The ScoutCast – Episode 220 – Manic

Now that the international break is behind us and the fixture list is bulging, the pace to the end of the season promises to be relentless.

It’s even enough to force us into the indignity of a “manic” Monday night ScoutCast.

Having endured the most mediocre of Gameweeks, it’s a blessing in disguise that the next is already upon us. Despite that, we still take time to cast an eye back at the weekend, including a revival of “Rough with the Smooth”, recounting your own contrasting fortunes.

Elsewhere, your community questions have us conducting the now weekly stock check of Manchester United’s double Gameweek wannabes, while Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez’s mood swings also come under scrutiny again as we chew over the likely replacements for the stricken Sadio Mane.

Palace get some love, those teams without a double Gameweek get appraised, and we even take time to explore a new phenomenon: the raiding right-back and curious bonus point darling that is Jesus Navas.

Oh, and much as we tried to shut down Jonty’s attempts to gloat about the latest spectacular success of his goals imminent table, Wilfred Ndidi still gets a mention.

This ScoutCast was first beamed live via our YouTube channel on Monday night. Be sure to subscribe to get notice of future live episodes.

If you’re a traditional type, you can acquire the mp3 audio version via this link on the first player below, or take in the full visual experience, plates and all, via the second player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I have Robertson in defence so leaning towards Heaton.

"In this moment without options with many people, especially in some positions that they cannot play I'd prefer to give a little rest to some brave guys like Antonio Valencia, like Bailly playing for national team, travelling and playing again, they deserve a little bit more but we have to do it"

    https://youtu.be/7mpctpKJMtQ?t=146

To me he's saying he wants to rest Valencia and Bailly but he can't because of the other options he has.

Darmian could easily come in though i think. He looked ok against the Netherlands in the international break.

I'll have Mawson to come in if he doesn't play but perhaps I should abandon Costa to Ibra (-4) and do FM to Davies instead.

Sanchez for me. As said on last night's Scoutcast I don't have any worries about his ability to do well, on the wing or central.

.....whether his team mates can match his enthusiasm and work rate though is, admittedly, open to question. 😉

Hoping Giroud will play, have a feeling that it suits Sanchez better to play with him than Wellbeck. Although, if Giroud plays he will take penalties away from Sanchez but then again if Arsenal get a penalty and Giroud´s not there to take it, I´m not sure whether to celebrate or cry. He is an awful penaltytaker, that little chilean guy

It's between Vardy, Alli and Sanchez.
I choose Vardy because he plays vs Sunderland and I feel he'll give his all to do well today and get pumped up for next week's quarter final vs Atletico. He might have limited minutes and not push too hard in the weekend match.
Not Sanchez because of Arsenal's look as a team, which seems to frustrate him and mess with his will to play with passion.
If I didn't have Vardy, it would be Alli.

Vardy (at the moment anyway). It would definitely be Sánchez if he was playing centrally, but as it seems likely that he will start on the wing again I think I will take the risk and go for Vardy. Sunderland are awful away from home, and are virtually certain of relegation already, so have little to play for.

But when Defoe is out, they will be defensive with 11 behind the ball and Leicester arent the masters on attacking as they focus on defence and counterattacks. I can see a goalless draw.

Put it on Sanchez right away after saturdays deadline but have I picked hime for the armband only out of habit, or fear? He was playing very deep vs City, but West Ham is another cup of tea, isnt it? I think it is the sane move, but Alli, Cout and even Carroll is perhaps viable captaincy options and I have them all.

It might be fear that drives me and many others to captain Sanchez, but I think that it will be goals in West Ham-Arsenal, plenty I would say, and that´s perhaps the most important reason behind my choice, i think.

      Wow. Everyone going Alexis, eh?

I'm not bothering, so all of a sudden this could turn out to be the most important GW of the season for me. Two goals, doubled for captainers, and I'll plummet.

But I'm sticking to my guns. I think it'll be 1-1. Hopefully he's not the one to score Arsenal's equaliser.

Vardy or Alli for me. Leaning towards the latter. Brace imminent.

No Vardy or Ibra, so it was a choice between Sanchez (c), Cou (vc) and Alli.
West Ham has worst defence. They lost Obiang, Reid, Creswell with Byram and Antonio just recovered.
      Fonte/Collins defence.
No cs since 14th of January.
Bournemouth on the other hand kept SOU and Swans at bay since Francis is back and won vs WHU 3:2 which makes them a better team in general.
Liv is in better form then Arsenal but Arsenal home will be desperate to win. Sanchez has almost 90 min guaranteed and Cou about 70-80.
Last but not least my captain changes on the last day never went well. Sticking with Alexis.

      Coutinho or Alli for me

Coutinho scored a great goal on Saturday which will have upped his confidence. Bournemouth defence still not great. Yes they kept Swans & Saints at bay, but Liverpool are a whole different kettle of fish.

Alli is also a great option. Playing practically up front, against a dodgy Swansea defense who only got a CS at the weekend due to a blunt Boro attack.

      Also, I don't own Sanchez.....

I went for Walcott instead. Sanchez touches were awful in that City game. I believe he is affected in some way. Now time for me to pitch a tent behind my couch. Walcott looks in great form recently though.

      Vardy or Ibra.

But as someone else entioned here, if Defoe doesnt play SUN will sit with 11 behind the ball and hope for a 0-0 draw.

So enclined to C Ibrahimovic. Also have Sanchez but I can see West Ham winning this game (and then losing the last 7 games of the season) with some Big Andy goals + Arsenal are a mess, no spirit in the team, ALexis will prob play on the wing again,...

Although I own Sanchez I'm going Ibra. That EVE teams looks like the wheels are about to come off (maybe an exaggeration). Zlatan will be fired up and it's a must win game if they're to stay in the hunt for top 4.
In saying that if Sanchez was playing centrally and looking half content he'd be an easy pick against the Hammers, but he's not and he's not.

I don't own Sanchez so I'm going Coutinho. I liked what I saw at the weekend, and Bournemouth leak. I've got Ibra in but don't trust Utd at home anymore.

See, tempted by Origi as well.

But going forward is this a forward you want to own?

Is he even starting? Remember the last time chanced it on Origi and did nothing then went to the bench seen huge dip in minutes..

Liverpool do have nice fixtures. I'll probably ditch once Mane is fit again. I think he's likely to play for the meantime.

    Bench one;

    A) Alonso
    B) B.Davies
    C) Gylfi.S

Have also Sane and Aguero, just so you know..

    OR

    D) Alonso and Sane/Gylfi for -4 ---> boro defender and Alli

    Have only Davies from Spurs
and I am chasing in my mini league
Sane is differential (but is he good enough?), and little afraid to go without Spurs mid, especially next week. would have to transfer Sane/Gylfi out anyways nextweek if want Alli.

    Thanks!

SA: Scott Dann is more serious that we thought, he's in a brace. A few weeks we think. Tomkins not so bad, PvA making progress. They won't be in contention for Southampton and maybe not Arsenal, which will test the squad now.
