FFS Paddy Power Cup IX and Members Cup IV – Second Round Draws

We roll out the draw for the Second of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, after the First Round took place over Gameweek 28. Please not that, as explained in this initial article, these ties won’t take place until Gameweek 30 due to the numerous blanks in the fixture schedule this weekend:

In the Fantasy Football Scout IX, reigning champion Tdubb05 is through to the next round and will face Denis Denis when the action resumes. Looking at some of the other former champions, MCH takes on BroTown_Tindersticks, Jonty is up against coletrickle88, donnellyc squares up to Carlton Palmer and Gooner Dave takes on Fitzy.

The tie of the round sees two of the top 500 FPL managers go head-to-head.Skeptical, currently sitting in 136th spot in the overall standings, take on Lardy, who isn’t far behind in 470th spot.

You can click here to check out the second round draw, which gets underway next weekend, whilst the full list of first round results can be found here.

In the Members Cup IV, reigning champion Acqufresca fell at the first hurdle. He was knocked out by Caladan Brood, who now faces Quite Big Dunc next time around, whilst another former winner, Fuzzy Dunlop, takes on Droginexile. The top-ranked manager is 2nd Man – currently sitting in 380th overall, he’s up against Fitzy (39,504) for a place in the next round.

You can click here to check out the second round draw, which gets underway next weekend, whilst the full list of first round results can be found here.

As always, good luck to all those still in with a shout of the silverware.

Is going without Aguero over the next few a make or break decision? He's a differential now but surely most will jump on him from next week but with his injury record and the amount of games to play can you even count on him to start all the league games? MP was pretty regretful last time he played Aguero when he didn't have too and he got hurt again shortly after. I'm guessing he'll be even more careful this time around and try to save Aguero for the big/tough games meaning he's at risk of seeing reduced mins for the games that would normally bring the most points. Knowing all that would you ever risk handing him the (c)? 12 mil for someone you'll never (c) seems a little crazy or am I crazy?

FPL is just a game, not worth getting crazy over it. Ha. So along that line, if going without Aguero makes you feel comfy and happy, I'd say go for it.

Its a game but there's also money on the line so I'd like to win that much more. I guess Aguero is like the RVP blanket of old.

The problem is that if you dont buy him now, him price will sky rocket towards 13 in no time. Some people are bringing him in already!

DGW against one two v good defensive teams so not for me. Newcastle tend to be a bit erratic too. Lukaku has good fixtures on either side of the DGW too so you don't need to transfer out immediatley

And then you could go nicely back to Adebayor in GW 33. That spot would be fine until the end of the season

Getting him in GW30, front 3 will be Suarez, Sturridge, Aguero.

When he's fit he's as close to guaranteed goals/points as you can get in FPL. Get him early and his price will rocket for you too. Added bonus of the double in GW31 as well.

    4) Lukaku + Yaya + Baines

Is this a good plan for the next couple of weeks ?

GW30 : Rooney OUT, Sturridge IN
GW31: Rodriguez and Mata OUT, Aguero and Sterling IN

    Cech, Davis
    Vlaar, Chambers, Dawson, Gabbidon, Coleman
Hazard, Mata, Puncheon, Yaya Toure, Nolan
    Suarez, Rodriguez, Rooney

Or can you see a better plan ? Thanks in advance 🙂 Have 1.6m in the bank

Personally I wouldn't want Flanagan, Mata, Johnson and Mirallas in my team. Better Chelsea options than Azpi as well. Its an ok team DGW wise but I'm just not convinced by the long term appeal of some of those players.

PS. Don't get me started on Kim and Wittaker 😉

Yeah Its not ideal but other than Johnson they are all in my team already so I don't see a need to take hits to swap out DGW players. God Kim and Whittaker have been the baine of my FF existence. Think They'll be in my team till the end at this rate lol.

Don't get me wrong if he wasn't so expensive and I didn't have mess up the rest of my team to do it he would be there. At the moment the only logical way to do it would be Suarez out. I may do that in DGW 32 possibly as I think 2 Livrepool forwards from that point on is a bit risky

Yeah I think thats where its at. If you can afford to get Aguero easily then get him. If its too difficult then I can understand. However you don't want to be locked out completely and it'd be wise to have a plan B which might involve getting Aguero in perhaps not long after the DGW.

Liverpools fixtures become less consistently good come GW 32. It may not be sensible to keep 2 Liv forwards from this point on. Anyone thinking of ditching one of Suarez or Sturridge? I might. I guess at that point if Aguero has proven to be successful it may be a good time to sell Suarez as Aguero should have 2 DGW's left and that is the easiest way to do it

Hi all, looking for a few opinions on this while its quite.

Gwk 29: No transfer. Field 9 (including Puncheon and Snodgrass so possibly 7)

Gwk 30: Mata and Adebayor -> Yaya and Aguero, no hit.

