The Men In Black – Gameweek 12

Our work behind the scenes, which is set to bring referee data to the members’ section early next week, is now close to completion.

From that point, members can expect another Development Squad article, updating you with details on the full data on offer.

With that in mind, we thought we’d roll out an introductory piece will share some data and offer a basic analysis of the “men in black” ahead of Gameweek 12.

Essentially, the idea is to look for any patterns in the numbers which could potentially help shape Fantasy decision-making for the round of fixtures ahead.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Who ditch for Salah

    A) Eriksen or
    B) Sterling (rotation risk but no other city cover)?

    Thank you!

Eriksen did score a hattrick last night.. looked lethal. Such a fun player to own. But if it is not about fun and you are blocking a rival I would still try keep eriksen. Who is rest of attack and midfield ?

Thank you for writing (also to the others). This was kind.

        My team is:

        de Gea, Elliot
        Jones, Ward, Duffy (Fernández) (Otamendi)
        Eriksen, Richarlison, Sterling, Choupo-Moting (Carroll)
        Lukaku (C), Kane, Vardy

Value of the team is 102.7, 0.0 in bank and two free transfers.

"In popular culture and UFO conspiracy theories, men in black (MIB) are supposed men dressed in black suits who claim to be government agents who harass or threaten UFO witnesses to keep them quiet about what they have seen. It is sometimes implied that they may be aliens themselves."

Wonder if the guys at FPL towers are MIB.

I didn't realize that Tim Cahill was 37 now. Hope to see him in action at the WC.

Haha, that is the way forward!

I was considering him strongly as my captain, but I have a feeling he will start on the bench now. With Lukaku's three upcoming fixtures it really feels like I should do a swap.

I've considered it but Lukaku and United are in a poor vein of form, although they have the fixtures to turn it around. Call me naive, but I believe there's a good chance that 20 mins of Aguero outscores 90 minutes of Lukaku this week.

Lukaku has 2 blanks in 11 games.

Let the non owners hope he doesn't hit form in the next 3 if that's considered poor.

In fantasy terms he's had two assists in that period which is a whole two points less than if he scored two goals.

Sorry, seems you're clutching at straws here.

Maybe I am, but I stand by my point and I think many will agree that Lukaku looks poor atm. 90 minutes and a goal changes everything.

He has looked poor, don't disagree BUT he's looked poor because Jose has been trying to not get beat against his rivals.

I guess what people have to decide is if you believe Jose will bricking it at the thought of playing Newcastle, Brighton and Watford (like he did against Liverpool and Spurs) or if he'll let his horses run free in games he's expected to win comfortably with two of them at fortress Old Trafford.

What we do know is that in his mind, Lukaku has broken his 'drought' and comes back with 3 in 2, it's all lining up for him.

He's had like 4 shots in 380minutes of football, he never pick s up bonus points and he's playing in a very dull looking team right now, much better ways to spend 11.5m right now

Well if I get Kaku and he does well, I'll be thanking you.

I can see both sides of it, just think United look very different to the side that was beating teams with ease. Mkhi has turned into Ozil 2.0, Pogba isn't back yet, and their most exciting player (Martial) has inconsistent minutes. The supply line to Lukaku has been very poor recently, I just don't see how it changes until Mkhi gets form or Pogba is back. But hey.. s'only Newcastle and Brighton I suppose.

Also worth mentioning that this Pogba thing is a bit of a myth. Lukaku got a double digit haul in GWK 5 - after Pogba was injured. United also eased four past Palace shortly afterwards.

It is impossible to compare Lukaku v Chelsea or Liverpool with his performances and those of Utd against minnows.

The only minnows to do well against Utd this season are stoke and huddersfield - and Lukaku still got returns against them.

Best comparison is against weaker sides - and that suggests that bare minimum he will get an attacking return, and has a strong chance of a haul too.

I agree, it's a complete myth, two 4 nils at home after Pogba broke proves this.

Can't get my head round people talking about the lack of shots in the last few games, Jose and his style is not new to this league or us, the only surprise is that people are surprised.

This is why I like Lukaku and United this season as they are looking very predictable. Shut up shop against rivals, go goal crazy bonkers against weak sides.

Lukaku as well historically has done the same - so in theory the Belgian at United makes him possibly the greatest anti-troll of all time.

I think form might play a part too. The team will struggle to just turn it up suddenly, right? He burned me as captain away at Huddersfield and I'm reticent now.

