Scout Notes

Scout Scribbles – Defensive Worries Ease for Hammers

Sam Byram and James Collins are expected to return for West Ham’s clash with Arsenal. Erik Lamela could be back for Tottenham’s showdown with United. Phil Jones and Ashley Young step up their fitness with a run-out for the Red Devils’ reserves, whilst Fabricio Coloccini could be back in the frame for Newcastle this weekend.

Hammers defenders on the mend

Slaven Bilic confirmed that James Collins and Sam Byram will be in contention for West Ham United’s home encounter against Arsenal on Saturday.

The Scout Says: With Byram back in contention and the fit-again James Tomkins afforded a bench role last week, owners of Michail Antonio will be optimistic he can now revert to a midfield berth. The ex-Nottingham Forest wide man has deputised at right-back or right wing-back in recent weeks and, having drawn successive blanks, has fallen behind Manuel Lanzini – who has netted in each of the last two – as our preferred budget Hammers midfielder. Priced at 5.5 to Lanzini’s 4.9, Antonio is owned by just 4% of FPL managers and with double Gameweeks 34 and 37 to consider, could return to our radars once again.

Lamela hopeful of weekend return

Tottenham Hotspur are optimistic that Erik Lamela will shake off a calf complaint in time for their home tie against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Scout Says: With just three goals and five assists, Lamela has been a peripheral figure on the Fantasy scene. In terms of Spurs’ midfield assets, Dele Alli edges out Christian Eriksen by way of his attractive pricing (6.2 compared to 8.6) and recent form (four assists in as many starts). Nonetheless, the Danish playmaker is also in the midst of a purple patch: aside from bagging one goal and assist in his last two outings, he ranked second among all midfielders for attempts (14) and shots on target (five) across his previous quartet of matches. Considering that the Lilywhites don’t enjoy a double Gameweek 34, though, Alli’s 32% ownership will be tempted to cash in – indeed, over 27,000 have already parted company since the weekend. Up front, Harry Kane is another matter altogether, however. Considering the forward has served up six goals, an assist and eight bonus points over his last four, it’s easy to see why many owners are having second thoughts over cashing in on Kane as we reassemble our Wildcard teams.

Defensive duo back for United

Ashley Young and Phil Jones were both handed run-outs for Manchester United’s U21 outfit for their clash against Chelsea last night, but Wayne Rooney was not passed fit to play:

The Scout Says: With Young and Jones now in the mix ahead of United’s double, the likes of Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind may well carry a greater rotation risk. The Argentinian left-back has chalked up five consecutive starts but was replaced at the break against Everton due to jet lag and lasted the distance just once in the other four ties. On a similar note, Antonio Valencia clocked pitch time in the Red Devils’ previous two match-ups, bolstering his case for starts ahead of Matteo Darmian during a congested schedule. Ultimately, Chris Smalling and David De Gea are the only sure-fire routes into a defence that charts bottom for home goals conceded (seven) this term.

Rafa hopeful on Coloccini fitness

According to Rafa Benitez, Fabricio Coloccini will return to training this week ahead of Newcastle United’s trip to Southampton on Saturday:

“So he (Coloccini) will be training (this week) and we’ll see how he feels and then we’ll decide but the good thing is that if they are coming back then at least we have that competition and that can only be good for the team.”

The Scout Says: The Magpies recorded a solitary clean sheet in their last 16 outings, giving us little reason to invest in their defence before back-to-back home clashes (SWA & MCI) in Gameweek 34. In saying that, injuries to Tim Krul and Rob Elliot are set to afford Karl Darlow – at just 3.9 – a run of starts as Benitez attempts to stave off the threat of relegation. It’s further up the field where our main interests lie, though. Although he’s not scored for nine starts, Georginio Wijnaldum’s home bias (all nine goals at St James’ Park) renders him a left-field differential, while Aleksandar Mitrovic is the form man in the Tynesiders’ attack. Delving further into the Serbian marksman’s potential, he ranked fourth for attempts (15), third for shots inside the box (14) and joint-fourth for shots on target (six) among all forwards in their last four matches. Having started off the bench last weekend, his brace at Norwich surely puts Mitrovic in pole position to lead the line once again.

What is the maximum number of games your players can have until DGW37
    Is is it 16(5DGWs), then 30 (15DGws , then 11for gw35 and 22 (11Dgws)?

And do I achieve that fe with:

    2Lpool (1GK)
    3Arsenal
    3Everton (1GK)
    1 M.United
    1West Ham
    1Ncastle
    2 ManCity
2Palace (becoming one Pool and one Sunderland in the next two weeks)?!

    Or did I miscalculate?

Ic ant have one more United instead of City as it would mean 8blankers for GW35 which can only be reduced to 5 (one too many) right?

    Thx!?

Still think it's all a bit too restrictive, just to max out on DGW players. Compromises will need to be made and I just preferred more balance between DGW's and SGW's (esp for GW35) in the end.

