The pre-match build-up may not have centred around on-pitch matters, but the ruthless performance of Man City at Craven Cottage this afternoon soon put paid to any thoughts Mark Hughes may have had of vengeance.

City came into this game having failed to score in their previous two games and with just three goals in their last five. Within half an hour, though, the Carlos Tevez-inspired visitors were three-nil up and coasting as their former boss (and the on-looking Diego Maradona) saw Fulham played off the park.

More that a hint of bitterness hung over this game as Hughes spoke of his treatment at the hands of the Abu Dhabi-owned club, following last season’s sacking:

They made the change with the view that they wanted to accelerate the process of getting success. That doesn’t seem to have happened. I know what I left behind, that the club and the group of players I had there was good enough to hit the targets I was given. I knew they had to spend significantly more money last summer – that opportunity was going to be given to myself. It wasn’t.

With two goals and an assist, Tevez also bagged the 3 Bonus Points, boosting his Fantasy Premier League tally to 85 points and making him the third-highest scoring player in the game. The irony that Hughes was the man who brought him to the club will not have been lost on many as Fulham, deprived of their two main strikers through injury, struggled to make an impact. A deflected Zoltan Gera strike offered little comfort for the home side, but was at least enough to prevent City chalking up their fourth clean sheet on the trot.

In the closest-run season for a long time, City now sit just three points off the top, in spite of recent criticism over their playing style. Mark Hughes, on the other hand, sits fourth from bottom, with only goal difference keeping Fulham out of the drop zone.

What a difference a year makes.

I used to enjoy this sorry game. 😈

Tevez is by far and away the luckiest player in this game.... One offside goal and a flukey deflection and suddenly he has 16 points. Although I'm sure that applebonkers has already been on this point.... Tevez is top scorer and all but about 2 of his goals have had a massive element of luck about them.

Why is it a common theme on this website to correct peoples spellings if they beat you in an argument.

hes scored quite a few good goals this season and remember that hes playing with the least attacking midfield in the world behind him so his service is hardly gona be xavi/iniesta level

Kakuta, Sturridge and that retard Kalou..... Hopefully at least.

Carlo has said that Kakuta will definitely start, along with Bruma, Josh and Patta van Aanolt... Absolutely no need to play any of Malouda, Drogba or Anelka.

Esssh you need the exact opposite. What you need is some players who actually care about the club, like Terry, rather a bunch of mercenaries who have been bought and are happy to sit on their 100k a week. Develop a youth team is the only way out of the buying cycle.

Id like to think if i didnt make my moves on Saturday I would have sold Drogba on Sunday.
                  Probably not.

Them goals he got in CL were really what made me keep him.
City away again next week seems to suit them. hmmm.

Yep my biggest regret this GW and last was not playing him. Anyway back as number 1 next GW.

I worked out missed out on an additional 20pts if I had chosen right captain and right goalie. Sometimes its worth the risk! Still good old Tev today.

I think ditching Drogba is a mistake,if you watched the game you would have seen that he looks to be getting back fully fit and shaking off the maleria. He hasn't scored in a while and if you were a striker you would know the longer you go without a goal the hungrier you get and just want to rip defences to pieces. Plus Foster had a really good day and Newcastle dont know how to keep a cs (no offence Atilla).

Infact the game really was Drog vs Foster. Foster won but Drog was desperately unlucky thought he deserved more bonus points than Ferguson and Malouda but that's just me.

Ballack was a legend at chelsea, fans love him, maybe he came to chelsea after his peak but he still did a great job week in week out..

stupid russian didnt offer him a contract, why cant the owner just be a owner, messing around with team selection..

personally did not think Ballack was as good as you make out, certainly not deserving of legend status!! He was good in a very good team.

I am really hoping for an Everton 1-0 win tomorrow (At least). Arteta to score the penalty and get the 3 BP's and if Coleman wants to earn the penalty then so be it. But I need 11 from Arteta tomorrow to win my H2H, How do you rate my chances? Slim? Just a Goal CS and 3 BP's thats all.

If his form hasn't much improve, Arteta will play 45 minutes.

        BTW I think it's a 0-0 match, but both 1-0 and 0-1 is possible.

      Good week!

Slightly disappointed with captain choice but realistically was only gonna be Nani if not Fabs, so a win in that respect. Annoying that Foster is on my bench but that would have been a bad choice without the benefit of hindsight i guess!

Two free transfers this week too, hmmm - gonna start trying to figure out how to fit RVP into my plans i think.

Your rank suggest otherwise! I plan 4 GWs in advance but it never ever comes off as things change. Ive been "planning" to do Bale to VDV and Arteta to Cahill since last Christmas but I never get around to it!!!
