The final instalment in our series of Big Numbers articles focussing on Gameweeks 1-3 is rolled out this evening. After assessing the fortunes of defenders and midfielders, we now turn our attentions to the men up front – Chelsea and Southampton’s summer signings come under assessment, as do Everton’s in-form budget striker and the contrasting fortunes of a pair of Manchester-based front men.
AVL have terrible fixtures coming up, would not use Vlaar/Guzan. Not sure how severe Dier's problem is? Doubling up on SWA for trip to CHE? Not sure about that tbh. Rest looks OK
guzan is a solid pick as he'll get loads of save points. vlaar is poor though.
OK I hear ye for Guzan but Vlaar must go
For sure! I made .1 on him and hate losing it. But ur right, he's not going up sny time soon
I hear ya. Guzman is for future rotation. Trying to make money on Sig and Dyer and will replace Dyer
Anybody still sticking with Rooney for upcoming GW? And who's your captain? I have Rooney but will captain Costa or maybe even Sterling
Yeah im giving Rooney one last chance this weekend. I'll still probably move him for Balotelli soon anyways.
Sterling or Costa will be my captain.Dumped Rooney b4 he went down. I wanna see what shakes up at ManU. Thinking costa for Captain if fit. If not, sterling or Balo!
Rooney will probably be my captain.
Anyone else not using their wildcard or taking a hit this week? 😀
dont count your chickens just yet Innsie 😉
Meh. I'll settle for Caulker's goal off my bench if someone else gets injured.
It's like waiting for Bojan's goal 😉
😆 Its not THAT bad.
😉
ive managed to hold onto my FT this long, hoping i can keep it another two days so i have 2 next week which would be invaluable!
Nice team. Definitely try save it.
thanks!
im tempted by lovren>moreno to avoid potential drop and get moreno's rise, but other things stand out more, like the injury situation with costa/ramsey, and i may need to get rid of rooney or bring welbeck in somehow.Yeah that's too sideways. Lovren has good goal threat too, so that could burn you easily.
Actually it's valued for 4 points 😉
If Ramsey & Costa play then I might even save my FT or just do Mata-->Fab this week, so prob no WC and no hit either
ive taken a hit this week so there is less of a chance i will have to take one when the competition starts 😎
True commitment AR 🙂
Not me. Siggy first sub, should complications arise 😉
You like bench points? 😉
Same here. If he scores on the bench i'd be happy too as he'll continue to rise. never understood why people get so annoyed when their subs score, i cherish it as it means i can ride the rises regardless of whether they score or not. Worked for Clyne for exampe, who i benched GW1, and hopefully might happen with Wisdom soon too
No WC but may take a hit to get Sterling in. I'm thinking not at the moment because post Int break players are often jaded. Or is this just wishful thinking?
Pretty risky to go without Sterling this week...
Doh! You've dented my resolve. Not that it was hard to do.
But who to shift, Eriksen or Schurrle?Ooh tough. Schurrle I reckon.
Yeah me too. Though if Sterling goes up 1 more I won't have the cash. Would like to wait til Sat night (NZ time) but it's a risk with price changes this year
Cool, another Kiwi. 🙂 I'd just do it before the price changes tomorrow, just to be safe.
Both. Probably Schurrle though as he may not even play.
And I've got three Chelsea. It's just Eriksen has been a disappointment and is dropping in price. Still, it has to be Schurrle logically
Thoughts on my WC team
Krul
Moreno, Ivan ,Baines
Sterling, Siggy, Rambo, Fabs, Gerrard
Costa, Naismith
Elliot, Weimann, N.Taylor, Moore
Counting on my Def & Mid to pick up slack from rotating Naismith & Weimann, will play 4-5-1 when Swa have good fixtures, Weimann could become Ulloa.Might switch Gerrard to Silva?
Rambo - Silva if injured
He's tweeted 'I'll be alright'
Just wondering about doubling up on Liverpool mids. Worked out last week, that's for sure
everyone wrote Gerrard off last year and look what happened he hasn't lost his passing skills, set pieces as well are still great just lacking pace but will still score big
I'm looking to get Liverpool players in at the moment, not out. City can wait a few more weeks
Cool team will stay as is then
One of the most cool teams ive seen. I like the Gerrard pick alot and am thinking of trying to work him in although i'll probably need to swing more than 2 trades to make it happen. Baines is a nice choice too. All round solid team but you're gambling abit with Naismith and Weimann keeping their form up.
thanks mate, i'm happy to play 4 at the back if needed. Welbeck may become an option too
Hey guys, currently on WildCard, really considering doing Ramsey > Silva, is that stupid? Feel that not only is he kinda injured, has tough fixtures and by the time the fixtures clear up, Walcott will be back and he could get a role slightly more defensive.
