Our Saturday morning ritual would not be complete without dropping in on our bookmaker friends for an assessment of their goalscoring and clean sheet odds.
Before we entertain Paddy Power’s current thinking, those without accounts should take time out to soak up another weekend of their big betting offers.
Paddy have prepared another four specials for new customers to cover the Gameweek, starting with the now customary accumulator bet. New accounts can gather huge odds of 30/1 on wins for Man City, Arsenal, Man United, Juventus and Barcelona over the weekend. This special also offers the opportunity to gain £300 in free bets when you bet £10 weekly.
Sunday will see Fantasy managers banking on returns for the likes of Graziano Pelle and Romelu Lukaku, and Paddy are offering the chance to spice things up further with a pair of specials. You can get 5/1 on an Everton victory over Sunderland (normal odds 1/2), plus another 5/1 on a Southampton win over south coast rivals, Bournemouth (normal odds 4/7).
Finally, on Monday night, you can get similar odds on a Spurs victory over basement dwellers Aston Villa – that’s 5/1 on a Spurs win at the Lane under lights (normal odds 4/9).
Be sure to check the teams and conditions on all those offers and, of course, we should state that all these specials are only available to those aged 18. If you’re going to wager, always gamble responsibly.
ANYTIME GOALSCORER ODDS – GAMEWEEK 11
Player | Team | Odds |
Bony | MCI | 1.83 |
Kane | TOT | 1.83 |
Iheanacho | MCI | 1.83 |
De Bruyne | MCI | 1.83 |
Lukaku | EVE | 1.83 |
Pelle | SOU | 1.83 |
Giroud | ARS | 2.00 |
Sanchez | ARS | 2.10 |
Sterling | MCI | 2.10 |
Costa | CHE | 2.37 |
Mane | SOU | 2.40 |
Martial | MUN | 2.40 |
Paddy have brought in Wilfried Bony’s odds overnight, now pricing him at 1.83 from his previous odds of 1.72. That levels the playing field at the top of the rankings, with the Manchester City striker sharing the summit with five other players.
Only two forwards notched more shots on target (four) in the last two rounds of fixtures than the Ivorian, who bagged a brace against Bournemouth in Gameweek 9. Manchester City’s opponents, Norwich, have shipped 11 goals in their previous four match-ups, ensuring that Kelechi Iheanacho and Kevin De Bruyne handed similar odds, while Raheem Sterling is also placed in the top ten, out at 2.10. Paddy’s reckoning on De Bruyne certainly reinforces his standing as the optimum captaincy candidate for the Gameweek.
Harry Kane also ranks alongside Bony and the City options. Having snapped his barren spell with a hat-trick last time out against the Cherries. No forward amassed more shots on target (12) than Spurs’ premier frontman over the last four Gameweeks, which bodes well for his attacking prospects at home to an Aston Villa outfit that conceded 10 goals in their last four road clashes.
Ahead of Everton’s home encounter against Sunderland, Romelu Lukaku is also tipped at 1.83 to score, despite back-to-back blanks. No team has surrendered more shots inside the box (103) than the Black Cats this term, which bodes well with an Everton victory, with profit for Lukaku.
Southampton play host to a Bournemouth side that’s fallen to consecutive 5-1 defeats, so it’s no surprise to see both Graziano Pelle and Sadio Mane feature in Paddy’s top ten. Pelle is another who is granted short odds of 1.83 on an anytime goal, having tallied three strikes in five league starts and netted in their midweek League Cup encounter, while Mane comes in at 2.40, sharing the Gameweek odds with Manchester United’s Anthony Martial.
Arsenal’s contingent of goal threats are placed further down the pecking order but still strongly fancied by Paddy. During the last four Gameweeks, the Gunners ranked top for goals (13), attempts (76), shots inside the box (60) and big chances (14), although injuries to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Theo Walcott and Aaron Ramsey will no doubt cause disruption ahead of their visit to Swansea City. Even so, Olivier Giroud’s odds are strong (2.00) and he leads the way, with Alexis Sanchez following on (2.10) as the second ranked midfielder in the top ten.
CLEAN SHEET ODDS – GAMEWEEK 11
Team | Odds |
Tottenham | 2.00 |
Manchester City | 2.00 |
Everton | 2.10 |
Southampton | 2.25 |
Manchester United | 2.40 |
Chelsea | 2.50 |
Arsenal | 2.62 |
Newcastle United | 2.87 |
Paddy can’t separate Tottenham and Manchester City at the top of the clean sheet odds rankings. No side has conceded fewer goals (four) in the previous six Gameweeks than Spurs, while City have failed to earn a shut-out in their last three home fixtures but will fancy their chances of stifling a Norwich outfit that drew a blank at home to West Brom last weekend.
Everton’s short odds (2.10) are a product of the fact that Sunderland have failed to net a solitary goal in their previous trio of away ties. Meanwhile, Southampton (2.25) host a Bournemouth attack that’s failed to register a single big chance in their last two outings.
Manchester United (2.40) face a road clash against an out-of-sorts Crystal Palace, who’ve drawn blanks in their of their previous six matches. While, Arsenal look good value out at 2.62, considering that they’ve chalked up five clean sheets in eight and the Swans scored in just three of the last six Gameweeks.
Chelsea’s odds have dropped from 2.72 to 2.50 overnight, as Paddy’s confidence in Jose Mourinho’s men increases. The Blues play host to a Liverpool side that’s carded just five goals in their last four outings. Finally, Newcastle United prop up the top ten: they have just one clean sheet to their name this term and have shipped 13 goals since Gameweek 7, yet are tipped at 2.87 ahead of Stoke’s visit to St James’ Park.
