Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 32 – Sunday

Wes Morgan grabs the only goal of the match as Leicester take a step nearer to the title with a fourth successive 1-0 win. Elsewhere, Anthony Martial leaps onto our double Gameweek radars by firing United to victory over Everton at Old Trafford.

Morgan wins it for Foxes

Leicester City stretched out their lead at the top to seven points by way of their fourth consecutive 1-0 win.

Wes Morgan did the damage for the hosts with his first goal of the campaign, latching onto Christian Fuchs’ cross. The latter now boasts four assists and has amassed the second-most bonus points (21) of any defender on the Fantasy market.

Although the Foxes lack a double Gameweek, they have now recorded shut-outs in seven of their previous eight home ties and remain at the King Power Stadium for two of the next three Gameweeks, encouraging investors in their defence to hold tight.

In the wake of his blank against Saints, Jamie Vardy has now failed to net in six successive starts, which will prompt a portion of his 54% ownership reinvest their funds in Romelu Lukaku before Everton’s back-to-back double Gameweeks.

As for Riyad Mahrez, his explosive potential (11 double-figure hauls) should deter many owners from maxing out on double Gameweek players.

Saints struggle on the road again

Southampton were stifled by the Foxes’ regimented defence and were only able to muster two shots on target throughout the encounter.

Ronald Koeman’s side have failed to score in three of their last five away matches and now hit the road in three of the next five Gameweeks, which includes trips to Everton and Spurs, in addition to a home encounter with Man City. Their lack of a double Gameweek and poor defensive record of late (nine goals conceded and zero clean sheets in six) render their squad a relative non-factor during the final stages of the season.

Martials notches United’s winner

Manchester United remain in the hunt for a Champions League berth as they carved out a third 1-0 victory in four outings.

Anthony Martial proved to be the difference between the two sides, bagging his third goal (Timothy Fosu-Mensah assist) in seven starts. Given that Wayne Rooney’s imminent return makes Marcus Rashford a rotation risk, the 7.6-priced Martial represents the choice route into the Red Devils’ attack for their mouth-watering double Gameweek (AVL & CRY).

Man United’s tenth home clean sheet of the campaign underlined the merits of targeting their defence during the double. On that note, both Daley Blind (fatigue) and Marco Rojo (jet-lag) were subbed off at Old Trafford, highlighting the fact that Chris Smalling and David De Gea are the safest options for Gameweek 33 wildcarders.

Out-of-sorts Toffees fail to impress

Everton suffered their third straight defeat and have now tasted victory just once since Gameweek 26.

Romelu Lukaku had an afternoon to forget against Louis van Gaal’s charges, mustering a solitary off-target attempt. Nonetheless, the Belgian marksman is sure to be one of the most popular pick-ups ahead of the Toffees’ aforementioned successive doubles in Gameweek 33 (wat &cry) and Gameweek 34 (SOU & liv) – indeed, he already ranks top for “transfers in” (62,000) at the time of writing.

For those eyeing up the Toffees midfielders, Aaron Lennon (5.6) was intriguingly handed a central support role behind Lukaku as Gerard Deulofeu started on the right wing. Lennon then switched back to the flank after the young Spaniard was withdrawn just after the hour mark.

Roberto Martinez switched things up at the back, benching Ramiro Funes Mori to facilitate John Stones’ reinstatement in a four-man defence. In terms of tapping into Everton’s backline potential, goalkeeper Joel Robles (4.3) is the standout pick by virtue of his budget price tag, while skipper Phil Jagielka (5.1) – who fired two attempts from inside the box yesterday – seems the safest route into the defence.

Smooth for me. Eriksen and Dawson out (11 pts) for Bellerin and Payet (23 pts). I captained Payet as well.

80 pts and up to 16K in the overall rankings, something I never thought would happen back in the dark days of winter.

      Decent - 72 points.

