“The times they are a-changin’.”

Bob Dylan, October 1963

This song was written almost half a century ago but Dylan clearly had what’s to come right on the precipice of his mind. That’s right, Johan Elmander is leading the captain’s poll. If ever there was a sign that times were and are changing in this Fantasy season, this would certainly be it. We’re not in Kansas anymore…

“Come writers and critics who prophesize with your pen, and keep your eyes wide the chance won’t come again.”

It’s taken him a fair bit longer than expected to settle into life in the Premier league, but alongside Chung-Yong Lee, Elmander is somewhat perversely proving Gary Megson makes a great scout if an ill-bodied manager. This season, under the stewardship of Owen Coyle, he has begun to flourish, much to the surprise of the many who had previously written the Swede off as a Premier League flop. With 8 goals, 5 assists and 13 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Bonus Points Elmander is the current value pick for the season and your lead candidate for the armband.

Evidently, following the lack of assurances the “obvious” picks have been able to provide in recent weeks – the next step in line is to play a bit more fast and loose and bank on a form player against a defence which is known for conceding the odd goal or two.

“The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast, the slow one now, will later be fast”

It’s not like this is some kind of runaway victory for Elmander though, evidence so far points to an incredibly close race with Nani a mere handful of votes in the wake of the Bolton striker, and with good cause considering his home form and the visit of Blackburn for him and his United cohorts this week. The news of Newcastle’s second string centre-back pairing sees Didier Drogba well in the reckoning for another crack at the whip as well.

Rafael Van Der Vaart, Carlos Tevez and even Wayne Rooney following his penalty at Rangers, are also well and truly in the reckoning.

If you’ve not let us know of your decision, or you’ve not yet made one, why not stew on it briefly and then head back to the frontpage and rock the vote. Make sure it counts.

“And the first one now will later be last, for the times they are a-changin’.”

What is the general consensus for this move...

A 4pt hit to get swap Fabregas for Cahill

Bear in mind it would mean leaving Adam on the bench... should I just keep the 4pts and stick with Adam, I mean Bolton aren't keeping clean sheets and Adam is due a goal...

    All thoughts welcome... Thanks 🙂

I'm alive. And I took a 4pt hit today Fabs > Cahill. Not sure how great an idea it is but I did it.

I think Cahill is going to go up today. Also, Wenger not only said Fabs would be out 2 weeks, he also said they needed to be "cautious" with him for the next two months.

            http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/a/arsenal/9222143.stm

In short, I'm getting off the Fabs train for a while.

Anyone given any thought to which of the weekend's games are most at risk from a snowmaggedon postponement? Do Stoke/Wolves have proper undersoil heating or do they boil the kettle and sprinkle?

Presumably we'll know about any Saturday cancellations prior to the 1130am transfer deadline, which is a good reason (not that any is required) not to transfer early...

Newcastle v Chelsea is probably the greatest risk. The race meeting at Newcastle has alreday been abandoned.

Always look on the bright side of life...
      If life seems jolly rotten,
      There's something you've forgotten!
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing,

When you're feeling in the dumps,
      Don't be silly chumps,
Just purse your lips and whistle -- that's the thing!
And... always look on the bright side of life...

Games are rarely called off due pitch surface but more about spectators and how they will get there. So have the roads been gritted any accidents on motorways etc.... So in my opinion any match north or east of Northampton. That's quite slot and most of the "garrenteed points" games

      For life is quite absurd,
      And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow!
Forget about your sin -- give the audience a grin,
Enjoy it -- it's the last chance anyhow!

So always look on the bright side of death!
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
      Life's a piece of s**t,
      When you look at it.

      Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true,
      You'll see it's all a show,
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you!

        Thank you!
I have one free transfer and have to ship out Fabregas.. I know he might be back in a couple of weeks.. but with matches against Man Utd and Chelsea; 2 of the next three after his possible return.. Not really worth keeping him..
I could just do Fabrgas > Someone for free
or upgrade Carroll to Rooney as well for a hit.. I don't see Carroll scoring heavily in the next 6.

Heavily? How about 6 points every week? Take that any day against a 1, 11,1,2,3,2,2,14,1,2,1,1 you get the idea
