The Stock Check – Wednesday

A frustrating evening for Gareth Bale and Fantasy managers as Spurs and Chelsea play out a stalemate at the Bridge with the goals shared amongst unlikely differentials. Here’s the Stock Check from Wednesday’s Gameweek climax.

On the Up

Oscar
The young Brazilian was identified as our headline act in our Differentials article prior to the Gameweek deadline and duly delivered. Tonight’s tap in was his third goal in four games for Oscar, who has started five of the last six league outings. Owned by under 2% of Fantasy Premier League managers, we picked him this week out as a possible replacement for the injured Michu over the final two matches and, with tonight’s returns, many could now look in his direction.

Emmanuel Adebayor
The Togo striker put on a superb showing, earning goal and assist returns for the second time in his last four starts. Adebayor has endured a hugely disappointing season back in Spurs colours and has in no way justified his lofty FPL price tag. His end of season form is, however, looking strong and he could yet be considered as a potential differential for the final two fixtures by those with cash to spare up top.

Going Down

Eden Hazard
While Juan Mata kept ticking over and came out of the double Gameweek with an assist, his fellow playmaker was given just 72 minutes to earn returns for his investors and come up short. Hazard’s failure was compounded by Oscar’s profits and the Belgian’s owners will now have to hope for consecutive starts over the final two fixtures and a rapid turnaround in fortunes.

Jermain Defoe
Dropped to the bench after an ineffective display against Southampton, Adebayor’s performance will surely make a huge dent in Defoe’s prospects over the remaining fixtures and kill off any thoughts that the England striker could be an effective differential for the season climax.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I said earlier that the leaks about interest from PSG and Bayern were coming from sources closer to Rooney, not the clubs themselves. It was clear that he was angling for a move.

At the moment, Rooney simply isn't that popular a target for mainland European clubs. Difficult to handle, not in form - and English players as a whole don't have a reputation for acclimatizing well to different cultures and languages.

Rumour is he made a big signing before retiring. Who knows though.

I think he is staying on at the club. Might be a bit like Fairclough at Barnet, where he buys all the players and appoints managers, coaches etc but doesnt bother with the day to day stuff.

I'm by no means a Man Utd fan, nor by any means a fan of Alex Ferguson, but despite that, watching the tributes and everything today has almost made me feel a bit sad.

Since I got in to football, I've never known anything other than Ferguson at Man Utd.

Sorry for the long post just needing to let out some pressure put on my brain by the Fergie news.

As a non Manchester(or england based United fan) the shock of the situation has just reached my brain. For me the club was all about Fergie, especially now as most of the players who were there when I first fell in love with Manchester Untied football have moved on or have 1 or 2 years left of their playing days. I always trusted that Fergie knew best and never doubted the man even if the results were going their way. A part of Fergies success in my mind is the effectiveness in which he guided the club to both footballing and financial success.

I truly hope that the pressure of the modern day football wont get to the United owners and they will appoint a manager who I could respect, look up to and trust even if the results wont go Uniteds way.

That man for me is David Moyes( I prefer him as the Premierleague type of game is what suits me the best, and I am not sure how other managers would go about their business) Guys like Pellegrini, Ancelotti, Klopp are guys who I also see through my small view as acceptable options.

I sincerely hope and would pray if I would be religious that Mourinho wont get the job, as even though he is a proven winner and thus I can not say anything bad about his managerial skills(which has not stopped me criticising his long term affect on a club, which no doubt he could learn to do when given a chance) But that is not a man I could respect and look up to, in a similar way as I would not like a guy like Suarez or Ashley Young to be my teams captain.

It is very likely that I will stop pouting and come around if Mourinho manages to conduct himself in a respectful way. But I really hope it wont have to come to that, hopefully Moyes will get the job and will give a small relief to my worries, otherwise I wonder if my feelings for the club may start going a bit lukewarm.

Yeah I'd say I'm definitely not considering switching, it's just a very downward slope from winning the title the meh recent performances followed by the biggest of shake ups at the football club in my time

I actually wont be too hurt if they wont continue winning at the same rate. I just dont want to see United going down the same route as some other big clubs who fire a manager every year the results wont come along. I perfectly accept that the right manager might not be the first choice, but I would like to see that man to be given at least a 3 year period to get himself settled.

If things dont go as I hope than I will probably be supporting Kostja United(my fantasy team) 😀