Brought in Payet for Sissoko and captained him. Played AoA as I didn't want to bench Silva or Alli. 11 points from Azpilicueta was decent too.

Smooth: Used my 2FT on double Che defense against the terrible Aston Villa. Captained Sanchez.

Rough: Nothing really, although most people own Leicester or MUN defensive assets so it sort of nullified my two CSs.

Still happy with my GW, 67 score.

Eriksen and Vardy to Sanchez (c) and Ighalo (benched Ighalo for Lingard). Scored a very respectable 78 points. In saying that Bellerins 14 and Morgans 15 took the shine off of it from a ML point of view.

Rough - I used my wildcard last week and brought in Willian as my Chelsea vs Villa punt.

Willian then wasn't even in the squad and I now need to waste a transfer to get rid of him...

Smooth - at 11:44am on Saturday I was doing a very last check on my WC team and although I'd had Monreal as my Arsenal cover all week, I had the money to upgrade to Bellerin, so I switched Monreal to Bellerin and clicked save, within 10-15 seconds the game had locked out. 8 points gained 🙂

        Additional smooth

Comparing my team from 2 weeks ago to last week's WC team, I was 6 points up overall comparing all players I swapped out for those brought in.

So 6points increase and my team is now set for the DGWs. Perfect scenario really.

Rough: Dawson and Siggy on the bench to play Fuchs and Alli. Cech didn't start.

      HUGE SMOOTHIE THIS WEEK

And probably the best gameweek I'll ever have!

      2FT:
(would have played Hennessy (2) )

      Butland (0) + Alderweireld (2) --> Courtois (7) + Azpilicueta (11)

      Plus: Bellerin (14), MORGAN (15), Payet (9), Sigurdsson (7), Kane (8), Aguero C (14)

Overall 93 points, and a 2K gameweek rank. Up to 12K overall now! On the up...

Smooth: I wildcarded on Thursday evening and my new team outscored my pre-wildcard team by 16 points. I've now got 13 double Gameweek players ready for Gameweek 34 and I'll have an extra free transfer to work with over people wildcarding this week. 75 points took me from 41k to 29k in the overall ranks and Alex Iwobi's 8 points were the sweetest of the lot as he has less than one hundredth of the ownership that Ozil has and he costs £5m less than Ozil.

Smooth: WCd this GW, agonized for two weeks about whether to drop Kane for a DGWer (and to be able to afford Sanchez alongside Ozil), decided finally to drop Kane for Martial and (c) Sanchez. Almost looked rough when Kane scored on Saturday, but on Sunday Martial got a point more.

83 points, which is at least 23 points more than my pre-WC team (if I made the perfect transfer and (c) choice). Up from 69k to 40k, and within striking distance of overtaking you in the Old Farts Club Jonty!

ROUGH - Played my WC a week early and scored 82. Non WC team would have scored 89.

However, I now have the option to TC Lukaku in GW33, and I will carry over an extra FT into GWs 35 & 36 compared to those playing their WC this week. It may end up being worth the short term loss.

Got Payet in for Siggy rather than Firmino to try and save SV.

      Smooth

Captained Sanchez - cue 89pts and halving OR to top 22k.

      That is all.

Rough - captained Ozil. I knew Arsenal were going for a big score, but captained the wrong man!

Smooth - Got Bellerin back, and Sanchez repaid the faith. Nailed on GW34 captain now. All thoughts of parting company have long gone. Goals from Kun and Kane for a steady 68.

Moved up from 1.5m to 800k in 4 weeks now. Hoping to get inside top 10% with WC, BB and TC to play.

Smooth: Wildcarded to 94 points, a GW rank of 1410 - Bellerin, Payet, Lanzini, Aguero, Mitrovic, Sanchez (c). Green arrows from 10 out of the last 11. From 829K in GW21 to 69K now. Really hoping to keep pushing on with TC/BB in the next two.

