The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety One – Honeytrap

Granville loves a double Gameweek. He circles them like a fly around honey, so often falling for their hollow promises and duplicitous charm. Will Gameweek 16 be any different? Certainly my esteemed rival has the momentum; after closing our mini-league gap to just three points, Granville is in confident mood as we chew the fat on the this week’s double header, lament the Baines phantom injury and the not-so-phantom Bale affliction.

The regulars are present and correct, as we chat Michu, Fellaini and Suarez vs Ba in “all aboard”, preview the rest of the weekend fixtures, tamper with the failing ScoutCast team and reveal a new arrival in our members area for the New Year.

Buzz round this latest temptation via this link or use the player below the stream the sweetness.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I can tell you how it can backfire. Easy. Michu blank and yellow. Suspension. Bale makes a recovery and scores a brace against Swansea. Boom.

    RP

I am closer to making a decision this week and leaning on bringing in McAnuff this week over Robsn-Kanu and Sess. My rationale is that he will be my 5th midfielder going forward until the January WC. This way i will not have to waste a FT getting him out in the next month. Further RK will be fighting to keep his starting role with Kebe returning

That said, RDG do have decent fixtures over the Xmas program and he is nailed on. Imho a strong bench is essential during that period.

    Make sense?

Makes sense. It's the more logical move. I just gave into temptation. My eyes got big thinking Sess could bring me glory. Surely, it will fail. Go for it. Who are you taking out?

I will do that too, I think. He is kind of flying under the radar on these pages, but he will be essential under Rafa, and even if he gets rotated here and there, he will be right up there with the top scorers I think.

Rafa would be insane to rotate him.....no CL. he can play everywhere, Wing/Hole/Striker......imo he is the least likely to be rotated. But then again it is Rafa.

It was more rest than rotation if that makes sense but he should be ok once he comes back from Japan unscathed

Mata's the key man behind the striker TBH

    Begovic
    Iva Verma Enrique Cameron
    Mata Fellaini Sterling Walcott(INJ)
    Berba Jelavic

    Subs - Demel Britton Suarez

now as walcott is injured and expected back by 17dec ... and it seems i have already used my free transfer and also have a 4point hit .... so is it worth transfering walcott for someother player ?? If yes then which ?? Or should i keep him and play 5-3 -2 ???

Tranmere haven't won in 3 games in the league (2 draws, 1 defeat and scored 1 goal)

      Last 4 results at home have been: 1-2, 1-1, 0-1, 0-0

Their early season form is why they are top...and now it's just 2 wins in 8.

Pompey are no world beaters and are down in 20th as you say, however it is a highly competitive league and they have avoided defeat in 50% of their away games this season.

Not saying Tranmere won't win, but it's always worth having a closer look than just assuming it's a banker as it's 1st v 20th.

You get two games out of him. Not sure that equates to any more points than that. If Bale is out longer than 2 gwks and then picks up a 5th yellow, then it is an inspired move.
          Potentially.

        😉

I just object to what Mark was saying on the Ba vs. Suarez debate. He questioned whether Ba was better value than Suarez. There's 2m difference in their price and they've both scored 10 goals with a few assists each 😐

Basically if you owned Ba from the start and not Suarez you would be as well off. Therefore Ba is significantly better value. I don't understand how that can be up for debate.

And there was a suggestion he's not as nailed on as Suarez...very confusing.

            +1

Yes they have scored the same so far, but he thinks Suarez will score more in the future (which i agree with). Also he was pointing out that Suarez is pretty much Guaranteed to start every game because we need him, where as Newcastle may rest him over the xmas period as they have back up.. plus he's not as fit & more likely to get an injury

Suarez might be better to own but Unreal is not happy about saying Suarez is better value. Am sorry but Ba is. He is delivering the goods for 2m cheaper. And he will be up there come the end of the season. Suarez might end up scoring more but Ba is better value.

They don't really have backup, Ba has scored all their goals.

I'm not denying Suarez has better fixtures but it just seemed illogical to me to try to debate whether Ba was better value or not. He is and there is no denying it.

There's no denying that Ba has been better value *so far*, which is obvious and proven by the facts.. so i guess mark was incorrect if that's what he meant, but i think he was taking the rest of the season into consideration and by the end season Suarez will probably of been better value, but i suppose we'll have to wait and see.

There's still no statistical evidence you can use to say Suarez will most definitely score more than Ba. Ba is getting a lot of chances and shots as well. The two of them are getting the lion's share of chances and so far have shown they are far superior to their teammates in terms of goal threat overall.

The other side of it is Ba doesn't necessarily have to score more than Suarez to be better value.

As CF says, Sess 'out-stats' AJ in every attacking aspects (goal attempts, penalty area touches, shots in box etc).

AJ only wins in terms of number of crosses > assists potential. But unfortunately, his crosses leave a lot to be desired (see below article)

    Fletcher owners ! Attention !

If he is ruled out for the duration who is the best replacement, do you think? Ba, Berbatov, Defoe, Giroud et al all have major issues and none stand out as a clear choice, certainly not this weekend. Any ideas?

Yes, but I'd want to sell him next week CF and I'm really not a big fan of the one-week transfers. He does look good though, shame that Readings fixtures don't inspire confidence.
