Monitor – Robin Van Persie

Having opened the season with a double in the Community Shield win over Wigan, Robin Van Persie’s brace in the Gameweek 1 win at Swansea suggested we were in for yet another year of consistent goalscoring. What has followed, however, has been highly unexpected and as United struggle to settle under David Moyes, the Dutchman has a single converted spot-kick to his name in the last six Gameweeks.

A hat-trick for Holland against Hungary last week saw Van Persie become his nation’s all-time top goalscorer and suggested his eye for goal was as keen as ever – with this in mind, we delve into the data to assess just what sort of impact Moyes’ arrival has made on the Fantasy heavyweight.

OK, im fairly new to fantasy football, so I have a question.

Im always seeing these comments; " He's 97% to go up" or "hes only going down 43%"

Where do you get these numbers?

Basically I'm wondering if Brady will go up before I get the next free transfer next week, because if he does I need to take a hit now or he will be too expensive..

To find a specific player, just type a name in the search field.

It shows you how many people own him, current price, how many trades have been made today (+ or -), total progess (the 97% and 43% you mentioned).

Even if Ozil is fit by the weekend , expect him to start from the bench if there is any hint of injury

Wilshere : only 30 mins of International
    Flamini: fresh
Cazorla : fresh and fit again
    Rosicky : fresh
    Arteta : fresh

and these 5 could easily start vs Norwich relegating Ramsey and Ozil to the bench with Dortmund 72 hrs later

    New crowd. Repost.

Lampard to Schurrle too sideways? Its frustrating to actually wait for that penalty to come, cause lamps doesn't look to be much involved with the attacks. Schurrle's been so good in the last month. Especially since the UCL game against Steau.

    Thoughts?

        +1

If he was nailed on, he'd be a good option. Unfortunately, he isn't so, I wouldn't bring him in for Lamps. If you really want some Chelsea cover for roughly Lamps price, you could look at Ramires?

Nah, not Ramires again, if given the choice between Lamps and Ramires, I'd go with Lampard. Corners, Free kicks and Penalties. Even though Rami's stats look good, I woud still go with Lampard.

if nailed on lampars is the best attacking midfielder to ever play in the premier league imo

he has always been in my team until when he started to get rotated

i would stay away as u said penalties dont come very often and indeed he is not very much involved going forward

shcurrle scoring 4 goals in the 2 international fixtures might as well imply that if chelsea create much he will score, so far chelsea hasnt created many though

I think Lampard needs to go, but

      a) it can wait a week - they have CAR this w/e and Lamps was rested last night so I think he has a good chance of playing, and

      b) Schurrle is arguably more of a rotation risk than Lampard.

I would play Lamps this week and then work Walcott into your team(with 2 freebies) if required.

Ok, which one would you start this week out of Nolan and Ravel?

Head says Nolan - more nailed on, seasoned goal poacher, playing just off the striker etc etc.

However, delving into the stats, Ravel's heat map is actually more advanced, he's had more touches and received more passes in the final third, he's had the same number of goal attempts and created more chances. And he's scored 4 goals in 4 games compared to Nolan's 0 in 6 (Nolan has actually had no shots on target in the last 4).

Enough to back my gut and bench Nolan?

          The problem is, who for?

I want to keep enough cash for Mirallas -> Walcott next week, which leaves 5.4m available for his replacement. Only options imo are Brady, Amalfitano and Januzaj, and Brady is currently injured, Amalfitano has tough fixtures also, so Januzaj is probably the only one worth getting this week, and there's quite a lot of risk attached to him.

Reckon Nolan -> Januzaj (SOT, STO) and then -> Amalfitano/Brady in GW10 if it all goes wrong is a good plan, or a waste of a transfer?

Cheers - I probably should have made that move last night to save the 0.1m, although at least I should be able to wait until Fri/Sat now to catch any last minute injury news I guess.

One advantage of saving is that I'm still not totally convinced Mirallas should be sold, and I'd have the option of funding Nolan -> Walcott with a defensive downgrade.

rushed transfer deal to avoid price hikes,
had Brady and will most probably pick him up again soon,

Amalfitano is another good choice i'll be keeping an eye on

Just had a quick look at your team. Ozil, Wally & Giroud is too much money in ARS attack imo, so I think if you want Wally then one of the others need to go. Probably Ozil.

As for this week, I would either save your transfer or sort out one of your non-playing defenders (Collins/Chester), as Turner has (ars) and Dawson is under threat so you may not be able to field 11.

Long term Clyne looks good, but he has a tough game this week. Perhaps Collins -> Wilson, or even Ward to raise some cash?

I have considered Paulinho Brains but not entirely convinced by him -especially when Ramsey has been a beast point-wise and is cheaper. I'll be honest - Im not entirely sold on having Eriksen either but Ive around 8.5 to spend and not sure where to invest it.

Townsend has been getting minutes but no points... and I can see him getting less minutes as games go on... perhaps Barkley at £5.6m and use the spare cash elsewhere, defence maybe?

Walcott is the one you want but its a risk until he is fully fit, and with Ozil getting a knock the only safe option for this week is Giroud. Having said that if i were on a WC and get in Walcott and risk it, but not at the expense of Oscar or Michu.

    Boruc (Davies)
Kosc - Rio* - Nastastic (BTurner, Chester*)
    Michu, Ozil*, HBA*, Jedinak (Brady*)
    Rooney, Suarez, Sturridge

So my main issue is getting 11 players out this weekend, with doubts (*) here, there and everywhere... but what's the priority, the defence or midfield?

    A) Chester to Vlaar (FT)
    B) Brady to Barkley (FT)

I'm reluctant to spend hits on players that MIGHT play, especially in light of the above, but what about this?

    C) Rio + HBA --> Baines + Barkley (-4)

I agree. Moyes is a caution first manager, so we wont be seeing free flowing goals from them regularly.
RVP will never merit this price in a Moyes side. Especially when Suarez, Benteke, Sturridge Lukaku etc are so much cheaper.

That's the point isn't it. I dallied with him earlier in the season, but you can spend the money much more wisely when there are players like Sturridge, Suarez, Lukaku, Benteke who can all probably keep up with him for less.

    Is it too much arsenal?

Is it "wrong" tribling up in the most attacking team in the league?

    Vorm / Boruc

    Terry / Dawson / Chico / Turner / Chester

    Morrison / Barkley / Michu / Özil / Walcott

    Sturridge / Rooney / Giroud

Depends if you value H2H games. Tripling carries a higher risk of individual bad weeks if Arsenal have an off week.

Over several weeks it'll even itself out if they're all good scorers overall (which I think they will be)
