hennessey, Gross, Kane(!) and RLC for DDG, Silva, Bony (!) and Richarlison.

I'm still not convinced that DDG's points per match is going to be far stronger than Pope and Pickford over the coming GW's. Not to the tune of 1.1 million. Also, with Jones possibly back as a regular, there's another route available with bonus more likely.

true, never a fan of expensive goalkeepers and regression is probable with DDG (no doubt he's a great buy atm though). Jones I feel is the best option by a distance if staying fit...here lies the problem! But yeah, I have Fabianski as my only playing keeper but looking at Pickford and Jones myself as defensive transfers!

Brave. I like the Bony move, rotates well with DCL till GW22 when one of the two will be upgraded to Kane (Hazard downgraded to WHM mid). Essentially he's playing a 5 man midfield till then.

I agree with Mark (above), Jay was using the argument that DDG is cheaper than Kane and has the same number of points, but you could, as Mark points out, find even better value in goal - Pickford, Pope, Gomes (I hope!) could all do well. Jones might be the one to get with Bailly out.

Silva better than RLC, but with Spurs up next that move could have waited a week perhaps - needs Silva to score or assist to make up for the -4. Why not save 4 points and do that move after Spurs?

Richarlison over Groß - probably, but Brighton have a decent run of fixtures (Chelsea aside), so again not convinced a -4 is needed now.

Jay said he doesn't like to have money in the bank but does that mean you should spend for the sake of it?

He's a miles better manager than me though, I look forward to seeing how this pans out up to GW22.

Wow, as much as I don't like the Kane out move, I really like the RLC & Gross out moves! DDG + Silva + Richarlison, fantastic business but Bony...Christ that's not going to go too well I reckon! But overall, just shows what Kane out funds can do for a squad! Tough transfer that -12 so 6.5/10 atm but knowing Jay in a few week it will be 8.5/10 😉

LOL and I was considering leaving out Richarlison for DCL because the former seems to struggle a bit at home.

I was taking endless hits last season trying to jump on trend... total contrast to previous years and really didn’t work out where I’ve had top 1k finishes occasionally and top 10k this year avoiding hits and keeping faith with players.

But maybe that’s why I’m not number 1 in the world. Seems extreme to me and I don’t see how they are good long term picks (although less likely to be rotated over Christmas) to justify the hit. But again, maybe this is why he’s top, thinks differently. Maybe the FPL odds be in his favour!

was looking at taking something similar but worked out all I'm really trying to do is get DDG in. Not sure I agree with Mark that Pope or Pickford will match DDG over next run of fixtures + DDG's ownership is an issue. You're basically putting in a season keeper from probably the top defence. Not sure any Utd defender will play even 80% of the games until end of season.
Also interesting that basically he sees Bony as the best striker under 8.5m (inc cash itb)
other issue is how many points is going to cost Jay to get Kane back?

        Tres casual moves. 😉
Don't know where to start other than he's a mere mortal, we make our choices like holding off on Richarlison or percervering!! with Kane or RLC.
Hope it pays off, big move.

        That’s not a mammoth hit.

        Looks terrible to me.

Who is this hit really for? Silva? Richarlison? He could've got Silva next week. I would much rather have Kane than Silva this week. He benched Bony, so it wasn't for him. A hit for De Gea or Richarlison isn't worth it either. Funnily enough, Speroni got points who he benched for De Gea (-4) and sold RLC.

All of these moves could've waited a week at least. What was the hurry?

Im glad ive taken my first -8 ever with 4 transfers in the same gameweek as Jay.
After getting 32 points and dropping from 306,037 in gw 13 to 840,964 after gw 17, had to take some action.
        Worked out great so far.
Out Fernandinho Gross Morata Femenia, In Silva Sterling Crouch Kabasele.
Im so good at this game NOT!

still got 2 players to go this week.
Moves are designed for next 4 or 5 GWs not just this one.

even if DDG gets a clean sheet, he already had one with Speroni...that being said, it's still early days in his xmas strategy

I know he missed a pen today but Murray rotates well with DCL (i think) and Swansea dont score many im thinking of moving to 3-5-2 keeping Kane as the main striker and rotating DCL and Murray with a midfield of Richarlison, Salah, Hazard, Sane and one of Sterling or Silva. He's a far better FPL manager than me so it'll be interesting to see how it pans out

Jay is a fantastic player and head and shoulders above everyone on the planet at the moment but this move didn't work for him.

The players he took out scored more than who he brought in and when you factor in the hits he's down on the moves with Silva now a potential wasted hit if rumours are true.

He's got a fantastic score because of the players he already had, no doubts he's winning it this year but let's not pretend this was a genius move, bet if he had the chance to go back in time he wouldn't do these moves.

Yes, these moves do look crazy, but bloody hell, he's on 79 pts already with 2 more players to go! It's impressive enough to justify the hit-bravado.

Was surprised so many dived on Okazaki. I love him and I think Vardy is better with him in the team but Puel clearly prefers Gray for the way he wishes to play.
