If it wasn’t for the frost in Blackpool, we’d all be sitting down right now to take in the Saturday evening treat that would’ve seen Ian Holloway go head to head with Sir Alex Ferguson. Instead, the Seasiders’ showdown with Man United can be anticipated as our first double gameweek, which allows to Arsenal sit proudly atop the Premier League till next weekend.

Arsene Wenger can give thanks to a fellow-Frenchman this evening, as Samir Nasri -with a quite sensational double enough to see off a resilient Fulham at the Emirates- continues to produce the form of his life for the Gunners. Nasri has scored four goals in his last three games, which takes his league total to eight already, and as a result of being awarded the three Bonus Points today, is the fourth highest-scoring midfielder in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

This form has not gone unnoticed, and the 150,00 Fantasy Managers who transferred Nasri in last week will feel their decision was more than vindicated with a performance that has returned 30 points for those who took the decision to hand him the captain’s armband. Such displays have considerably lessened the blow of losing Cesc Fabregas to yet another hamstring problem for Wenger and certainly benefits the Fantasy budget big-time, with Nasri priced at £7.9m compared to Fabregas‘ £11.8m.

Nasri is due a price rise tonight, though, but is still clearly outstanding value for money at present. Even upon the return of Fabregas, there is an argument to suggest he is performing well enough to perhaps even be considered as a better acquisition than Cesc, given his price, points returns and relative fitness.

The Gunners have a tough time over the next few gameweeks which will test their title credentials to the full: (mun, STK, CHE, wig, bir, MCY) but in a season where they can lose at home to Newcastle and West Brom and still hit the top come December, Arsenal are showing the ability to dig in and fight.

Credit must also be given to Jermaine Beckford, whose goal prevented Chelsea returning to first place. Having been slaughtered in some quarters for his woeful finishing against West Brom last week, the ex-Leeds man came up with the late equaliser that sees the champions in third place instead.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Arrrgggg...

Looking at Torres in for Drogba or take a .2 loss tonight --I've had Drogba since GW1 (at 12.5).

    One hour to decide:

    a) leap of faith and keep the cash
    b) sit tight and see what Torres does first

      for future reference:
      a 2 yellows red card = 1 game ban
a professional foul straight red = 1 game ban (e.g bringing the striker down as the last defender)
a violent conduct straight red = 3 game ban (e.g double footed lunge)
if you have already been sent off during the season each subsequent ban has 1 extra game added to it.

Yeah, but it wasn't a red snood/Chelsea shirt combo.. The Chelsea shirt with Ivanovic on the back was layer 2 of about 6... And it wasn't even that cold after all that!

Yeah, Beckford scoring was horribly predictable. Fortunately he's rubbish, or else we'd have probably lost at the end.

      Yeah it sucks.

I usually never make early transfers but I'm sick of losing value on him so I might just do it anyway if I can just find a good replacement. Tevez was the obvious one and I already have Carroll and the deadly weapon that is Piquionne up front so can't buy any of them.

Haha, good to hear you remembered that. I even forgot it myself.

My main points would have been that I think Kamara was causing all sorts of problems for the Arsenal defence and held upp the ball remarkably well, so taking him off for a speedier but weaker player (AJ) was a poor decision that cost Fulham heavily as they could never get time to breathe.

A poor decision was also to start time wasting with 35 minutes to go when they had a clear chance to play their way to a draw or even a lucky win.

Hughes is a defensive manager though and he gets what he deserves. Great game today but pace against our CB's gave us problems and Kamara was a handful today.
Fortunately our attacking game can compensate for the frailties at the back but I'm not sure how long that can continue.

I'm going to have to swallow my pride and say that Lampard is a huge miss for us.

With the way that Anelka, and to a lesser extent Malouda, drop so deep to link the midfield and attack, we often lack players in the box other than Drogba, and that is where we miss Lampard so much at the moment. He can also pick a pass much better than the other goons who've been playing in midfield over the past few weeks.

This isn't to say that I no longer think Lampard is overrated, I still do think that, it's just the other options in midfield are worryingly poor, as is the case throughout the entire squad in every position.

Worrying lack of effort in the second half today too. The spirit seemed to drain out of us as soon as Everton started to dominate the game. It was a spineless performance in the second half. When we actually managed to get the ball it was just hoofed up to Drogba, who had no support so when he even won the headers, nothing came from them.

Everton probably deserved to win today. They were easily the best team in the second half.

No value to the site, but to the individual they probably do. If I am honest, Over the last 3 pages if I looked back, I would see no posts what so ever that would be useful to the site.

as far as i remember on my own dean-watch he started the season really slowly, not sure he gave a single penalty in the first 5 or 6 games. then in the last 5 or 6 games he's been back on form averaging almost 1 a game

I need a captain too, and it's currently on Torres. The other options are:

      Malouda - hard fixture
      T Cahill - a possibility
Elmander - possibly too cheap to captain
      Nani - hard fixture
Jarvis - plays for a crap team

So I think I'm keeping it on Fernando.

"my team has been plagued by suspensions and recent runs of poor form." lol, You had me at plagued... Strikeforce is fine unless you want rid of Drogs, in which case Torres could be a handy transfer..Defence will do, midfield's a bit dodge, I'd try get Young/Downing in for WB at home or Tim Cahill, not sure how you can do it though..

Quick question on price drops. According to FT, Drogba is on 166% to drop, with 15% today. I am assuming he is so far above 100% due to a chnage in GW, so pretty certain he will go down at 1.05am?

There must be a lot of people on here with Tevez and Kolarov. It sucks to have them both suspended in the same week, but presumably you're all holding onto them as it isn't worth the transfers in and out for the sake of one gameweek.

    Is this correct?

Only have Tevez, wasn't convinced Kolarov would play every week, nor that he's that certain of attacking returns...

Probably holding him, it would cost an extra 0.2 to sell and buy back. But selling for Torres/Bent/Balotelli and captaining the newbie is an option.

The 4 vs Sunderland gets replaced with 10 vs Everton. 24 over 3 games should be less than the average for 8 million meaning a small loss. Last week he was 9 mil & dropped 1 mil with 18. Hope that helps.

I took out Drogba for Rooney this week and then Rooney out for Torres as match got called off.

I already want to trade Torres for Rooney but will wait this time. I think Rooney will score twice past Arsenal.

Amazingly none of them appeal to me. Rooney is my pick though, as he's on pens and at home and in a team capable of scoring goals and up against a good side but with poor centre backs.

Personally, I'd like to see Rooney score a goal from open play before touching him with a 8-foot barge pole.

Unless I was using said barge pole to assault him with.

Yeah I'm certainly not buying him, still think he's the pick out of that list though.

Can't deny that Arsenal leak a worrying amount of goals through the middle right now and he might get on the end of one, and then there's the penalties.

Our defence is probably better off without Koscielny in it. Djourou's actually played quite well recently.

Point taken though, Nani vs. Clichy could be a massacre again.

Koscielny looks a quality player from time to time imo but unable to uphold his concentration is devastating for a central defender.

I always found Djourou to be a good or at least decent player, I think he should get a longer chance to form a partnership with one of the other centre backs. Might very well work out. Could help Arsenal a lot as it looks to me like the centre back pairing of Squillaci and Koscielny is of much lower quality than the rest of the side.

Then again I'm obviously no Arsenal expert.

Coulda fooled me! Agree with absolutely everything you just said.

I've always said Koscielny has something there, the problem is that Arsenal can't carry another work-in-progress right now, especially not in defence.