Sorry for the repostI'm debating the same switch! Tough call for sure
if he plays i would keep him, and anyway to Silva is a bit of a sideways move for me. Ramsey can always conjure up the odd goal and assist imo
Not stupid.
I'm considering Ramsey to ADM atm. I just watched the highlights of the ARG-GER game so am a bit impressed right now though!
Dear All,
Please Rate My Team
Begovic (McCarthy)
Duff Wilson Clyne (PVA Caulker)
ADM Fab Ramsey Sterling (Dyer)
Ballotelli Naismith Costa (C)
Should I make any more improvement? should I include one of City Players for long term plan?
Thank you so muchLooks pretty good. Wouldn't double up in Stoke defense though. Despite their good fixtures.
Thank you Eden, but i don't think I have 2 Stoke defenders. Duff (BUR), Clyne (SOU), PVA (SUN), Wilson (STO), Caulker (QPR). Am I RIght?
think he means begovic
I see. Thank you for enlighten me Ride. Will it be a good idea to sub Wilson with Chester then?
Are you on WC? if thats the case i would downgrade a midfielder to siggy and upgrade defence.
Looks really good mate. That's almost exactly what I would pick as well if I was on a WC, but i already have most of that team 🙂
If I were you I'd want to bring in another 5.0 defender though rather than having 3 4.5-4.9 defs. I'd consider trying to bring in janmaat 5.0 if you can since you don't have krul in goal.
In fact, maybe downgrade Bego to Krul and go for another 5.0 other than Janmaat instead of PVA. That would take care of the stoke double-up you have with wilson-bego.Thank you for your insight Rick. Much appreciated!
Here is a puzzle for you troops to mull over
Both options cost the same
A Moreno and Krul
B Jamnaat and Begovic
One covers Liverpool the other stokeother keeper the new qpr guy for 4m who may or may not play
Alex McCarthy, future England number 1
I dont see Newcastle keeping many clean sheets but is see points potential in janmatt
Was wary of a stoke defender as wilson not 100% nailed, but can see clean sheets home and away, probably when had wilson on bench, but playing bego every week i get the points
See stoke a s a good park the bus option away from homeThey won't park the bus away from home IMO, Hughes will be more adventurous against weaker teams; Stoke have hardly covered themselves in glory from a cleansheet perspective since he took over from TP. Based on what Gerrard said after the Spurs game, I expect Liverpool to be tighter at the back.
Liverpool
Reply fail. Cover Pool not Stoke
I'm currently on a WC. What defence would you rather have?
a) Coleman / Lovren / Clyne / Duff / Moore
or
b) Coleman / Naylor / Wilson / Robertson / PvA +0.5mA
wouldnt have coleman though.
Szczesny (Myhill)
Terry Lovren Wilsonn Dummett (bruce)
Sánchez Mata Silva (El Ah )(Coutinho)
Diego Costa Bojan Dzeko
2 free transfers and 0.5 in the bank
any transfer suggestion ?
Coutinho> siggy
Bojan> naismith
Quite unbeliveable that even with these price movements,I probably would have gained more money on wild card than ever in my fpl history!
Players I would have got: Sterling, Fabregas, Welbeck = 0.3
Players I have and has dropped: Rooney = 0.1
Players that will drop soon and I wouldn't have on my wild card: DDG, Terry, Caulker, Hazard = 0.4
Players that will rise before I'm able to get them in: Moreno = 0.1
0.9m lost there, regretting it bit now 😕wish i had saved that much, im standing at .3 but could rise significantly in if including next week
Yeah, temptation was very big as I have so much players on 'red', but just couldn't justify to wc just to get rid of Terry, DDG etc ahead of good homegame.
If it happens that Costa or Hazard is out next match, I will probably end wc'ing at last minute!