Rough: Not really that gutted but was seriously considering Azpi over Dann on wildcard for 32 only ...also had Rojo who went off at half time costing me a clean sheet, and had also seriously considered KDB over Ozil...

Both rough and smooth for me. Mitrovic may be a wonderful differential for he doubles, but I might have misread the Liverpool fullback situation by getting in Flanagan.

Agueros fixture i s allright, but as someone noted earlier WBA tend to let in goals from midfielders rather than strikers. KDB could be an outside bet but too early from injury to captain.

      Has to be Lukaku.

Well, i am not going to draft KDB because i do think he will not play 120 minutes for the doubles. Thats the only drawback and to be fair i am debating of shipping Mahrez for Bolasie.

                    Sanchez - KDB - Coutinho - Bolasie - Lanzini

Well i would ship KDB to Payet and look at getting someone for Lanzini that has a gw in 35.
                      Actually i would do this.

                      Kdb > Payet
                      Darlow > Mignolet
                      Sakho > Simpson

That would allow you to ship both Lanzini and Bolasie for Milner and MAYBE MAYBE a punt on Mane for avl in gw 35?

That means 1 less DGW player in both GW33 and 34 - not for me I don't think.

Only for gw 34? Its Simpson. You can double up on LIV defense if you will and that gives you a GW 35 player as well.

Oh sorry, read Darlow as Robles....Oops.

Bolasie is becoming Milner so can't double on defence, don't really want to either 🙂

But perhaps 1 SGW player is what I need to do.

Not for me. I like the fact Aguero doesn't blank.

I'd like Martial but don't think I can fit him in without 1-2 hits in GW35. Probably going with Aguero - Lukaku - Mitrovic.

Father Dougal: They have horse riding as well. I remember I did it last year. Well it wasn't really a horse, it was actually this oul fella. He couldn't go very fast so I had to hit him with the whip a few times.
Father Ted: How old was he?
Father Dougal: I'd say he was about 80.
Father Ted: And how long were you up on him?
          Father Dougal: About an hour?
Father Ted: So you were up on an 80-year-old man's back for 60 minutes, whipping him around the place. Do you realise that image will stay with me for the rest of my life?

Ahaha. Moving it from Bellerin to Aguero has left my wall with a few more holes in it.

    Difficult. Pick and choose lads.

    A) Mahrez in 33,34 and 35. Okazaki/VVD/Low cost punt in 35 or
    B) Bolasie in 33 and 34. Pelle in 35.

SOT play Villa in 35. Lei play Swans. 36 Wcarder. Kane is playing 35.

Smooth - subbed out Butland and Siggy for Courtois and Payet (c) for a 1 week punt before activating wildcard. Score of 79 jumped me from 18k to 11k... I have however already used my Bench Boost in the dark days of 2.8m OR following my horrendous start

Currently have 7 DGW34 players, and with FTs could get 9. Have no WC.

I plan to get 10-11 DGW players with a hit or two. In that case, might not play my BB in GW34.

Is there value in anything more than 11 DGW players considering each would be for a hit just so I can use BB in 34?

Q1: Has there been a podcast recently that I cant find on the new layout?

Q2: Alex Iwobi vs Jesse Lingard: If Iwobi is now nailed on he surely has the better chance of goals?

Q3: Martial or Rashford simply to free up loads of euros.

    Ta.

      1) no
      2) Lingard more nailed but Iwobi is playing well so unlikely to be dropped but may not play twice in a week.
      3) Martial - Shrek back imminently

Look forward to. It kind of seals the deals for me. Plus my boss has no idea why my conference calls at work last for roughly an hour and a 20 minutes every Friday and involve a lot of chin rubbing and actual LOLs.

Wouldn't bring Mahrez back for their final run-in - would prefer a DGW37 player like Khazri, Willian or a Liverpool mid but yes for those 3.

On paper Marhez for GW33 to GW35, then Payet for final weeks of season looks a decent way of saving a hit in GW35, not having Payet DGW34 could be disastrous however.
