A tasty home tie with the bottom-of-the-table team saw Fantasy managers transfer in Arsenal players in their droves prior to today’s games, but thanks to the heriocs of Rob Green, the vast majority will be bitterly disappointed.

The West Ham keeper made a fantastic 10 saves as he kept the Gunners at bay time and again before Alex Song finally made the breakthrough for Arsene Wenger’s side with an 88th minute header.

On the back of last week’s impressive 3-0 win at Eastlands, Samir Nasri was acquired by 172,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, Marouanne Chamakh by 107,000 and Cesc Fabregas by 48,000, as many expected a rout against Avram Grant’s strugglers. Indeed, our Captain’s Poll was fairly indicative of this optimism, with all three being in the top four slots for Gameweek 10.

Song, on the other hand, was brought in by a mere 4,000 managers, despite his goal at Man City last Sunday. Bearing in mind he is owned by only 2.6% of FPL bosses, the fact he has outscored the aforementioned players shouldn’t, therefore, have too much effect on the overall team rankings.

Song has now found the net 3 times in the league already this season, and given that his previous season’s best has been 1 goal, he’s showing a fair eye for goal this time round. He seems to have been given a remit to roam further forward than he’s used to, and so far it’s paying off.

Arsenal have now won their last five games in all competitions, but are making hard work of things at the Emirates in the league of late. Their last three home matches has seen a loss and two wins by just the one goal against opponents they have been expected to dispatch of with ease. Gameweek 11 allows them the opportunity to remedy that, as Newcastle make a trip to the Emirates.

Results elsewhere mean the much-maligned Green can take no consolation at all in his display, as fellow strugglers Wolves win over Man City gives them a three point gap over the Hammers at the bottom. Still, there’s always a bright side, Rob. At least you don’t do this every week.

Just want to make sure Im not having a brain fart here, please assist i making sure im right about this:

    I bought tevez at 10.4

he got as high as 11.0

when he dropped to 10.9, my selling price went from 10.7 to 10.6

so when he drops to 10.8, i still can sell at 10.6 right?

i have a move to make with no money to spare, I want the luxury to see elmander get through his match fit tomorrow, so I want to make sure i dont have to bring him in before tevez drops. So I guess if thats serious, then im a serious sonofabitch.

You have a point. He likes the money in the defence. I can see him selling VDV soon. He won't sell the back 3 though & that's where he could fund Fabs. Bent is another option.

I'm starting to wonder if Fabregas has gained some sort of mythical status of FPL. At 11.9m he is expensive and everybody seems to be trying their best to get him into their teams. He played 90 mins today against the bottom of the league team and returned 3 points. I am guilty of this as I have him in my team but I am starting to think it's a bad move. People are moving Malouda out to bring Fabs in, but why? Malouda is fit and is returning good points and is cheaper. Is Fabs going to bring in more points over the rest of the season that Malouda???? I'm thinking of ditching Fabs now.

        Well tell me why?

Yes he had a fantastic season last year, but prior to that? And this season hasn't exactly been off to a flying start has it. I'm just thinking at 11.9m, with Nani and Malouda already in my midfield, I could strengthen up elsewhere and get somebody like VDV or Adam in midfield at a much lower cost who are proving themselves this season already.

As long as he stays fit he will score higher than all other mid fielders and he is more consistent so a better captain choice. Today was just an bad day.

but it shouldn't have been, that's my point. He is supposedly fit, playing against bottom team in the league and they only manage a 1-0 win at home. I think I have been swept up by Fabregas fever and in reality Nasri will probably return as many points as Fabs over the rest of the season but at a much lower cost.

Well transfer him out then and let the rest of us climb the rankings. I captained him today, along with Drogba last week. And given the games, i would do so everytime. Football is often labelled a funny ol game, and you dont always get what you expect! But more often than not, these expensive, quality players will deliver big returns against so called lesser sided. Enjoy when they arrive, feel hard done by when they dont, and move on!

At the end of the day. Nani thought he was fouled and then handled the ball. If no penalty is given it should be a caution for unsporting behaviour to Nani. Play at that point should have been re-started with a freekick to Spurs (it seems the advantage law was played at this stage). Its just a mess.

Stop worrying about Liverpool. Virtually debt free and a clean slate, re-build will take time but it will happen.

£1bn of debt would worry me, especially when £1m per month is tied up on currently terrible striker, Ngog is in better form. Plus that statue of Sir Matt Busby outside your ground, former LFC captain. Go kiss his feet and kiss the feet of a Scouse.

Usually? That happens at every single corner or free kick into the box and the 'usual' outcome is NOT a penalty. Man alive, you United fans and the penalties you should have got...

Nani was fouled, but he went down late. He grabbed the ball on the way down, like lots of players do, but Clattenberg didn't see it. So you play the whistle. Why would anyone be blushing except Gomez?

Where's the one where he then hanballed it, threw himself about on the floor like he had been tazered whilst the rest of team harassed the ref, then proceeded to get up and unsportingly just about put the ball in the net whilst celebrating like an arrogant c*nt?

I'm surprised about the low level of football intelligence of some people in here and other forums, fair enough be biased towards your team.

But saying that Clattenburg would be favouring Man U is pretty stupid, the man is a Newcastle fan, he is not even allowed to referee their games.
And there are no Newcastle fans that would favour Man U, quite the opposite!

That's what bothers me, O'Shea is rotated, Evra is off form, Vidic is too expensive, and Ferdinand will be crocked if the wind changes.

Vidic is definitely the pick out of that back four. He'll score again this season, possibly more than once, and there is every chance the bonus judges recognize him like they did 2 or 3 seasons ago.

Too expensive for me though, can't have them all.