Meh, i lost rooney value too but gained fab, sterling, and looking to lose on lovren and caulker too... but, given how few rises there were i'd rather wait until the GW8 break by which time TPFL and Fiso guys will have figured it out and i can properly manipulate the gains day-by-day.
on WC
boyd-haz-ballo-welbz or fab-rodwell-kun-naismith?1st
I am on WC, Thoughts on the inj and how to improve the team?
Krul / Elliot
Ivanovic / Clyne / Moreno or Lovren / Taylor or Wilson / Duff, will he start?
Ramsey fit? / Fabregas / Sterling / Sigurdsson / Boyd
Costa / Aguero or Rooney / Naismith or Welbeck
ITB 0.0mChoose Lovren, more long-term choice imo as Moreno could become rotated with Enrique or Flanagan. I don't think Lovren is as much at risk since he's pool's No.1 CB now.
Ramsey should be fine. I'd pick Rooney or Balotelli, and Naismith until fiurther notice becuase of Welbecks fixtures being poor.
Any news on Jones please guys?
Szczesny (Myhill)
Terry Lovren Wilsonn Dummett (bruce)
Sánchez Mata Silva (El Ah )(Coutinho)
Diego Costa Bojan Dzeko
2 free transfers and 0.5 in the bank
any transfer suggestion ?
Coutinho> siggy
Bojan> naismithHaha, those two transfers are exactly the ones I did in GW1 and GW2 (along with Mata>Fab and Davis>Tadic) 🙂 I can recommend both.
I'm not a fan of Szczesny as a choice early on due to tough fixtures and Arsenal have been shipping goals too. You could downgrade to Begovic or Krul.
Not a fan of your midfield choices at all tbh. Sanchez and Mata are in poor form and Silva has tough fixtures. I'd move Mata or Sanchez on for Sterling without hesitating. Bojan has decent fixtures now but is far from certain to start. Lukaku could be a better option than Dzeko for you at 0.5 upgrade btw.
Jamie Redknapp is tipping Welbeck to do well at Arsenal. That's the kiss of death, if ever I've seen one. SELL SELL!!
I've been rating people's teams all night, would appreciate the same courtesy please:
Begovic
Clyne, Lovren, Caulker
Ramsey, Fabregas, Sterling, Tadic
Costa, Rooney, Naismith
Krul // Siggy, Wisdom, Chambers
0.5 itb, 1 FT
Leaning towards saving the FT this week, but am open to moving Rooney and Chambers on soon in particular, and potentially also Wisdom.
Thanks in advance! 🙂Looks very good. Save the trade.
your team is solid, are you going move caulker on?
siggy on the bench brave move, but logical considering you have tadicThanks. I'm keeping Caulker as he could have scored 3 by now... only Ivan has more shots on goal by a defender so far. United have been poor at marking set pieces too, especially in that Sunderland game. I think he's undervalued at 4.9 and will rise once he scores a goal to remind ppl that they're idiots for selling him. Can't believe he's on the verge of dropping again, but I'm keeping him regardless as i think he's the best 5.0 range Def after Clyne. One would be mad not to buy him at 4.9 or 4.8 imo.
Siggy is my backup for Costa or Ramsey if they are injured. Might even swap them if there is enough uncertainty with either. Just can't see Siggy having much joy at SB, but ofcourse it'll be Naismith or Tadic who get the bench in the next round (or maybe even Fabregas at City!)
Excellent team. Save FT.
Looks very good team to me. Maybe try and get a spurs player in Chadli or Lamela or defender?
Off load Chambers.
Yeah I've got that move on the table, but its not a pressing issue atm as he's been playing sporadically and getting points. If Arsenal have injury trouble at the back he could become great value too. I'm looking to move him soon though if things stay as they are as I need a bench player who is nailed on for 2 points in an emergency.
Definitely save, even if Ramsey or Costa miss a week you have siggy to cover
Nice team. I'm envious. I would absolutely save the transfer.
Best Liverpool defender? Lov or Mor?
Lovren
I've got Lovren so im saying him, but if i was on a WC i'd pick moreno simply because of how the rise/drop outlook looks atm. Lovren is the best long-term option though imo as he'll score more goals than Moreno courtesy of a certain free kick specialist.
+1
Well then, Sturridge looks like a no go now. Really wanted to bring him in captain this week.
Got to move Jovetic. Have 12.1m to spend and a FT. Other strikers are Rooney and Costa.