          GW33 - 4 x DGWs
          GW34 - 12 x DGWs (plus BB)
          GW35 - 11 x SGWs (with 2 x FTs and a hit)

          Is how I'm shaping up.

          GW37 - 9 to 11 DGWs plus TC

You can get nice touch screen laptops these days, however I'm not a huge fan of touch screen laptops.

If you have a budget in mind, I can find one for you. I generally look on PCWorld for their current deals.

Aim for a laptop with at least an i3 processor and 4GB RAM. If you find something that comes with a HDD, it might be a good idea to upgrade it to an SSD to speed it up.

piece of cake. runs windows 8.1 or 10, just disable all the crappy 8.1 tiles menu stuff and use as a pc half the time, and a keyboardless windows tablet the rest. even though they're up to surface pro 4 now, the original still goes alright and i'm sure there are second hand versions for cheap now if you're saving a quid.

I was all for Dann to start with, but that that meant the difference between Milner & Payet in midfield.

I've only gone for a Palace def as a H2H/ML blocker.

I would only get Bolasie if you can get rid of him after 33 and in most cases that results in a future hit too.

      So Coutinho.

after 7th green arrows in a row i've put faith in my team in heands of liverpool defensive double up (moreno+Sakho)

    surely this can't end well?

i could have wba,cpl or even city defender(other than otamendi) but those liverpool defenders offers so cheap route in that team

i did have swansa double up and got 2x2 cs out of 3 matches and only 1 blank when i benched other defender so that went well

people was laughting at swansa defence as well...

    Whats wrong with this WC:

    Migs Robles
Clichy Bellerin Gabriel Delaney (becoming PVA for 35) Coleman
Ozil Cout Bolasie (becoming Firmino next week) Lingard Payet
    Mitrovic Aguero Lukaku

Clichy started 5last (looks like Kolarov is out of favour)
Coleman differential, defense might find feet yet again
Team Value sadly too low for Sanchez but then again Ozil looks like a (much needed) differential now

Or would you Iwobi instead of Lingard and Smalling instead of Bellerin?

Kolarov likely to play one of the DGW matches IMO, or potentially GW35 where having 11 players is already a challenge.

Do you have a Palace defender? My TV isn't the best, but it's not bad, and there's no way I could afford that. Doubling up on MUN and ARS defence is expensive 🙁

I don't think Barkley is actually worth much over Iwobi... As you have Cout, I'd be tempted more by KDB

It leaves me short, down to 8 players. It's a tough one.

Gabriel instead of Sakho obviously gives me no extra players for gw35. I don't know if Iwobi or Gabriel are bigger risks - Arsenal have a lot of midfielders, some returning from injury.

I'm still undecided on either Sakho + Iwobi or Gabriel + Lanzini

If so, what are you going for?

      I'm thinking £50 BTTS before - £90 return.
£50.00 next goalscorer depending on how the games going, either Aguero or Ibra

        0-0 then?

do 100 double chance returns 25 profit

50 inplay on draw returns 50 profit

£50 on either City or PSG to win before and £50 in play on a draw?

Yeah that is the safest option I suppose.. I have always done risky ones and not won once.. maybe I should just go safe lol

has to be 100 on city or PSG to win before, if it wins you will win 125 back and then you get the 50 inplay refunded

if the 50 on the draw in play wins you get 200 back which is a profit of 50

Did you watch Everton? Del was fit and they still fitted him in, even played him off Lukaku, to me he looks super nailed, only legit pace in that team as well

Fair enough, if you like him keep him 🙂 always go with your gut.

However.. I don't think Lennon is super nailed myself.. or that good in fact.

After seeing his home stats, and those fixtures, you can not ignore, on the wing or up top, hes a threat/involved.

        A. Because you get the chance to get rid of Deeney.

      A. Bolaise + Jags
      vs
      B. Delaney + Barkley

      and why?

Bolasie and Delboy would be my preference.

Jags is too much money for a team that keeps so few cs and besides, you should already have Robles.

B makes more appeal although Barkley has only had one decent score in the last 11 games.

There are going to be so many confused people who think they can wildcard and BB next week.

Lots of emails to FPL I reckon.

      Can't wait 🙂

Is there any way to remove the fixed FFS header at the top of a page on Chrome desktop browser? Trying to do some covert FFS-ing here during work, but might as well be playing a video game with the big logo up there.

      Hi guys,

here is the wc team draf #342

      robles, darlow
      smalling, gabriel, sakho, clichy, simpson
      sanchez, payet, coutinho, lanzini, iwobi
      lukaku, kun, martial.

      ITB: 0,9

I may swap clichy - clyne.

      What else you advice?

        Darlow->Mings
        Smalling-Rojo/Darmain
        Gabs - Bellerin
        Clichy->Delaney
        Iwobi->Bolasie

        5/10.

Back 7 is your main issue.

Not a fan of Gabriel as your only Arsenal defender, very risky, would definately try to get Bellerin/Kosc in
