If it wasn’t for the frost in Blackpool, we’d all be sitting down right now to take in the Saturday evening treat that would’ve seen Ian Holloway go head to head with Sir Alex Ferguson. Instead, the Seasiders’ showdown with Man United can be anticipated as our first double gameweek, which allows to Arsenal sit proudly atop the Premier League till next weekend.

Arsene Wenger can give thanks to a fellow-Frenchman this evening, as Samir Nasri -with a quite sensational double enough to see off a resilient Fulham at the Emirates- continues to produce the form of his life for the Gunners. Nasri has scored four goals in his last three games, which takes his league total to eight already, and as a result of being awarded the three Bonus Points today, is the fourth highest-scoring midfielder in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game.

This form has not gone unnoticed, and the 150,00 Fantasy Managers who transferred Nasri in last week will feel their decision was more than vindicated with a performance that has returned 30 points for those who took the decision to hand him the captain’s armband. Such displays have considerably lessened the blow of losing Cesc Fabregas to yet another hamstring problem for Wenger and certainly benefits the Fantasy budget big-time, with Nasri priced at £7.9m compared to Fabregas‘ £11.8m.

Nasri is due a price rise tonight, though, but is still clearly outstanding value for money at present. Even upon the return of Fabregas, there is an argument to suggest he is performing well enough to perhaps even be considered as a better acquisition than Cesc, given his price, points returns and relative fitness.

The Gunners have a tough time over the next few gameweeks which will test their title credentials to the full: (mun, STK, CHE, wig, bir, MCY) but in a season where they can lose at home to Newcastle and West Brom and still hit the top come December, Arsenal are showing the ability to dig in and fight.

Credit must also be given to Jermaine Beckford, whose goal prevented Chelsea returning to first place. Having been slaughtered in some quarters for his woeful finishing against West Brom last week, the ex-Leeds man came up with the late equaliser that sees the champions in third place instead.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

+10000. People are stupid, they can't grasp the fact that two yellows = 1 match ban. Straight red = 3 match ban. Is too annoying.

Straight red is only a 3 match ban for violent conduct if I'm not mistaken; otherwise a 1 match ban too.

    4 questions
1- how long is tevez's suspension
2- when is VDV expected to return
3- Is there any news on when Blackpool-MU will be played
4- when does cahill leave for the Asian Cup?

    Cheers

Coleman had a very good game today, kept Ashley Cole busy for long spells, hard to see Moyes dropping him. Everton at home to Wigan and B'pool away to Stoke? That's a no-brainer for me. I wouldn't go near Drogs, he always does it in the big games

hard to decide wether to replace drogs with roo or nando, but i am leaning towards nando, he has been on the pitch in every single game this season and should now be ready and set to enter my selection with his very favourable run of games coming up and also with gerrard soon ready to back him up. Nani could just be enough united coverage the next few weeks i think. Thoughts?

      Maybe.

But I have a problem as both Kolarov and Tevez are out for me next GW.

No point transferring either of them out for 1 game and, to be honest, there aren't really many better options for that one week, so I'm thinking of bringing in Cahill for VdV.

At home to Wigan, Cahill would be the perfect candidate to be captain next week.

how can chelsea be playing arsenal gw19 when they have already played them in gw7? surely the repeat fixtures start after all games have been finished i.e. gw20 onwards? maybe i just know nothing about football...

There have been occasions where teams have met near the end of the first half of the season and again near the start of the second half, so played each other twice within a few weeks.

Early trades are sort of silly when midweek games are going to be played & the weather is a problem. I have both VDV & Drogba & will take the drop over making a silly trade.

63 points so far this gameweek and I still have Bent, Carroll, Kyrgiakos and Brunt to play!!!!

GET IN! and I'm up to 9th in the Scout League.

Still problems though, Kolarov and Tevez are both banned for next week and Brunt is teetering. Really hope he doesn't get booked.

Any (useful) comments on my team long term:

    Foster/Robinson
    Toure/Konchesky/Huth/Bardsley/Jara
    Nani/Nasri/Malouda/VDV/Ferguson
    Drogba/Tevez/Elmander

It's what I'm planning towards, give or take injuries!

Malouda really should go imo, chelsea are on awful form and they havent even entered their toughest run of opponents yet (gws 17-19).

of course, tevez is banned for the next match and toure is injured to some extent, VDV is out and drogba... well.

maybe think about downgrading malouda/VDV and upgrading ferguson? or jara? the rest is good

I have Toure as well, but I'm bringing in Kolarov after he has served his suspension, as Toure does nothing going forward to justify his price.

I agree with both of you! Toure to Kolorov was my next move after his suspension to free up funds. And Malouda is next on my list to go, he aint worth the money!