Any suggestions? What if its just a fake international injury?!
It very well could be. Not doing anything untill BR speaks.
Last gw the media reported that Costa expected to be out for 4-6 weeks and we know how that turned out.Big difference between Mourinho's lies and BR though... Costa was always gonna play which is why i kept him 🙂
I did keep him as well.
BR has not yet spoken about Sturridge's injury unlike Mourinho. So a wait and see atm.
Nah, not if his twitter reaction is genuine.
Could do a lot worse than Balotelli
Cheers.
Aguero?
or take a punt on Welbeck
Got the exact cash for Aguero but not sure as he has some tough games coming up.
It's City..they played well against tougher opponents last season..
Arsenal away last season 1-1
Chelsea home last season 0-1
And then there's Bayern sandwiched between the two.ohkay..then Balo is a good bet
May go Aguero at the end as will need him soon enough but those three games look tough to me.
I'd say go for Ballo
Cheers.
Rivière or Crouch.
😆
Chuck the armband on them too 🙂
That was always the plan. 😉
I'd go for Balotelli without a doubt.
Cheers.
Why is no one considering Barton at a price of 5? his stats have been impressive..
Errr..beacuase he's Joey Barton.
He has been playing well this season...A changed man maybe
A changed man?? Joey Barton??
I hate having to shift suspended players
Southampton or stoke. Who is more likely to get CS over the next 6 GW's ??
Tough one.
Southampton I think. They couldn't be more evenly matched fixture wise. Edge probably goes to Southampton since they're at home to Stoke in GW9 though. They do play at Spurs though. Tough one. I have Bego and Clyne though as both are great options.
This. Happy with Begovic and Clyne
rvp or aguero for this gw? on my wc
Wouldn't touch RVP this season. 12.5 is ridiculous for an out of form injury prone rotation risk
despite not many price risers have a feeling welbeck could go up fairly quickly, started from a very low base, and with aston villa after the city game can see him being popular.
Think its well worth having him from the start and just put up with the tough fixtures, wil be better than having to pay an extra half mil in a few weeks. you never know he could still score against city. they not invincibleI've doubts that he starts against City.
Wenger has a tendency to ease players in. Welbeck has trained for just a day with Arsenal. I reckon Wenger would want to play it safe and start with Sanchez up front with Welbeck coming in as a sub.
I feel that's the Wenger way.Started from a low base, now he's here...
Seriously though, not worth keeping him if you don't want him just to save 0.1m.
I have been losing sleep over whether to WC this week or not. Please can you help me ojut and put me out of my misery guys?
Currently have:
Foster Krul
Ivan, Debuchy, Clyne Wisdom Bartley
Sterling, Ramsey, Fab, Chadli, Siggy
Costa Fletcher Roonpig
Was thinking to get Naismith, welbeck, Lamela, Shawcross or Lovren, Bego or Mig. This would mean losing Fletcher, Roonpig, Chadli, Debuchy, Foster
Was also looking a Di Maria for Man Utd as selling roonpig
And it has gone on and on all week.
Any input appreciated? Probably late in the day to WC now anyway...Not worth a WC. Your midfield and attack is what a lot of people would choose on a WC. Defense looks decent too.
I'd look to swap fletcher with naismith, debuchy for lovren, and rooney to balotelli.. but thats just my personal preference. you sholud be able to ease those transfers in week by week if you want them though, no need to WC at all.Debuchy>Shawcross. Save WC.
Thank you so much. I can get some sleep now 🙂
Not worth losing sleep over. Debuchy to Moreno and you're fine. Deal with Fletcher next week.
Guys any suggestions on my wc team?
Begovic
Clyne Moreno ivanovic
siggy sterling hazard tadic
costa Naismith rvp
subs myhill duff king wisdomlooks a great first 11 - not a lot on the bench though but that might be the way to go
Change wisdom to moore for the long term
awesome team, but i would get rid of RVP asap. Anyone in the 10-12 range is better option than him. Heck, even Lukaku is better value imo, and wouldn't be a bad option for you to fix that shallow subs bench.
Change RVP and Hazard for Fabregas and Aguero and use the funds to strengthen the bench.
Morning Ladies & Gentleman!
Morning Siva.