Gwk 31: Koscielny, Lallana and Snodgrass -> Baines, AJ and Sterling, 8 point hit.

Leaves me with 8 dgwk players plus Boruc, Cahill and Hazard. I could lose Cahill instead of Koscielny and have 9 dgwk players alternatively..

Would really appreciate thoughts on it kind sirs..

I'm in a silly situation where I have TOO MANY GW29 PLAYERS 😕 I have 10 players and two free transfers. The position where I don't have a GW29 player is in goal, the most annoying position to use a free transfer. Some say I could sell Adrian for a GW29 goalie (Speroni perhaps?), this way I will get an extra fixture. Others say I shouldn't bother with the extra fixture and downgrade Cazorla (max 5.7m) to help fund Yaya and Aguero for their 'better' DGW31 fixtures. What do you guys recommend?

    GW29
    10 players

    GK. Mannone/Adrian blank

    Ivan, Azpi, Ward, Chambers, Olsson?
    Hazard, Mata, Lallana, Snoddy?
    Lambert

    Subs: Suarez, Sturridge, Cazorla
    2FT's

So far I'm leaning towards taking a punt on Januzaj who has a GW29 fixture and a DGW31. Its risky but there aren't a lot of good options for under 5.7m. Sterling is risky as well with regards to rotation and he doesn't have a GW29 fixture.

If you get Speroni you'll also get a future dgw out of him. Probably the same week as Mannone has one though.
I wouldn't mess about with Januzaj

Its not really an ideal situation is it. In some ways if Snoddy and/or Olsson are confirmed out it will solve my unusual problem. I would certainly hate to lose Adrian as he's my only West Ham cover at the moment. It just doesn't seem worthwhile to make a transfer there, especially if Palace end up conceding anyway.

For sure. Key is to know exactly what you plan to do in gw30/31 and use a trade this week to put the plan in motion. If you do need money from Caz then sell him, if not then see what you need going forward. Captaincy is more important than the team this week I reckon

The plan is to upgrade Lallana and Lambert to Yaya and Aguero from the Cazorla downgrade (which can be done after GW29). That leaves me needing to make one other transfer somewhere anytime between now and GW31. It'd prefer if this other transfer was to be made in defence where I currently have no DGW players.

Yeah. I'm still largely undecided as to whether its even a good plan. Will have to continue tinkering around to try and come up with a better solution. Especially as I'd like to keep Lallana (and bench him for the DGW)

                  hey Ryan,
you should keep an arsenal attacking player if you can manage the budget..... wilshere, ramsey [if fit] could be cheaper route

Ramsey is just about back btw. I'm actually prepared to drop an Arsenal player till their fixtures clear up. They will be having a tough time of it over the next few weeks. Terrible fixtures and poor form to boot.

Sometimes the simple solution is the best. Frankly I'm at quite a loss as to what to do. I'm not normally a fan of planning transfers so far in advance but it appears you almost have to in this situation.

I'd probably save the transfer so you can get an extra dgwer

what you need to do is determine what you want your gw 31 team to look like with how many transfers you've got plus possibly a hit and see what you need to do to get from your current team to that team

Right, so I've pretty much given up hope on FPL on the whole, but not my mini league. I'm like 50 points behind the person who's first, and the winner wins money. I know for a fact he won't get Aguero, his current front line is Sturridge - Suarez - Dzeko. I also have Sturridge and Suarez. But do I get in Aguero or not? I could get in someone like Lukaku and have a really beefy midfield. I have low total value as well. Teams linked. Any help would be good! Thanks!

Because he's not very active, and he doesn't have the money in the bank. He captains Suarez every week as well, which is pretty good for me.

Plus he never makes a normal transfer. If he's got 2/3 players out for a few weeks, he won't transfer them, he'll just make some other weird change.

Stay well clear. The lineup changes every week and there are no clear standouts. If pushed I'd back Zaha in the pure hope that he becomes the centre piece of the teams attack and critical to Ole's plan. Unfortunately we simply can back the chances of that actually happening. Noone to me is a little too ordinary if you get what I mean.

Someone made a comment earlier about being rushed back last time ... yes he scored and looked good by Pellegrini can't afford to have him injured again. He'll get subbed at 60 minutes often and will probably have the easy games off, or a 20 minute cameo at best!

With City knocked out of CL soon, there will be no further excuse to "rest" Kun. The fear of injury won't make Pelle sub him off early either. Kun is a 90 min player when fit.

Coleman is more important, if you want to get gim you could go Sterling over Gerrard, Azpil over Inaa...etc to free up money 🙄

so you'd drop AJ and get Nolan instead?

would you go Kos instead? or who in that same price bracket?

Morning TW I've had similar considerations. Mannone just pipped it for me with future DGW's coming up (also have Boruc)
I have Nolan and plan to keep.
Yaya an amazing player but personally think some tough fixtures coming up. Already have Kolarov but do question rotation risk although good attacking potential Wouldn't swap with Silva.
