The pre-match build-up may not have centred around on-pitch matters, but the ruthless performance of Man City at Craven Cottage this afternoon soon put paid to any thoughts Mark Hughes may have had of vengeance.

City came into this game having failed to score in their previous two games and with just three goals in their last five. Within half an hour, though, the Carlos Tevez-inspired visitors were three-nil up and coasting as their former boss (and the on-looking Diego Maradona) saw Fulham played off the park.

More that a hint of bitterness hung over this game as Hughes spoke of his treatment at the hands of the Abu Dhabi-owned club, following last season’s sacking:

They made the change with the view that they wanted to accelerate the process of getting success. That doesn’t seem to have happened. I know what I left behind, that the club and the group of players I had there was good enough to hit the targets I was given. I knew they had to spend significantly more money last summer – that opportunity was going to be given to myself. It wasn’t.

With two goals and an assist, Tevez also bagged the 3 Bonus Points, boosting his Fantasy Premier League tally to 85 points and making him the third-highest scoring player in the game. The irony that Hughes was the man who brought him to the club will not have been lost on many as Fulham, deprived of their two main strikers through injury, struggled to make an impact. A deflected Zoltan Gera strike offered little comfort for the home side, but was at least enough to prevent City chalking up their fourth clean sheet on the trot.

In the closest-run season for a long time, City now sit just three points off the top, in spite of recent criticism over their playing style. Mark Hughes, on the other hand, sits fourth from bottom, with only goal difference keeping Fulham out of the drop zone.

What a difference a year makes.

I hadn't even noticed Pederson had gone 10,10,2 before today. Now everyone will be taking notice.

I think I'm going to swap Adam out for a different midfielder under 6m soon. Plenty of options!

I'm starting to think that my keepers are my weakest position.

    Foster, Krul

Looking through the December run, they rotate home and away perfectly, but look at their fixtures...

Foster - TOT, NEW, MUN, ARS
Krul - CHE, LIV, MCY, WHU

Awful! Of those 8, I'll only really want to play the home keeper in the Newcastle and West Ham match.

Need a new goalie combo. Gordon, Jussi looks great, but I can't spare the transfers... Looks like I'll just have to make do, or get a temporary fix (i.e. Robinson or Gordon for GW20 + 21)

Something to keep my mind on. But who knows though what my team will be like in GW20...

I think you should just play foster every week, he's had a CS against teams like CHE, LIV, MCY already.68 pts this season. I have hart but would rather have had foster and the extra cash.

How's everyone doing with their goalkeeper rotation. I've had Foster and Robinson for quite a while (Hahnemaan for first 2 gameweeks or something) and have managed 70. Only 4 less than playing Hart every week and more than playing Cech. Saying that, i would have 68 if I'd just played Foster every week anyway....

Urrrghh! I feel a bit ill. I've dropped from 11k to 65k in 3 GWs. A mighty 38 points this week with Arteta and Coleman to play.
I definitely became obsessed with not taking points hits.
Did ACole OUT Vidic IN last night.
Should I do Arteta OUT VDV IN for a 4 point hit, or give Arteta one more week home WBA?

Any thoughts out there on best midfielder under 7 mil?
N'Zog, yeah but I'm thinking from GW16 it has to be Gamst-P what with his form and fixtures.
Is Bale worth 7 if you already have VdV?

Yes I did just bring Konchesky in, and no I am not going to play him this weekend.

All to save 0.1 on Elmo. Great transfer.

Another terrible week! 43pts with Jags to play! Thinking of transferring early to avoid price rises, and its time to ditch out of form players too.. How do these sound

    Odemwingie to Elmander
    Malouda to VDV

Was going to do these transfers before this GW, but wanted to avoid the hit.. Silly me.. So should I hold off for a couple of days? I f I did them now I'd be left with .4 in the bank

If you saw the first 10-15 minutes you'd have thought we'd get battered on the break but Villa just have no strikers. After that we played ok, scored at the right time and then rode our luck a little. The defence in general were a lot better today, Nelsen was superb. Other than him Pedersen obviously had a good game as did Jason 'Dead Eye' Roberts believe it or not 🙂

Yeah i agree but its impossible to be so certain fabs was the best if he had one good half and an average half and that vdv was bad when he had not much less of a period of ascendancy within the game than fabs. He wasnt as good as fabs i admit but did anyone else even come close other than the aforementioned gallas?

Who should I get in in midfield for £4.8m I have been making a fair few transfers this year 23 total but now I am fairly happy with my team as long as they keep their places and don't get injured my team at the minute is Begovic,Carson,Coleman,Bardsley,Simpson,P.Jones,Konchesky,Nani,Fabregas,Ferguson,Albrighton,Van der Vaart,Drogba,Torres,Tevez I have made my defense weak to try fit in all these big names as you can see the most expensive defender I have is Konchesky at £5m and now i'm thinking of just selling Ferguson for a more attack minded midfielder and I have £0.5m in the bank, this week for the first time this season I broke the 100,000 barrier and intend to keep climbimg , I wasn't happy about Elmander's big week as a lot of people got him in but Tevez pulled that back today, so far i'm on 76 points this week with Bardsley and Coleman still to play, anyway i'm wondering who will Birmingham play more often Hleb or Bowyer also was considering Barton,Thomas or even Gera if he will start but all look like big gambles I could downgrade one of my big players ie. Torres,Drogba,Fabregas,Tevez,Nani or Van der Vaart and try fit in a better mid price midfielder like Pederson or Lee and maybe a mid price striker like Davies but I just don't know i'll probably just go for a £4.8m midfielder any ideas?

GCSE Geography by AQA.... nightmare.... A major part of the course was learning a few case studies about volcanoes and earthquakes, and there was a big ass question on the paper each year asking for a case study on either a volcano or an earthquake. And naturally, I was the spacko who misread the question and wrote a page on some volcano in South America, when they asked for something about an earthquake. Spazzer.

Yeah, you've probably taken this 'either very expensive or very cheap players' thing too far.

I'm not sure I like Torres [given his injury record and Liverpool's ongoing rubbishness] more than someone like Carroll or one of the Bolton strikers even if they were the same price. But at double the price having Torres is indefensible.

I'd probably get, say, Davies in for Torres, then look to improve on Ferguson for a Bale, Lee, N'Zogbia type & longer-term probably beef up one of your keepers and a defender or two.

Right, this seems absolutely ridiculous but last week I knee-jerked after a poor week and doubled up on Man City defence with Toure despite already having Kolarov and I also got in Odemwingie.

Funnily enough, now I don't want both these players. I don't like the look of two Man City defenders in my team and I've decided having players from your own team in your fantasy football team is annoying as you get disappointed for both fantasy and in real life if their not performing.

So would it be stupid to do Odemwingie > Elmander and Toure > whoever?! Samba or someone!

Striker change is the one I'll probably do (I'm guessing you're opinion on this is more informed than mine - what's your thinking on Odemwingie?). Do you have to make the defender change for finance? If not I'd wait and save the 4pts.