Morning Siva. 🙂
Any other news on Sturridge's injury other than the scout tweet?Ben Dinnery @BenDinnery
Scan results have confirmed Daniel Sturridge will be out for between 2/3 weeks with grade one hamstring tear #LFC
--
that's it.Oooh..tear it is. No chance then.
Cheers Siva. 🙂
Morning!!
Morning Siva , Pressers Day
Who's pressers are today?
4 players injured.. Jovetic, Jones, Ramsey & Costa.. kind of fecked!
What do people think of Zaha?
meh, pick dyer instead
Most people have Siggy. Wouldn't be too interested in doubling up on Swan midfielders
I think he has a funny name.
Is Baines + Mirallas + Naismith overkill? I feel as though they are evertons 3 most attacking players. I can swap mirallas for tadic but not convinced on tadic tbh. I'd rather follow form over fixtures.
Everton have been scoring for fun and you'd expect those three to be involved when they score.
Next two fixtures look good as well. Not a terrible idea.Baines + Mirallas + Welbeck..
Can't afford unless I re-jig my team
I would wait for their defense to become tighter before getting Baines.
Morning, Gents. 🙂
On my WC. I had Welbeck @ 6.9 so now reluctant to leave him as he's a terrific value. These are my 2 options for Front 8.
Team A:
Hazard, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Tadic, Mirallas
Costa, Welbeck, Balotelli
Team B:
Hazard, Sterling, Sigurdsson, Tadic, Zaha
Costa, Welbeck, kun Aguero
So basically it's Balotelli+Mirallas vs Aguero+Zaha. Option A is strong but worth noting that in that set up I'll have to bench more expensive player every GW. Would you say still it's the better one?
Cheers in advance. 🙂B is better, money on the pitch
But Balotelli could get a lot of points over the next few gws. Difficult I'd still go BHey there ADN!
I like option B personally though there's not much in it. Aguero is proven and essential if healthy, while Zaha could prove terrific value and is an easy bench saving you a little headache. Nice front 8 either way though!B
Mirallas will be a rotation risk once Europa starts and there's Aguero in B.Aguero, always Aguero 🙂
Has to be B if Aguero stays fit.
Good morning/afternoon/evening DZ! I've been pretty good during this international break by not tinkering too much or making any early transfers but as the new game week gets closer I feel my trigger finger itching
Somebody talk me out of the following move:
Jovetic + Ramsey OUT
Naismith + Di Maria IN (-4) + 2.6 ITB
Would give me money to use next week to do Rooney > Aguero with my FT. Thoughts?Like
Don't think Naismith will be a season long keeper. Di Maria has massive potential if played further forward IMHO and Ramsey could go either way, so many variablesSurely not a season keeper. Will find a way to bring in Welbeck for him in a few weeks as long as his price doesn't get out of hand!
Sounds a good plan to me.
Thanks for the validation guys. Will hold tight until pressers before pulling the trigger
Why not just switch Naismith and Jove and wait and see on Ramsey fitness?
I know this gets asked a lot, but are there any 4.5 - 5.0 priced midfielders worth having that aren't just bench fodder? I'm looking at:
1) King - seems to be nailed on and involved in forward play
2) Jones (Burnley) - quite impressed with him against United
3) Albrighton - simply because he has played BPL before and was "ok" at Aston Villa, but don't nothing this year
4) Quinn - will probably lose his place once HBA and Ramirez are up and running
Thoughts?Barton, Arfield
JWP @ 5.0 for the time being though unsure of the effect Mane will have on the side though reckon he'll be worked into the squad slowly
Well, I have Steven Davis.
I plan to do Ramsey-Austin-Ferdinand -> Sterling-Balotelli-Duff for -4. Yes or No?
which gives me the team:
Bego Gilks
Clyne Coloccini PvA Duff Wisdom
Hazard Sterling Lamela Siggy Davis
Rooney Costa BalotelliI like that a lot actually. Good riddance to your QPR players 😆
Hold off on Ramsey to Sterling if Rambo is in. The other 2 transfers looks good.
You should trade Lamela or Hazard to Sterling instead. The other two trades make sense but im not sure its worth taking a hit in defense.
10 years, 12 days ago
How's this look for my WC?
Krul/guz
Dier, Moreno, Clyne, Vlaar,Taylor
Ramsey, fab, sterling, sig, dyer
Balo, Welbeck, costa