If Jose style has shifted so much that his striker only gets 1 shot a game then nobody would want him. Utd are in poor form attacking wise, they're struggling with creating chances and this is effecting Lukakus performances.
Btw this wasn't a surprise, the only surprise was Utd scoring so freely early on

Why will they? At home they are a different animal, it's as close to a fortress as you can get in the PL.

Chelsea have been looking all over the place before the game with United, they and Morata turned up in that and now everyone is falling over themselves to forget the last month.

Because Newcastle are well drilled and Utd are in poor form, I'm just saying there's better ways to spend the money in my opinion, you're taking this too personally.

JT, it's clear from your comments that your only willing to look at one side of the argument with very little context, fair enough, hard to argue in those circumstamces.

I mentioned Chelsea as a way of highlighting how a team can look a complete shambles for weeks and then switch it on in a game where everyone all of a sudden declare them as must have and in form, just fail to see why United will be incapable of doing the same at home where they've played 5, won 5, scored 15 and conceded none.

I don't have him.But I don't understand why people are still undecided when there's been article upon article stating he's back, he's training as normal and he's available for selection. He's the same rotation risk as he was for the last few games - if you were ok with it then, you should be now.

      1. Hobolicious

In all honesty wouldn't he be a bigger rotation risk this weekend after the hospital incident?

If the hospital visit concluded that he was ill, then yes - of course. But the hospital visit didn't say that. If I go to the doctor and he tells me I'm fine then I tend to go back to my normal routine. So no - I don't think he's a bigger rotation risk. He's still at the same whim of Pep as he was in GW11.

It's not going to make him less of a risk that's for sure.

Trip to Russia, two games, trip to hospital, trip back to England, 11 games + CL before Jan 1st.

Why would Pep even go there when Jesus has been in England and is fit and ready?

Will this move get you more points in the long run? Hard to tell I would say probably not as city score so many goals it's astonishing.

Will this move improve your sanity and reduce frustration of an expensive player being benched and having minutes reduced? Absolutely. Up to you though.

Ya that's it, with Aguero it's explosive returns vs rotation headache, with Lukaku it's poor form vs good fixtures.

Hopefully Pep will say MC have some protocol and Aguero cannot play 😉

Keep as good fixtures. Alternative is surman very cheap playing mid great fixtures. Not terrible if you have got gross though. Although I prefer Knockhaert for brighton.

Huddersfield haven't scored away from home since the Palace game in GW1. Safe to bring in Daniels for a hit for Davies?

guess it's one of those where you need to decide if you would be getting him in the near future anyway. could just be shifting the 4 pointer forward

Would want Daniels sooner rather than later cause after Bournemouth's 5 game run their fixtures turn.

Daniels would be lovely now becuase if Bournemouth are ever going to keep a clean sheet it will be this weekend. But also Davies seems to me to be favourite to start this weekend. Maybe he scores double figures. Only worth a hit if you can't guarantee a starting 11.

Not sure of a Spurs CS as Arsenal have always managed to score against them at the Emirates. Would be banking on him A) starting and B) getting attacking points

Does this bunch need a WC? Got 2 FT 1m..

    Foster (Eliot)
    Jones, Monreal, Cedric (Long, Suttner)
    Silva, Erikson, Richarlison, Rambo (TC)
    Lukaku, Jesus, Vardy

Or potentially Vardy, Erikson, Cedric > Morata, Salah, Mee

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Vardy and Eriksen are not your main concerns. Foster surely has to go soon and, yes, Cedric too. Upgrade that defence first, mate. The rest can wait. I'd only want to WC it because of your bench.

    current team:

    Elliot/Forster
    Ward/Otamendi/Jones/Davies/Mbemba
    Sterling/Salah/richarlison/Carroll/King
    Kane/Jesus/Vardy

    Thinking of Mbemba+King+Vardy to Moreno+Loftus cheek+Morata for a -8.

    thoughts and suggestions!!!

I'd go Luiz and Cedric to Moreno (rotates well with Daniels short-term at least) and then either:
      a) A proper defender like Vertonghen and just keep him (trust me); or
      b) Someone else budget and upgrade Vardy to Morata.

You can't be serious. Have you read Fooled by randomness? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fooled_by_Randomness.

Have you considered that these refs aren't penalty happy, that they actually had more penalty incidents in their games than other refs?

Also, if all you can find to justify buying a player is which ref they have for one week, that's not much of a justification.
