The ScoutCast – Episode 157 – Hipsters

Three middle-aged beards collide to talk Fantasy Football. Hipsters? Sadly, as Jonty so rightly points out, we bear a closer resemblance to a trio of David Brents.

A clean-shaven Ryan joins us to complete the quartet and boost the credibility: the Kiwi contributor wakes fresh and ready for action to mull over the Gameweek gone, the week’s transfer bandwagons and to look forward to the weekend’s action.

Around those regulars, we brace ourselves for the latest bout of quizzing from you, the community. We tackle the potential of the Palace form guys and the unlikely contribution from Hull and Leicester, as we cast an early eye on the looming double Gameweek.

The ScoutCast was beamed out live on Wednesday via a Google Hangout and you can view the full video recording on the player below.

Alternatively, for the polished, low-fat audio version can be found via this link or the first player.

Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and Google Plus page to keep informed of when future ScoutCast hit the screen.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Swansea with no striker but a potentially open game against an attacking Leicester side.
Or a bad Spurs against a Newcastle side in their flip flops with no fans in the stadium.

Do Giroud -> Murray tonight to avoid 0.1m Giroud drop before my wildcard next week? Makes it a bit easier to get him back in in GW35 etc...

Don't get me wrong I agree there's logic in brining in players with something to fight for, it's just a bit scattergun with Leicester - they could score four and yet Vardy and Cambiasso still blank.

REPOST: Please object, if you wanna sace me from a fail--

With a WC in hand, many seem to face the dilemma to pick either YAYA or Bolasie for one week.

I'm not quite sure myself, so I looked at the stats:

Yaya had 17 attempts to Bolasies 10 over the last 6 games. Although maybe (considering his more defensive position) predictably he only took 5 from inside the box to Bolasies 7 in that time.

Yaya averagely played further up the pitch when City had two strikers in the last 6weeks (which will be expected vs West Ham who sit deep). This speaks for the Ivorian but

..after Bolasies amazing performance last GW, I cheked if he played as centrally and as close to goal once before this season, which he did in GW29, when he had another two assists (in a 3-1 vs QPR at home).

Both seem like good options (Lennon has horrible attacking stats, he rarely shoots and loses out in all aspects to the others) but with Bolasies move to a no10 role and proof that he is able to replicate his output in this position (3 goals and 3 assists in 2 games there) I advice to go with the Congo International. He's in form, playing for the inform team with an inform striker and squaring up is WBA, the team that has conceded 12 and therefore, the combined highest number of goals in the last 6 Gameweeks!

Also Palace have scored 14 (just one less than leading ManUnited) to Citys poor 9 in the last 6games, which also underlines Bolasies better chance to assist - also backed up by his 3 assists to the 0 that Yaya had and by his 11 created chances to Yaya's 7...

All of a sudden, I think, it's quite obvious which way to go.
Although I like to spend my money, Bolasie is the clear favourite to score and assist this coming GW

If I didn't have a WC, I'd be going for Bolasie, but Yaya is such a perfect one-week punt (in that sense that you wouldn't really want him for more than 1 week, but he could go mental.)

I think Yaya have shown he can go mental on a much more regular basis than Bolasie have.

Bolasie's haul seems a bit Walters-ish to me. You do what you like, though.

form over class for a one week punt though, imo. Both good options, probably not much in it. For me bolasie points out as a slightly better option.

Have been trying to void unnecessary hits recently but the lure of PVA, Mane & Giroud out Baines, Bolasie & Murray in has proved too much.

just think the pressures off Palace and they'll free-wheel to the end of the season. WBA struggling for motivation at the moment and leaking lots of goals.

Think thats the difference with an attacking mindset vs a defensive mindset at this stage of the season with not much on the line

If I was going for a Leicester striker it would be Nugent. Good form and on penalties.

      Newcastle fans are pretty clueless

Harassed Pardew out now they're trying to harass Ashley out and will end up in the championship

1FT, should I use it on:

    A) Erik > Bolasie
    B) Dawson > Baines

For this week only ( wildcarding next week) which would you rather have?

    a. Vertonghen and Barkley
    b. Baines and Mane

I've got Clyne on the bench.

Baines and Mane, but surely there are better options than Mane?

I've got Vert and Mane, but will only sell 1 of them.
        The question is, which one?!

In that case, can you not sell Mane for someone better? A Palace midfielder maybe?

            Already got Punch and Murray.

            Team is:

            Howard
            Vertonghen, Clichy, Terry
            Mane, silva, hazard, puncheon
            Aguero, kane, Murray
            (Clyne)

Got 1 more FT, and wildcarding next week.
Baines is the obvious choice, but the doubts over Mane are making me look elsewhere...

      Coleman and Lennon.

Ah, see the issue now. Probably Mane to Lennon for me, Newcastle are pretty toothless and Vertonghen has a fair chance of a clean sheet. Whereas Southampton really don't score many.

Lennon is a better option than Barkley in my opinion.

          I've posted my team above.
Do you still think I should get Lennon?
          Or buy Baines for Vertonghen?

Anyone considering getting Murray in just for this week and then get Remy to replace him? Remy is way better than Vardy to start the DGW IMO. Also I don't think getting Kane out to start both Remy and Vardy for the DGW isn't too sensible. Thoughts?

    B) Play with 11 and have 1 less DGW player next week.

Somebody remind me...Apart from being a cheating diver what was the problem with Ashley Young in the very early days of the season ?...I remember him doing really well pre season on the wing but then did he get played as a wing back whilst LVG tinkered ?...Have I remembered right ?
